Another tentative, subject to time/dates etc. Though I remember being a lot less useful during the old KMRPG filmings than I thought I'd be....
I've some stage lighting and video capture kit if that would help though?

Unfortunately, I'll have to bail out of this one.
While the change in accommodation price is noticeable, My dayjob has it's main crunch in August and I've simply too much on. We're in the process of moving campuses, rebuilding client machines from W7 to W10 (approximately 2100+ of them!) and rebuilding the entire AD network to suit.
Couple that with me already having time off in August for working events etc (booked nearly a year ago) and there's no way they'll let me go. Disappointing but nothing I can do about it.
Have fun folks. I'll hopefully be able to join you all next time...
I must admit, it was a damn shame seeing the KMRPG nose dive like it did. Though you're quite right in saying the majority of us only have ourselves to blame for it doing so!
I must admit, I think back to many of my own mistakes during the filming sessions I attended and cringe. "Collie cam" during what should have been static SFX shots. Lighting that makes the chromakey effect difficult, if not impossible, to actually pull off. There are probably many others that I've forgotten about.
I MIGHT have some of the old footage laying around. Though it will have survived multiple HDD failures if I do. As such, I'd love to get a copy of what you have, so I can refill a few gaps here and there.
There's also the fact that technology has come a noticeable distance since we did the original filming. Shotcut ( https://shotcut.org/ )allowing for basic chromakey effects without the complicated multi-masking of old for example. There's even the possibility of doing basic things within OBS ( https://obsproject.com/ ). Opening the tantalising chance of doing Knightmare the same way we originally saw it. Live...
THAT would require a lot of work and pre-planning to pull off though. Given our previous history, I'm not sure if the KM community would be up for such a production.
Urgh... That puts the meetup right in the middle of several events and the closing weeks of the summer network refresh at my dayjob. >v.v<
All I can do is try and hope that the gods of middle management smile on me. If not, have fun guys and I'll hopefully catch you next time.
Providing I'm not working the chosen weekend...
[Sticks a paw into the air]
Agreed.
The only other way I've seen it done was a hybrid approach. Multiple smaller controlled areas with walked transitions between. The old "2.8hrs Later" street game did this with its Zombie infested kill zones.
Possibly easier for insurance (no gameplay happens outside of the prescribed areas) but a much more complex setup for the game itself. Kinda following the Crystal Maze model that we tried the last time in York.
Either way, perhaps not something that can be organised for Jan 2019... >v.v< Maybe another time...
Ah damn... >v.v<
Oh well, thanks for the answer at least.
[Cross posted between here and FB, as I don't know which is being monitored.]
Any movement for this?
Day job is willing to give time off but my window for booking it is rapidly closing! >O.O<
I forgot to mention :-
For me to attend, the date would need to be after Sept 1st. Reason being my day jobs holiday allowance for this year has already been used up with existing convention work. It cycles over to next year on Sept 1st.
Thanks and apologies for being awkward!
I'm interested but it depends on me getting away from the dayjob.
My convention work already takes most of the bookable time.
Confirmed!
Probably arrive the Friday afternoon and leave on the Monday morning. Make a full weekend of it.
The day job has confirmed my time off so count me in for this one. (Yay! My 1st ever KM Blackpool! >^.^< )
They've given me the Friday right through to the Monday, so I can make it a proper weekend.
Lemme know how you want my part of the money for Accom.
Time off work approved and accom near enough sorted with Natalies help.
Count me confirmed.
I've put the time in for holidays from work.
Just waiting on hearing back before I sort travel/accom (probably book one of the inns down by the harbour as I hear the hostel is almost full).
Sticks his hand in the air
Work permitting, count me in
Seconded.
Thirded.
Used to go to Whitby every summer as a kid. Would be nice to see the harbour and old town again.
All depends on the work schedule though.
All booked and paid for.
See yez there!
Count me in. Probably the first time in a long time I'll be able to make one of these!
I'm another that would defend Alstonefield having been at the RPG and later meet there.
As mentioned ad nauseum before, Halloween is my "Summer" holiday so I'm game for a trip to Alton Towers Scarefest and Tulleys Farm if they're on the menu.
Also, I'm another with the use of a car and don't mind ferry duties, within reason.
Scarefest is on from 18th Oct to 2 Nov.
Tulleys Farm Halloween runs for selected dates during the same period. - http://www.halloweenattractions.co.uk/shocktoberfest/dates
Another suggestion for Accom would be the YHA @ Ilam Hall.
http://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/ilam-hall
Within a few £ of Hathersage.
Ashbourne is only a short hop away from Alton Towers and civilisation in general.
Just LOOK at the place! If that building doesn't scream "Knightmare", what the heck does?!?
Well... I hesitate to suggest this as it's had very little interest in the past but if you're wanting Halloween hijinx there's alwasy "The Road to Hell and Back". Generally a short-ish roadtrip to visit Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and Tulleys Farm during their Halloween events.
Ran this a few years ago but, I admit, it's kinda died a death unless someone wants to resurrect the idea...
