Knightmare VR (which can be found on YouTube if you haven't seen it) includes an "avatar", a giant blue humanoid and a mix of live action and CGI, but not much of a plot. You're welcome, James Cameron.

Watching Catchphrase today and it did the "Armchair Adventurers" quote at the start of the ads again.

The episodes are series 7, episodes 14-15. CITV schedule coordinator and self-confessed "gameshow geek" David Cooper picked the episodes to be shown! Very good choices, IMHO, with all the key elements of Knightmare - clue objects, spells and potions, riddles, spying on Lord Fear, various character interactions, the two scariest physical challenges (Corridor of Blades and Trial By Spikes), a truly great team and the most exciting series finale. Sad to read that David Cooper, who selected the Knightmare episodes for CITV's Old Skool Weekend, has died suddenly.

I know. I was so chuffed with that mention of Knightmare. I thought finally someone has mentioned it again. I roared with laughter at some of the jokes they were doing. Mock the Week is funny.

Good to hear Hugo's surname being given correctly on the BBC, as he was called "Hugo Wyatt" in BBC Four's Children's TV on Trial in 2007. Following the success of Knightmare Pointless on this forum, it was pleasing to see Pointless itself returning the favour. And it wasn't Richard Osman's first brush with the Greater Game. When an MP asks him to tweet a former contestant, he generally does.

Unfortunately I didn't buy the issue and only spotted it when I was waiting for mum at ASDA - it was covering the week when Rufus Hound was a contestant if I recall correctly.

Mary Miller was in the fourth episode of The Alleyn Mysteries, 'Death At The Bar' in 1993. Watch from 57:23 and you'll see what might have happened if Akash or Anthony had offered Lillith a bottle of poison!

Some nice ads in here. Aside from the obvious KM content, it is nice to see such shows as Victor & Hugo and Woof! pop up in them. Ahh, such ace times, such ace shows. I loved them as well. Friday nights were great. I wish I'd had to foresight to tape all the Victor & Hugo episodes since the series is so damn' hard to find nowadays. Thankfully, over the years I collected almost all of them. Same goes for Knightmare of course, though thanks to Challenge and Youtube, we can watch them any time. We need DVDs of all these shows!

The UKGameshows Knightmare page refers to the YouTube Geek Week episode as a semi-official revival. Was it anything less than 100% official? It's entirely official, since it's entirely produced by Tim Child, the rightsholder. I suppose it's debatable as to whether or not it's a revivial, since it's really a one-off and very special type of episode.

It's even more random than I thought, then! Only people of a certain age could be expected to recognise it, and even then they would have to be pretty big fans to remember the tune after not hearing it anywhere recently. The other two theme songs were far more obvious, with one being a current show and the other practically spelling out the title in the lyrics.

Apparently the new "Google Glass" has given some people a very approved opinion of what it's like wearing them: http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/science-technology/google-glass-makes-everything-look-like-knightmare-2013050267405?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+thedailymash+(The+Daily+Mash.+It's+news+to+us.) Nice namecheck, if anything.

This news item caught my eye this morning. Without this man we might never have had Knightmare - the dungeon salutes you, sir! (Don't suppose he's related to Alexander "Mordred" Vlahos?)

Jonathan Green, an esteemed author whose works include contributions to the Fighting Fantasy and Pax Britannia series, has written his own blog review of Knightmare in time for the CITV channel repeats.
