Reminds me of Knightmare

Intriguing

The name rings a bell, and I'm sure I saw it on the 8 bit computers of the 1980s such as the Commodore or Amstrad even. i used to have a game called Questron about 1984 and it was a bit like Knightmare in a sense where you would go on adventures, and meet people and fierce creatures and have to make important decisions to determine the rest of the game and collect spells and magic potions and near the end you would enter the catacombs and underground dungeons and meet all kinds of nasty things, I spent hours on this at the time. Unfortunately there was a bug in the game that meant it was impossible to complete the game, you get about 90 per cent of the way through and the game would crash, it was very frustrating, but very much like knightmare if you ever played it back in the day.

Raven is a fantastic programme and as you may know, I've written a magazine on it called The Raven's Eye at http://www.freewebs.com/ravenseyemag. There are some links with Knightmare with kids being put in a medieval-themed game show with a bearded host and I guess Knightmare and Raven appealed to the same part in me. We haven't had a new series since March 2010 nor any repeats since August 2010 so I've started a petition to bring back Raven to our screens. I listen to a lot of comedy on the radio, and one that I've got into recently is "Elvenquest". And it's recently occurred to me, the villain, Lord Darkness, is a little bit like Lord Fear - at least Alistair MacGowan's portrayal of him certainly is.

A friend's window was cracked recently by a woman who'd been aiming for her ex's window next door. She had thrown a pair of frozen knickers.

I see what you mean. On the balance of things, I'd be inclined to say that it's not him. But I'm prepared to be shown that I'm wrong

The Portal 2 soundtrack has always given me a very strong later season KM vibe, specifically Marblehead. It's the fusion of electronic and orchestral that makes it perfect technosorcery music. There's a specific track that is perfect for a winning quest's final showdown and subsequent escape from Lord Fear, called The Part Where He Kills You. Listen and, at 1:13, try to imagine grabbing a quest object and running like hell.

On an unrelated note, last week someone working on a crossword asked me about the spelling of the word vim. LOL - I hope you answered suitably slowly!

A few KMers (myself included) met up at the London Film and Comic Con at Earl's Court last Saturday (9th July). During a Cosplay performance which we stayed to watch, there was one character we saw whose name just happened to be Lillith! First person horror adventure by Frictional Games, the people who worked on the Penumbra series. You explore a castle, constantly trying to keep one step ahead of some malignant horrific something that wants to do you in. You have no weapons, and the only way to stay alive when dealing with the shambling parodies of humanity that skulk through the corridors is to run and hide and hope to the God that doesn't exist that they do not find you because if they do you will die alone and crying and forgotten at the hands of something terrible that hates you and wants you to DIE*[/b]* ... yeah. It's no exagerration to say that this is quite possibly the scariest game I have ever played. And it is MAGNIFICENT. An indie adventure has succeeded where so many A-List Shooters has totally failed - creating a genuine atmosphere of fear and terror. THIS is what a Knightmare for adults should be like. Don't believe me? Check out the prison section. There is a reason why I call this "the dungeon".

Since discovering the cyberpunk genius that is Max Headroom - Twenty Minutes into the Future, I am quite tempted to rewatch Incredible Games. I have a feeling I will appreciate the host on an entirely new level. You do know that the host for the first series is none other than David Walliams from Little Britain. As for New KM, it reminded me of the 2004 Edmund Dehn interview on this site, where he said "And it may interest some to hear that, while I was on the show, there were rumours of an adult (as in grown up, not as in blue!) version of Knightmare with suitably more challenging tests & set in a futuristic spaceship-type environment rather than a mediaeval dungeon. I wonder what happened?!!". It sounds similar to this new show.

I've never played Ico, but the videos of it online are evocative. If the game is a must for KMers with PS2s, it would be good to think that Ico devotees are KM fans waiting to happen. Not long after this topic expired, hopes were raised elsewhere of Knightmare/Ico crossover fanart. I wonder if it was completed and is out there somewhere.

This the game show that had a bright purple "UpsideDown Room"? As the game progressed the entire room would start rocking from side to side like a seesaw? Otherwise known as the Nightmare Room funnily enough The others were: The Shrinking Room, Boris' Tower and the "Stinky Sink" If any of you lot want the theme tune to the show I have it

I would have been in my last year of Infants school! I loved Count Duckular - and have bought the DVDS! I couldn't wait for the second series of Knightmare With only twenty minutes to go, my mum would have brought me a cup of Tea, and probably a sandwich, wait for Series two of Knightmare, then lights off, fire on, volume up and away we go....!

I get up to the bits with the shield and the bend and that. It's too much like hard work by then, and the game isn't finished to boot.
