Better introduce myself!

Hiya. How do you do? Hope you enjoy your time with us - the friendliest community you'll find.
Hehe, I nearly ended up at Edinburgh University this year; in fact, went up to look around in March. Was really disappointed that the Uni didn't reply to my polite askings for a short appointment with someone from the English department if I could travel up from Sunderland. Still, ended up at Bristol, and whatever I feel day to day at the moment, deep down know I'm really happy here.
Herbal medicine. In all seriousness, have you any recommendations for sleeping remedies - struggling at the moment - or is that nothing to do with your line of study? If not, no worries at all. Anyhow, have fun - and anything you ever need, just message one of us, or e-mail someone who has their address listed. See you about! KaM

if you mean herbalist remedies, chamomile is generally considered a good start... any herb with a sedative effect - passionflower, hops, skullcap (but they are more difficult to aquire and slightly more difficult to prepare)
cannabis will work, but i didn't say that.
technically, chamomile is used more when pain is the cause of insomnia, but it's the best start. put it in a bath before bed or make tea using it.
if it's depression/stress, try st john's wort (or porridge made with real oats of all things). they should be easily aquirable.
all unofficial advice, seek a doctor if you have a medical condition, suitable disclaimery things etc
you could have asked me...

Who says she's a drug addict? It's common knowledge that cannibis is a sedative. Most people (and also most people's parents when you put it into perspective) have tried weed at least once. Personally I haven't, but there's enough knowledge going around to know what it does. All the other herbs Resque mentioned are the kind of things that your gran grows in her back garden.

Look in her profile, it says "Sugar coated arsinic"
There's my proof
I did, and it doesn't. It says 'sugar coated arsenic', which is proof of wit and eloquence, but not of drug addiction. Plus, you only need to be a passive smoker (something which is hard to avoid at university) to discover that cannabis helps you sleep.
(For more details, see the cleverly-made Simpsons episode 'Weekend At Burnsies', where Homer is prescribed cannabis for medicinal purposes.)

snicker
