I will go with Series 8. It was a return to the dungeon style gaming and had plenty of things too hurry teams up (Sound of the Red Dragon approaching, Goblins & Trolls). It also had those spooky Dwarf Tunnels, nothin like Series 7 though. The background music was the thing that made this series more scary than earlier ones because it added to the idea of panic and tension when something was coming, especially the new music added when a troll as apporaching as a team completed the Runes Puzzle.

The series that scared you the most -
Which Treguard was better? The addition of an assistant allowed Treguard to become more of a character himself because he had someone to interact with and he had more of a task to help the dungeoneers because he was on the side of the Powers That Be.
The problem when he was on his own he had very little to do and ended up popping through walls in every room of the dungeon saying "Warning Team" or something else lol.

What went wrong with Knightmare?Tim Child says he preferred the later seasons because he thought the early ones were very slow. Considering there were seven teams in season 7, and six teams in a half-length season 1, I find that hard to agree with. NO quest in Knightmare lasted over an hour until season 5.
After reading the interview from Tim Child I think he meant it was quicker after Series 5 because they did role-play testing during the auditions to ensure only suitable teams made the game. He probably meant that earlier series suffered from very bad teams that might of slowed things down (Resulting in a lot of editing that we do not see perhaps?) and not about how long quests actually took. Teams in later seasons perhaps made it furthur simply because they were good and not because things were made easier.
Perhaps Tim Child got fed up of having to start a new quest almost every episode like in series 3 and wanted more teams to get into the last levels so that some more rooms could be shown instead of the same ones?
I don't think anything went wrong as such with Knightmare because as it says in numerous places there is a limitation to what you can do with hand drawn rooms and trying new things is the only way to keep an audience interested. I don't think anyone would've liked 8 series that were just variants of series 3!

Best SeriesSeries 6, 7 & 8 to me were my fav overall. What I really liked about them was the music that added so much tension especially in Series 8 with the Reach Wand and the sound of a troll approaching. Really had me shouting at the screen.
Although a lot of people think Series 3 is the best i admit i havent seen every last bit of it but i honestly think it is not very fun because some bits dragged on for ages like with the wall monsters and to me there weren't actually any major traps or puzzles, not like Trial by Spikes or Causeway type puzzles but correct me if i'm wrong here.
Character wise Series 6 & 7 had some very entertaining characters that acted well and made the series seem more interesting and enjoyable. Elita, Rodolfo, Sidriss, Rothberry and Lord Fear are clear examples of this.
Teams wise i prefered the later series because teams didnt die quite as often and i know a lot of people hate the whole letting teams off, but i believe that every team dying on level 1 and a new quest starting off after 10mins is rather tedious and repetitive with that dice room and the same level 1 rooms.
Series 8 is probably my favourite after seeing 6, 7 & 8 again because it was slightly less forgiving with some early deaths, it was in dungeons, etc with music that really added tension and had some great acting from lord fear.

Re:Bypassing levels *POSSIBLE SPOILER until Friday*I think they could of made Dunstan's quest slightly longer. I noticed that they beat the dungeon in 35mins while some of the earlier teams in this series died after around 50mins and were very close to the end.
I also say it should've been longer because 8mins for Team 6 was no way long enough to get into the quest properly even though they bypassed level 2.
Perhaps Level 1 could of been lengthened slightly so that Dunstan would complete the dungeon at the same time as the series ended perhaps adding a small storyline to his quest as well?

Series 8 - Episode 1A brilliant start to Series 8. Am loving the return to Series 3 in that Teams can now die in Level 1 instead of being let off. They must've decided that they weren't going to be as forgiving in this series. The graphics are absolutely brilliant and like in previous posts I really like how the dungeoneer must step through the gate to begin the game.
The 2nd team seem quite interesting so i cant wait to see how far they get tommoro!

Series 7 - Episode 1A very good season start especially with the Lissard & Lord Fear bit at the start. Many new characters were introduced in todays episode such as Majida, Rothberry, Romahna, Fidgit and Raptor. A bit too much talking and absolutely no puzzles, etc yet.
The last bit was good in the Dwarf Tunnels but Majida just gave it away by saying they need to use the SIGHT spell.
The ending seemed very quick as well as Treguard closed the episode.
Hopefully things will pick up the pace now that most of the characters, etc have been introduced.

Worst series?Series 4 was my worst series. I did like the last level because it had some of the hardest obstacles ever seen on Knightmare like the Block N Tackle. I think Level 1 is what lets this series down because the first section is just very very slow and repetitive.
Series 5 has to be my other worst series. It only beats Series 4 because it had more variety but it had a very poor lineup of obstacles and puzzles and teams were let off when it came to the questions, etc.
My Favourite series are 6, 7 & 8 because i think the characters are much more interesting as well as the creepy music in rooms and Dwarf Tunnels. Series 7 & 8, also had much better puzzles like Play Your Cards Right, etc.

Series 6 - Episode 15What an abrupt ending. Firstly Hordriss tells them to find the ship. After about 5 minutes he's still standing on the causeway!! they should've died lol
And then after 1 dwarf tunnel they end up on the ship and again a very quick meeting with Captain N.
What i want to know is how did he know which ways to go in the dwarf tunnel?! Its the same with Ben on that last dwarf tunnel...someone forgot that they are meant to be blind hence the helmet LOL.
The bit with Sly and the warts was great though.
Looks like its on to Series 7...

Series 6 Ep 14Not as good an episode as yesterdays but a different intro since Pickle couldn't do his book of quests.
They've also added some background music to the quest choice room, i think they added it anyway!
And Hordriss is finally on the Powers That Be which i presume will carry onto series 7 & 8.
Again Elita was somewhat nicer today, although she's still rude but she has kind of changed from the earlier part of Series 6.
And the end of the spyglass scene was interesting because Lord Fear had a new spy glass detection siren. There seems to be a lot of new additions in the last few episodes (Such as y'days Level 3 Exam) but i think its all been added a little to far into the show. No More Lord Fear's hand either!!!
But back to this episode a somewhat quick & somewhat slow Level 1 (They had only reached the 2nd room by the break!). Not long to go till the end of series 6 now!

Series 6 Episode 13Another very good episode. The part with Elita was just great with more back chat from Sophia.
The 3 questions room with Hordriss was a welcome return to the old series 3/4 formula of needing to answer questions correctly in order to continue. Its a shame it was brought in so late in the series though!...But at least they werent let off like in Series 5 with Gwendoline Sadly it did mean they died so close to the end of the game.
And this is the first time that a game ending was also time out. So tommoro a fresh team begins at the start

Series 6 Episode 12Hi all,
with regard to the Stormgueist not damaging life force...i noticed that unlike the old hauntings of Series 3, the ones in series 6 actually go forwards and backwards for example in the Dwarf Tunnel it was right in front of them but they were furthur along the dwarf tunnel, if this had been series 3 with a sword haunting life force would of been damaged even if they were right across the room which is more unrealistic....if anyone gets what i mean lol
With the rest of the episode it was really good, i especially liked the really dark dwarf tunnel and the background music, most tense dwarf tunnel moment yet!
And that bit with "your a faceache too" was just great...although Elita was actually being a lot nicer overall in todays episode!

Series 6 Episode 9 and review so far!My Review of the episode. A bit slow in my opinion but I did like the small story with Sidriss and hands. Good job the potion worked before hands took lil ben away hehe.
The pookas were enormous in this episode but i was disappointed again that the dreadnort was just standing there and didn't suddenly appear like he used too.
I think even Pickle was joining in the groans on the causeway as Ben almost fell off a few times.
Im interested to know what will happen with the Backfire spell but thats for next time....
The Series Review...
Well compared to Series 5 i can instantly say that this one has been much more interesting. Theres a large variety of rooms so you never know where they are going to end up in the next room.
I agree that the causeways have somewhat become a bit repetitive because they no longer use the different types such as using colours, etc.
The music is also a very good addition because all those tense moments are made even tenser! and the Dwarf Tunnels are just great because you never know what will be around the next corner. Compared to the series 3 ones these are much more fun and more scary.
Also character interaction in this series is much more interesting as well. I really enjoyed the chase when Sidriss had to guide them through the tunnels to get away from the goblins.
A Great Series that i can't wait too see more of!
-
Series 6 Ep 8Ive noticed that on every first dwarf tunnel section the dungeoneer seems to guide themselves without even being told which way to go, just seems odd.
I didn't really like the Dreadnort just standing awkwardly before the Descender, and then as he was leaving im sure the team guided January right through the door before it even opened lol.
But a good episode, a shame about their after tryin to give Hands the ring when in the spy glass scene, Lord Fear told him to kill whoever had it anyway
-
Series 6 Episode 7That was really good where the goblins chased after them and they run into the tunnels and almost bump into them.
At least there was more action then just loads of talking on every scene.
I was disappointed at the start because last time we saw a bit of Skarkill at the end of the passage, when it was game on they just walked onto the causeway

Yeh she was clearly on the even number but those timed causeways the blocks only seem to fall when the sword reaches the dot.
I really liked that episode, hope the next one will be just as good!
-
Series 6 - Episode 6A very good episode, the team covered a lot of ground probably because there was a lot less talking. Elita made me jump when she came from behind the barrel. And then that last section in the Dwarf Tunnel shook me a bit when that thing disappeared at the other end of the tunnel.

That Team member seems to say "You won't fall off anything" in every single room!
I can't wait too see what happens in the dwarf tunnel tommoro!
-
Series 6 - Episode 5The Dwarf Tunnels i think add the most tension never knowing what is going to be around the corner. They don't seem to use them very much at the moment though.
I did think this episode dragged on a bit. I agree Sly was very good but especially after the next scene with Ah Wok and THEN the next scene with SLY followed by a chat with RIDOLFO. Too much talking and very little else. But at least the characters are more entertaining unlike in Series 5.
Where have the goblins gone this series? I noticed they haven't made much of an appearance yet.
Also a shame the Causeway wasn't timed, they wouldn't of made it off the first block they were so slow, it annoyed me because that was the first Level 1 non-timed causeway!!!
But a good episode and I look foward to tommoros episode

The Ultimate Series MixHi all.
If you could create a new series by mixing together two current series which 2 series would you put together?
So you could mix the dungeon style rooms of Series 3 with the Characters of Series 6....
I would mix Series 6 & 7 together, ok they were very similar but i would have motley, Skarkill, Ah Wok & Ridolfo from 6 & Grimaldine from 7 along with the better variation of puzzles from 7, not just loads of causeways.
Also Level 3 would be goth but Smirkenorf would have a variety of flight paths like in 6.
Oh and as well keep the Series 6, orginal Helmet with no sight spells, etc.
-
Series 6 Episode 3I agree they are another good team. Has anyone noticed so far that all the causeways in Level 1 have a frightknight timer and the ones in Level 2 don't? i thought they were meant to get harder lol.
I always thought that Hordriss was part of the Powers That Be now? I always wonder which characters ACTUALLY form the Powers That Be.
Apart from that i just like how everything seems to happen faster and things don't drag on like they did in earlier series.
So can't wait too see more of this series!
-
Series 6 Episode 2It was certainly nice to see things moving along quicker than they did in Series 4 & 5. And again its great with the background music, really increases the tension especially when the dreadnaught was approaching and you get the danger music and the armour dropping off the knight.
Shame team 1 fell off that causeway, and that 1 didnt even have a timer lol.
Was it me or did sidriss actually point in the direction she had come from sayin "or was it this way i was going". And then those goblins were coming and she still wouldn't shutup lol.
Overall a really good episode, series 6 really is much more lively than the previous series
