Reminds me of Knightmare

He has also been in another local news article this year. I wonder if his fellow campaigner Allan Myatt is related to Hugo?

I casually read through Retro Gamer magazine today while standing in WH Smith, and chanced across a feature on a game named Knightmare - only not one of the ones based on our Knightmare. It's a scrolling shoot-'em-up in a mediaeval setting, and there's some information about it here - it even features a "Nightmare Castle"! While doing a bit of research, I stumbled across another strange connection: Miki Higashino, the composer for the game, also composed the music for another game... called Life Force! COINCIDENCE? YOU DECIDE!* (*Yes, it's a coincidence.)

Victoria Segal's review in today's Sunday Times' Culture supplement of BBC3's Murder In Successville calls it 'a bizarre cross between Stella Street and the "interactive" children's television shows of the 1980s.' I think it's fair to assume that she has Knightmare in mind because she referred to it in another review only two weeks ago.

I did watch it but I wasn't to keen on it, it did have an interesting concept and could have been something really cool, but ended up being a little naff and a poor KM substitute. (I liked the Fish and the castle level) I'm not completely negative towards it, I just didn't get into it at the time, (too old maybe) I also think part of the disappointment at the time comes from it not being KM, which is what i wanted. Overall I find it boring, but looking back it wasn't terrible.. badly timed perhaps. I did however love Time Busters but that's another topic.

Shockingly there is no mention of Treguard in this children's TV presenters poll (though Pat Sharp got in there!), but someone on the Points Of View messageboard chose him as their favourite.

The two-part BBC wildlife documentary Snow Wolf Family and Me featured howling white wolves, as Winteria in Knightmare Series 5 did (according to Pickle). Haha, I thought of Knightmare as well, when Gordon was explaining how the cubs are born dark and turn white as adults.

I think Hugo and Mark reprising their roles 25 years on, streamed on a remote corner of the internet, would be a sad parody of Knightmare's hay day, when Millions of Kids tuned in. Something influenced by Knightmare, but clearly set apart and new from the original would be safest. Anyways the David Rowe book on the way, convention, challenge tv repeats, geek week and Knightmare live rolling until Nov, a noble victory at sea for this website and a great achievement.

Good stuff. Although strangely enough I did much better in the space adventure than I did the Dungeon. It was just how the rooms were laid out, I guess...

Ah someone moved my post,, I thought it had been deleted, didn't realise there was already a topic. Yes according to PWH is was sold and sent to a park in Irag, it's a real pity, But the cost was just way out of budget. Never been to any of theses popular theme parks, one of the things I like but never ever get round to doing/visiting. Other than the Hills I have been to Heide Park Resort in Germany when I lived out there in the late 80s/early 90s.

To the best of my knowledge, neither Arachne nor Ariadne were portrayed or worshipped as goddesses (even though Ariadne married a god). If there's an expert on the Classical world who has firm evidence to the contrary then I'd be interested to read their argument. Thanks for the Medusa link. There was in fact another, completely separate Medusa in Greco-Roman mythology. She tried to win King Minos' affections by presenting him with her father's magic purple hair. It didn't work. Medusas never could avoid weird hair situations. It only occurred to me recently (during a reread of Annie's fanfic The March of Progress) that the skeletrons probably owe something to Ray Harryhausen. Going back to unintended Knightmare references: Last Christmas' Doctor Who special. When Tasha Lem's giant head appeared in the sky to speak to the Doctor, I thought of Malice and Morghanna. According to the current issue of Time Out (Treguard's favourite magazine), Stepney City Farm has a 'therapeutic rabbit' named Pooka.

Quite amused by the lesson it teaches, though - don't even joke about being on Knightmare! People so desperately want it to be true, it's not something you can easily take back. It would have been easy enough for India Knight to delete her tweet about it (which in turn would have undone all the 80+ retweets) and/or to tweet a retraction, but she seemed either too stubborn or too apathetic to do so. It doesn't reflect well on her as a Sunday Times journalist. Here's hoping that given the nature of Twitter, Jamie Reed's falsehood will soon be lost beneath layers of sediment if it hasn't already been, and that he can find all the adventure he needs in the House of Commons.
