ok. here's a REALLY stupid question for you!

What type of computer is it?

looks like a 50-50 between an Amstrad CPC or the ubiquitous Speccy. Any ideas out there?

Yeah it's hard to tell, my guess is a Spectrum 128 +2 (the one with a built in cassette deck)
