In the early series, there seems to have been a definitive, specific, laid out path. An item was used in a particular location and if you didn't have the item (for whatever reason) when it was needed then you died. The problem is that this lead to the situation where you can do badly in the clue room and still get through the dungeon by being lucky with your selection of items. On the other hand, if you did well, picked up exactly the right items, but missed a clue (or didn't understand the advice given) you were certainly dead. So bad teams could progress and good teams could fail, and it wasn't necessarily clear why. Later series seem to have eased up on this and there always seems to have been an alternative approach available for taking the wrong items (at least in level 1).

Could someone please help? I'd really like to see the extended version. You can now watch the original upload of the extended Geek Week episode here. There's also a later upload here. Let us know what you think of it. Something I've only just noticed: the first thing to happen in the episode is a facing-away-from-the-camera sidestep (by Veruca). Surely deliberate? Thank you! Great to see the extra stuff! Also nice to hear the opening theme tune fade out naturally without the door-creaking-open sound effect at the end.

Hugo has been known to make a few cameo appearances at Knightmare Live performances - both he and Mark Knight featured at the Leicester Square Theatre performance in November last year.

I wonder if the Lords Of The Game pilot will forever remain a convention exclusive or if there might still be any future opportunity to see it. (And the pilot eps of Knightmare, for that matter. Would be cool if Tim could dig them out for the 40th anniversary next year!) I fear it’s unlikely. The pilot was filmed as “not for broadcast” so I imagine that legally it cannot be distributed. We did ask if we could include it on the DVD but although he gave it serious consideration, Tim said nay. I fear the pilots may have the same status

I'm gonna go with Willowherb here and cast my vote for Series 2. Watching it against the later series, it just seems much more active. (and there's no bloody purple woodlands) A close second is Series 6, which has a special importance for me, but I digress. A lot of S5's problems got corrected in S6, now if only Majida had been added in that series...

Series 3 - team 2 was unfair treguard didnt even hint them to listen to mcgrews pleading. Also Martins was harsh but having said that he didnt get the magic and in series 3 one mistake = death. Series 6 Sophia team this was harsh sure they didnt get the diploma but they deliberatly wernt even given time to have a guess and attempt it. Yet bens team before cleared it but didnt have every number and they guessed one point of it hmmmm.

I think there were 4 teams in series 4 that got to level 3. Considering there were only 8 teams in the series this is impressive. I don't think there were any level one deaths at all either, and most of the level 2 deaths were toward the end of the level. Perhaps it was an easier series because series 3 had been so hard? Or perhaps there were just great teams. And in series 5 as you say only 2 people got to level 3, which seems to imply level 2 was tricky. I think they must have thought level 2 in series 4 was too easy, so increased the difficulty of level 2 to make it harder. This might account for the reason that only two teams reached level 3 in the fifth series. Hope that makes some sort of sense. Agree with everything you say except the series which has just been on level 1 was not easy two was tricky. In past series they also went over the top with the lifeforce meeter sometimes they could of only worked through two doors & life force would be low.

The fact that so many of us still love the programme is a definite testament to how good it was. They say the real test of how good a children's book is is by how many people still like it when they're grown up. I don't see why TV programmes should be any different. Of course, there's probably not many of us who think all the Knightmare series were good - as an adult I definitely prefer the early seasons - but I'd still watch any of 'em. The Dungeon rules!

A good use that the Life Force Clock had - censoring deaths that were otherwise too grisly for children's TV.

I wonder if Gretel and Smelly Sandra fought to see who could be the most pointlessly overenthusiastic and sickening. They're probably both now working on a TV Shopping channel pouring excessive enthusiasm over some trashy jewelry.

When the main site is working properly, which it doesn't seem to be at the moment (It's working but not properly I mean). Welcome to the forum Amorya. Not bad for your first post, quoting that is. You seem to be familiar with forums then . There are quite a few fans in this forum community over 450, well maybe not quite that many. On the main forum page towards the bottom you can see how many members are logged in and how many guests are lurking. Also along the blue bar near the top of the pages if you click on where it says members, there's a list of every single registered active member of this forum. I don't know if you already knew that though.

Hehe, I wish I'd been around for this conversation. I so dislike most of this weird language that appears on forums and such on the Web. So hurrah for this discussion. Or should I say "w00t w00t"? The answer is "no", dear reader. I should not.

What I think's rather a good sound effect is that the frantic screams of the advisors are heard echoing away as Alistair falls down the wellway. They were an extremely excitable lot and, even allowing for the fact that they would never have seen it before (being the guinea pigs, as it were) they never stood a chance in the corridor of blades.  Bit like the second team in another series Chris
