One of the interviewees in BBC Three's three-part documentary about Gaia Pope-Sutherland is her mother: named in the captions as Kim but better known to us as Natasha Pope (Velda, Brangwen and Morghanna in Knightmare Series 3, 1989). The story of Gaia's trauma, and her family's lasting heartbreak, is tragic and distressing. If there is one moment of light in the series, it's in Episode 3 when we see home video of Natasha/Kim at Dancing Ledge as a newlywed and mother-to-be, with references to happy times spent there. This would have been some time prior to 1998 so she looks similar to how we remember her from Knightmare. There are details of the family's campaigning on the Justice for Gaia website.

Most definitely! That's one of the things I enjoy about it: that while it was designed to be spooky for 12 year olds, it does actually work for adults.

There's an interview with Juliet in this month's issue (Issue 3) of the Curious British Telly fanzine. She mentions that she was in a lot of music videos; she names INXS as one of her favourites and AC/DC as another. This time it hasn't taken me quite so long to find: It's Are You Ready.

A good vocation for someone with that stage name!

Thanks so much, everyone - it's amazing to see some familiar names from a long time ago! It really did come as a complete surprise to me as well - I was struggling getting the narration part to sound right myself and then remembered about the series introductions in Knightmare and how his voice was absolutely perfect for over-the-top pretentious metal concept albums... so I looked up his agent, sent an email to her and she (being an incredibly nice woman!) just... sorted it all out. (I definitely had to carefully word the detail that the story was "based on the works of a Japanese author called Hato Moa" and desperately hoping she didn't Google it.) Even so many years on, I'm still not quite used to being an adult and being able to ask people to do things. I'm back on a Knightmare kick now thanks to this

While it's hard to say how much demand there will be for professional Father Christmases this year, here's an option from among the Knightmare cast: Bryan McNerney. https://www.bryanmcnerney.co.uk/news/father-christmas/ According to his website, 'Bryan's secret is that he actually talks to children – has real conversations with them' and 'sometimes he even leads them in a song or two – he has a beautiful, memorable voice'. A far cry from his non-verbal behaviour as Grimwold the ogre and the Behemoth 31 years ago (Series 3). Bryan (who was uncredited on Knightmare but later confirmed as the actor behind Grimwold) has also had a career as a TV historian and tour guide.

I stumbled on a Twitter thread from 2014 this morning that announced that Lawrence Werber, AKA Cedric the Mad Monk and Casper the Cr*ppy Key, was cast in a stageplay at the Finborough Theatre, called The Domino Heart. At the Knightmare Convention in 2014, Iona Kennedy (Sidriss, Greystagg, Maldame) told us that she appeared in the TV series Brum as Mrs. Posh. If you're curious about this, all episodes of Brum are now on iPlayer here. According to IMDb, Iona's episodes were: Brum and the Crazy Chair Chase (Series 3 Episode 35) Brum and the Cream Balloon (Series 3 Episode 29) Brum and the Snow Thieves (Series 3 Episode 14) Iona is due to be an interviewee on the Knightmare Live Twitch channel at some point.

In 2018, Edmund Dehn (Gumboil, the Giant, Igneous, Automatum, Knightmare Series 1-2) starred in Death of a Hunter, a one-man play about Ernest Hemingway, at the Finborough Theatre in London. At one point Rayner is seen through a"spy mirror" (similar to the conversation between Greystagg and Heggaty in the last episode of Series 6), and then tries to steal the object of the song name in question, which also gives him a roguish element akin to Julius Scaramonger.

Welcome back to the zone, Harvey! I remember you describing Joanne Heywood's Activia advert as 'quite a gig' and you could say the same here. It's certainly a big marketing campaign that Joanne is fronting. Perhaps her experience of young quartets on Knightmare gave her an edge. I wonder who's done more adverts: Joanne or Katharine Bennett-Fox (advisor on Team 3 of Series 4)? This year she's been in a We Buy Any Car advert with a tiny Phillip Schofield on her shoulder.

Just had a listen to this, a brilliant way to spend an hour! Great anecdotes, as well as some stuff I'd never heard before. Interesting pieces of music too. Lovely to hear Hugo getting a nice decent chunk of airtime. Well worth listening to if you haven't already!

I only just found out about this yesterday so apologies for the delay in responding. Very sad to hear about Bill's passing - it was an absolute pleasure to have met and interviewed him for my 25th Anniversary Documentary. Being a busy man that he was in his role as director for Actors In Industry, the company he had co-formed, I was very grateful that he was willing to spare an hour to talk about the characters he played on Knightmare as well as the memories he had of being on the show. We met at his company's office in London Bridge (as it happens, only a short walk away from where I work presently) where we recorded the interview in the office's cosy lounge downstairs. We began filming, where Bill shortly paused asking if we could restart the interview. He said this was because he suddenly felt able to go into a lot more detail about his time on Knightmare - I was more than happy for him to do this as it meant I would have additional content to work with when it came to working on the final version of the documentary. As the interview progressed, he got more and more into talking about being a part of an iconic programme as well his other acting work and how he then went on to co-founding his own company. The icing on the cake was when I got him to do his Snapper Jack quote, with a little recap from myself given that he obviously hadn't said it for quite some time. His interview was done in the early hours of a Thursday morning - really nice person to talk to and someone who was very passionate and active in everything that he did. Bill Cashmore is most certainly a man who is already missed indeed. Thank you for sharing this, James. I'm so glad he was part of the documentary.
