In the early series, there seems to have been a definitive, specific, laid out path. An item was used in a particular location and if you didn't have the item (for whatever reason) when it was needed then you died. The problem is that this lead to the situation where you can do badly in the clue room and still get through the dungeon by being lucky with your selection of items. On the other hand, if you did well, picked up exactly the right items, but missed a clue (or didn't understand the advice given) you were certainly dead. So bad teams could progress and good teams could fail, and it wasn't necessarily clear why. Later series seem to have eased up on this and there always seems to have been an alternative approach available for taking the wrong items (at least in level 1).

Could someone please help? I'd really like to see the extended version. You can now watch the original upload of the extended Geek Week episode here. There's also a later upload here. Let us know what you think of it. Something I've only just noticed: the first thing to happen in the episode is a facing-away-from-the-camera sidestep (by Veruca). Surely deliberate? Thank you! Great to see the extra stuff! Also nice to hear the opening theme tune fade out naturally without the door-creaking-open sound effect at the end.

Hugo has been known to make a few cameo appearances at Knightmare Live performances - both he and Mark Knight featured at the Leicester Square Theatre performance in November last year.

I wonder if the Lords Of The Game pilot will forever remain a convention exclusive or if there might still be any future opportunity to see it. (And the pilot eps of Knightmare, for that matter. Would be cool if Tim could dig them out for the 40th anniversary next year!) I fear it’s unlikely. The pilot was filmed as “not for broadcast” so I imagine that legally it cannot be distributed. We did ask if we could include it on the DVD but although he gave it serious consideration, Tim said nay. I fear the pilots may have the same status

I'd go on the quest to find Treguard's chair. He seems to have misplaced it in season 8.

The only teams really who could be forgiven in the COB are season 4 teams especially team 2 they were the very first people to enter the COB they had no idea what to expect at all. Everyone else should have done homework after that series.

The first helmet I'll remember when it comes to Knight will always be the horned helmet. It put me off to see that new helmet was used from series 7 but it slowly began to grow on me. ...but I can give a better view by drawing better. here

Wow! I live near Rotherham and had many a trip there when I was a lad. Used to love imagining it was part of Knightmare. Mind you, where I live there are plenty of great locations for that - woods, lakes etc

If anyone doesn't know, the chatroom returned last weekend after an absense of several months. If anyone's available after 7pm on Friday and weekends, why not come in sometime? When there's people in it can be pretty cool! See you there, hopefully!

I discovered this myself a while ago, and meant to mention it to you. Having David Rowe, the Knightmare Dungeon's architect himself, working up the road is not a bad KM connection!

That's right. S1 ran from Monday 7th September to Monday 26th October 1987 and S2 ran from Monday 5th September to Monday 19th December 1988.

Well you could always invite Pickle and cue him to comment thus: "Ooooh Master, White Wedding!" You're referring, I think, to Pickle's remark on the white wolves of Winteria in Series 5. Now if only there were another pun that could encompass a colour, a Knightmare character and some aspect of the phrase 'stag night' too... Seriously, the fact that you've made those props is a fine example of Knightmare's lasting popularity and influence, and I hope you drop by the forum again to show some photos to us. Edit: I note from your entry in the knightmare.com guestbook that the stag night is tonight. I hope it's going well.

The VT clock for the first episode has the number H118697/DE, I think. The number rises each episode so that by the last episode of Series 1 it's H118704/DE. No idea what it means, though!

The only way Knightmare could ever have been completely fair, in the strictest sense, would be if every single team had an identical quest and each gave it their best shot. Obviously this would be terribly repetitive television and as is the case with all game/quiz shows the creators simply have to do the best they can to make the challenges approximately equal in each case. In situations of people being allowed to "cheat death" when it appears others were denied that opportunity, it might also be worth considering what might have gone on that didn't make the final edit - who knows how often teams that were harshly treated might have made almighty blunders that had to be cut from the programme? I'd imagine their general demeanour off-camera might play a reasonable part in determining whether or not the producers would be willing to cut them a little slack!

I heard once that Lord Fear has a love of Quiches... Hush-finger gesture But you didn't hear it from me! Just because Lord Fear has a certain amount of celebrity doesn't give you the right to write these libellous "Quiche-and-Tell" stories.
