In the early series, there seems to have been a definitive, specific, laid out path. An item was used in a particular location and if you didn't have the item (for whatever reason) when it was needed then you died. The problem is that this lead to the situation where you can do badly in the clue room and still get through the dungeon by being lucky with your selection of items. On the other hand, if you did well, picked up exactly the right items, but missed a clue (or didn't understand the advice given) you were certainly dead. So bad teams could progress and good teams could fail, and it wasn't necessarily clear why. Later series seem to have eased up on this and there always seems to have been an alternative approach available for taking the wrong items (at least in level 1).

Could someone please help? I'd really like to see the extended version. You can now watch the original upload of the extended Geek Week episode here. There's also a later upload here. Let us know what you think of it. Something I've only just noticed: the first thing to happen in the episode is a facing-away-from-the-camera sidestep (by Veruca). Surely deliberate? Thank you! Great to see the extra stuff! Also nice to hear the opening theme tune fade out naturally without the door-creaking-open sound effect at the end.

Hugo has been known to make a few cameo appearances at Knightmare Live performances - both he and Mark Knight featured at the Leicester Square Theatre performance in November last year.

I wonder if the Lords Of The Game pilot will forever remain a convention exclusive or if there might still be any future opportunity to see it. (And the pilot eps of Knightmare, for that matter. Would be cool if Tim could dig them out for the 40th anniversary next year!) I fear it’s unlikely. The pilot was filmed as “not for broadcast” so I imagine that legally it cannot be distributed. We did ask if we could include it on the DVD but although he gave it serious consideration, Tim said nay. I fear the pilots may have the same status

Noted... Unfortunatley, a processed 'lift' is never going to compete with the original sample. A lot of the sound effects are Broadsword 'Stock' footage/sound and can be bought at most specialist retailers (even Virgin and HMV have been known to have sound FX cd's, some of which can be quite good). However, trying to track down 'Signature' sounds, the distinctive goblin horns for example, is going to be a lot more difficult... Kieran, not wanting to pester the man, can TC help out with these more 'hard-to-find' samples??

I thought Lilith was cool, she had quite a good death rate as well!!! I thought Morghana was also quite cool as well killing 2 dungeoneers off <(her only 2 appearances as well 2/2 or it won't do for her i think!!!!)

Well... yes - there's always that -but couldnt you do that in loads of rooms? But that would just ruin the spirit of knightmare. What they could do instead would be to not let the Oracle appear until they picked up the food etc etc - you get the idea

Hmmm, I think Velda wins the "Raving Psychopath Award" since she's both trigger AND knife-happy. (and seems to be in a constant state of neurotic paranoia)

What about that crazy witch from Sleepy Hollow and that wierd zombie crone. They'd be good in Knightmare.

I've not got my hands on the C64 game... yet... but the Amiga version was really just your standard Amiga-era RPG with an appearance by Treguard. While it wasn't a bad RPG, (except for being rather hard as I recall... ) it didn't really have much to do with the show.

Y'know, after thinking about this for a while, I realised I actually like my life much better now. Sure, there's bills, rent, work and all sorts of 'adult business' to attend to, but I also get to stay up watching KM, playing games and listening to music as late as I like, don't have to go to school, and no-longer live in my hometown! I think that's a fair trade...

The comic book parallels that you mention are noticeable throughout creative literature and media (the famous 'good guys always win' scenario for example). Having said that, Lord Fear nearly always WON. A dungeoneer getting right through the dungeon was a major event... Knightmare was originally designed as a kids show so it's inevitable that some of the characters are going to be fairly one-sided (including those 'of the grey' like Hordriss). And what is wrong with 'Trekkies' might I ask? Yes, there are some VERY scary fans out there... but not everythone is like that! Here's a worrying thought for you... The official Star Trek fan-club has enough fully paid members that it can be (again in the official sense) considered a religion...
