It's a couple of hours early, but Sidriss The Confused & The Deathly Hallows is now ready for download from...

Have a Happy New Year, all of you.

Even though there's going to be a longer, far more professionally produced sketch coming out soon, Rosey and I couldn't resist recording another improvised sketch from the bizarre world of Hordriss-Sidriss/Harry Potter as our own festve vignette. You can download the shamless mucking-about session from here http://www.mediafire.com/?sucluglfht547gk and if anyone feels like linking to it from or uploading it to the Dunshelm Players site, we will, of course, be very pleased.

Every day I check the link for The Philosopher's Sojourn, and every day it still links to The Deathly Hallows. I know Andy's disappeared off to the Far East for the foreseeable future, but doesn't Martin have a copy of The Philosopher's Sojourn to upload - it has previously been reported as being finished and ready. We're curious to hear this, as we bothered to record a load of lines for it... are we actually going to?
-
Sorry about this.
I do have a copy of TPJ (or at least, I have one on my laptop, but that's currently away getting repaired), but unfortunately it's proven to be unusable - a lot of the lines are inaudible, the sound balance is a bit skewed, and there's no stereo on it. I should be able to send you a copy of it if you like, but we certainly can't release it as the final version.
A re-mix is in the pipeline, but I don't have access to the source recordings, so I can't take over the mixing work. We'll have to wait until Andy M gets back, but yes, it will be available eventually.
-
I would quite like to hear the rough version just to see what it's like, if you can send it to me, thanks. I remember there was an issue with my lines and Rosey's lines being in .wma format, because that's all our new(ish) computer makes, but I've just found out how to convert them to .wavs or .mp3s, so would it help (after Andy gets back) if I re-sent our lines in either of those forms? Or is that completely irrelevant?

Hooray!

Okay, a little something should be coming out this week, namely one of Jake & Rosey's Sidriss sketches. This is not the The Philosopher's Sojourn, that's still pencilled in for December. Instead, this is the untitled one that Jake released in raw form on Mediafire before Christmas last year. I've finally got around to mixing it, including editing out some minor errors, turning the track into stereo, and adding some music and sound effects. Nothing elaborate still, but a bit of polish. Expect to see it available for download before Friday.
-
Well, an hour before Friday anyway. Friday's the fifth anniversary of the launch of Famous For Retreating so I guess it's fitting there should be some kind of new material made available.
So if you nip over to http://dunshelmplayers.wordpress.com/comedies/sidriss-the-confused-the-merchandising-deal-of-azkaban/ you can at last download Jake and Rosey's sketch in its completed form. And yes, that includes a long overdue title; Sidriss The Confused & The Merchandising Deal Of Azkaban.

Part 4 in the publishing adventures of Sidriss, Sidriss The Confused & The Philosopher's Sojourn, will at long last be released within the week.
It's tentatively being called a sketch, but in fact it's proven a fair bit longer than I'd realised when I was writing the script. At eighteen minutes-plus, it's almost long enough to count as a play. Almost.
Launch will be announced when it's available.

At last! I've been looking forward to this one

Okay, ladies, gents, and others, I am very happy - to say nothing of toweringly relieved - to announce that, after a delay of almost eleven months, Sidriss The Confused & The Philosopher's Sojourn is finally completely mixed, edited, scored, bounded and exported into an MP3 and can now be downloaded from; -

Many thanks to Jake, Rosey, Helen and Ricky for their fine performances and helpful feedback. Nods of acknowledgement too for Andy "Dark Comet" Marshall for a brave first attempt at mixing an audio play. It didn't work out, but on reflection, even as a sketch it was a very awkward play to mix when you're completely new to the field; six characters, all in one scene lasting eighteen minutes, are very difficult to organise even with practice.
Also a nod of thanks to Adam Hall for the original Sir Hugh recordings, which sadly had to be abandoned due to technical problems. Again, if it was a failure, it was an honourable failure.
Look out for the third Yes, Dungeon Master outing coming up over the Xmas holidays.
