Something like that - and Simon Day, who does Billy Bleach, also does a good Australian character - but a comparison of Neighbours with EastEnders is enough to show that the link is not too strong!
We send criminals Down Under, they send us Rolf Harris... I think we did rather well out of it!
Talking of Australia, I always liked Dannii Minogue a bit more than Kylie; it's just a shame that the double-i gimmick she tried with her first name never caught on with anyone in England...
