In the early series, there seems to have been a definitive, specific, laid out path. An item was used in a particular location and if you didn't have the item (for whatever reason) when it was needed then you died. The problem is that this lead to the situation where you can do badly in the clue room and still get through the dungeon by being lucky with your selection of items. On the other hand, if you did well, picked up exactly the right items, but missed a clue (or didn't understand the advice given) you were certainly dead. So bad teams could progress and good teams could fail, and it wasn't necessarily clear why. Later series seem to have eased up on this and there always seems to have been an alternative approach available for taking the wrong items (at least in level 1).

Could someone please help? I'd really like to see the extended version. You can now watch the original upload of the extended Geek Week episode here. There's also a later upload here. Let us know what you think of it. Something I've only just noticed: the first thing to happen in the episode is a facing-away-from-the-camera sidestep (by Veruca). Surely deliberate? Thank you! Great to see the extra stuff! Also nice to hear the opening theme tune fade out naturally without the door-creaking-open sound effect at the end.

Hugo has been known to make a few cameo appearances at Knightmare Live performances - both he and Mark Knight featured at the Leicester Square Theatre performance in November last year.

I wonder if the Lords Of The Game pilot will forever remain a convention exclusive or if there might still be any future opportunity to see it. (And the pilot eps of Knightmare, for that matter. Would be cool if Tim could dig them out for the 40th anniversary next year!) I fear it’s unlikely. The pilot was filmed as “not for broadcast” so I imagine that legally it cannot be distributed. We did ask if we could include it on the DVD but although he gave it serious consideration, Tim said nay. I fear the pilots may have the same status

Extract from the Forum FAQ: Offers or requests of tape or DVD trading over the forum is not permitted and any posts on this matter will be removed and the poster informed. We cannot condone this activity as it is illegal and potentially could get yourself and/or the site in trouble. To be enlightened more on previous discussion please read the TAPE PIRACY thread which includes a post by Tim Child warning of he possibility of prosecution for those who publicly trade episodes. Discussion of the ethics of people selling Knightmare episodes (particularly on eBay) is permitted but we would ask you to please read previous discussion on the TAPE PIRACY thread and if you feel you have "something to contribute that's been missed in the debate so far", please do so. However we do not wish the discussion to keep going around in circles. No official DVDs or videos of Knightmare have ever been released and any you see for sale on sites such as eBay are unauthorised copies. Such tape trading may have an affect the decision for a future DVD release (and more to the point, is illegal) and therefore we would strongly advise people not to buy or sell copies of Knightmare episodes, whether through eBay or public tape trading. If you spot any such auctions, you can report the auction/seller to eBay who will normally take action such as removing the auction. Thank you Forum Administrator

...crazy fool... Here's one. The Dreadnaught was supposed to be a huge metal version of Mr. T, made from his old cast-off jewellery. However, budget cuts at Anglia meant they had to go for the cheap option, and the end product was somewhere south of mediocre. Construction by MFI, animation by the people who drew Roobarb (on an off-day), programming by the software company that brought us Sqij...

I could laugh at pookas now- strange innit? Yet, when you're only a few years old and some big green whirry thing appears on the screen getting bigger, it kinda made your hairs stand on end. But i would like to see a clip of the actions/sounds of the "Crazed Hepher" pooka from the earlier series so that I can accuratly incorporate it in my Knightmare PC game. The new pooka is a masterpiece in my game- I took frames from a whole cycle of it's animation so it's tail sways properly, it's nose screws up a bit, and even the wrinkles on its forehead change!! Call me mad but I even have a screensaver with 6 of 'em floating around!! pookapooka

The ghost in series 2 clue room? Not the cavern wraithe or whatever it was called. It did look good for it's time!! Floating skulls, errr... a bit cheesy and jerky. Pookas, old and new- well good, scared the sh*t into us all when we were kids, and now I look back, they're the best! Stormguiests- ugly angular things- looked like dogs skulls and made horrible screechy noise. Pooka screensaver anyone?

He already did. Treguard was the first person to ever single-handedly conquer the dungeon.

Given the number of expressions and, indeed, words coined by Shakespeare, it's difficult not to quote him. I wouldn't be surprised to discover that I haven't managed it in this very post.

My friends and I used to play Knightmare all the time! We'd watch it of a Friday and absoulutely love it. What was great fun was if some of us liked a particular Dungeoneer and the rest of us didn't. Made more interesting. We would always play Knightmare during playtime or lunchtime (It was of course a few years before I got to secondary school and used the term 'Break'!). Our field was pretty good, and had a couple of Oaks and a seperate little claering which we weren't supposed to go in. It was a bit creepy, which of course made for excellent Knightmare play. We were all of a great imagination, so creating rooms, puzzles, traps was never that hard. When the board game came out, we would use the riddle book, as that did have some great riddles in it. It was even more atmospheric when we would play on a Friday evening. Bear in mind it would be Winter time, so outside was nicely dark and scary. Sadly however, using my Go-Kart never quite the same thrill as the mine cart...

What a great way to make my return. A thread about my fav Knightmare 'character' ever. Ariadne was at her best in S4, we all seem to be in agreement on that. I vaguely remember a spider from S3 but don't remember the details. Pretty sure it wasn't Ariadne though, maybe a famiily member or friend
