Knightmare Top Trumps Revisited

Howdy,

I am considering making a playable (online) game of Knightmare top trumps. I'm well aware that the Knightmare Club produced a set many years ago, but I thought that (particularly since they're not all listed online) people might like to discuss who/what should be present and what the various stats should be.

A standard set of top trumps has 30 cards and approximately 5 categories. The categories need to be distributed such that no single card is always defeatable/undefeatable. Ideally, any card which is unbeatable in one category has an easy-to-beat score in another category. Similarly, a card with many beatable scores should have (at least) one mediocre or good score in another category.

My thoughts on categories would be something like:

Cunning

Magic

Goodness

Knowledge

Vitality

Which I think gives a reasonable spread to any KM character. Your thoughts?

The fan-made Knightmare Top Trumps created by red_fraggle a few years ago are worth investigating. I don't know if she is contactable, but failing that, I have a copy of the file if you would like to see them.

For quick reference, the categories red_fraggle used are: Quests Appeared In, Magic, Strength, Fear Factor, How Annoying, Comedy Value, with all but the first category scored out of 100.

I would have LOVED there to have been some Knightmare Top Trumps.

I was a big Top Trumps fan had loads of sets.

They did do a fantasy set, which included a Dragon, Goblin, Knight etc.

But a Knightmare set would have been the icing on the cake!

I did do something similar to this quite some time ago, but it involved teams. What they're strengths and weaknesses were and a score of their peformance. This was divided into a few subjects:

Stamina

Intelligence

Teamwork

And some others which I can't remember right now
