In the early series, there seems to have been a definitive, specific, laid out path. An item was used in a particular location and if you didn't have the item (for whatever reason) when it was needed then you died. The problem is that this lead to the situation where you can do badly in the clue room and still get through the dungeon by being lucky with your selection of items. On the other hand, if you did well, picked up exactly the right items, but missed a clue (or didn't understand the advice given) you were certainly dead. So bad teams could progress and good teams could fail, and it wasn't necessarily clear why. Later series seem to have eased up on this and there always seems to have been an alternative approach available for taking the wrong items (at least in level 1).

Could someone please help? I'd really like to see the extended version. You can now watch the original upload of the extended Geek Week episode here. There's also a later upload here. Let us know what you think of it. Something I've only just noticed: the first thing to happen in the episode is a facing-away-from-the-camera sidestep (by Veruca). Surely deliberate? Thank you! Great to see the extra stuff! Also nice to hear the opening theme tune fade out naturally without the door-creaking-open sound effect at the end.

Hugo has been known to make a few cameo appearances at Knightmare Live performances - both he and Mark Knight featured at the Leicester Square Theatre performance in November last year.

I wonder if the Lords Of The Game pilot will forever remain a convention exclusive or if there might still be any future opportunity to see it. (And the pilot eps of Knightmare, for that matter. Would be cool if Tim could dig them out for the 40th anniversary next year!) I fear it’s unlikely. The pilot was filmed as “not for broadcast” so I imagine that legally it cannot be distributed. We did ask if we could include it on the DVD but although he gave it serious consideration, Tim said nay. I fear the pilots may have the same status

I've got books 2-6 and the board game, which is quite good, if a little complicated for non-KM-knowledgeable people!  And then I've got ahem videos of Series 3, 4, 6 and soon 5...

Off the top of my head there's also: James and Matthew Walker (Series 3 Team 2) Giles and Brett Milner (Series 4 Team 8 ) Ian and Deborah Healy (Series 5 Team 8 ) Keeley and Karen Mitchell (Series 5 Team 9) Neil and Richard Cobb (Series 7 Team 3)

I'm not tim child but I must say, id love to be on the knew series. Also if the audience decided weekly what should happen to the unsuspecting victim, the dungeoneer would have wait a week to continue his quest whilst they get the votes in, and what is the quest kept going on - the dungeoneer would have to live near the studio, but i appreciate this thread.

The Corridor of Blades was the only reason I can even remember Knightmare that well I was young and stupid at the time. The knightmares I had of that room haunted me for years, enough for me to remember more rooms in the later series' I can remember, I used to hate it when I was younger and was scared of it, lol.

And the reason why treguard says " I shouldnt look any more" is because hes trying to cover up the fact that the goblins dont actually do anything

I knew a few of the questions and I'm 15 but quite alot of them gave me trouble. If I was to go on Knightnare the Wall Monster would probably have of kill me^_^ Actually if Knightmare was to be revived, the questions would have to be slightly easier since todays youth seems to be rather dumb, and I think they changed the Year 10 and above education system slightly.

Series 5 also gave us Lord Fear, Sylvester Hands, Scarkill, spyglasses and scrolls. The only thing that doesn't make it one of my absolute favourite series is that it moves rather slowly sometimes. Series 6 changed all that, of course. Thinking about it, series 5 was an even braver move than series 4 because of all the changes. It was radically different from what was being done as little as two years previously.

It's also quite fun, in retrospect, to watch their reaction while Treguard is DISMISSing them. Some of them take their defeat well, there are some who seem on the verge of laughing, some almost crying, plus my personal favourites- the ones who violently attack their clipboards with a pencil, and those who are already looking accusingly at one another in preparation for the war of words once they're clear of the studio door. I bet there were some ugly words said and tears shed in the taxi home.

Hmmm, I dunno about that second idea. You see, dungeoneers, we have noticed, tend mostly to be dim, while the advisors guide them 'round the dungeon! Only Barry could've dealt with what to say without help from his advisors... ...but then again, he could've done the quest on his own... "Right, I'm going down a corridor, and I'm turning left..."  ;D

I work with little kidsies so I deal with them a lot - Lego, duplo, stickle bricks, etc. Also I do have some odd pices of lego and one or two pieces of duplo lying around my house somewhere.

I must say that I prefer the series 1-3 dungeon, before they went on safari. I prefer the graphics; lots of nice colours. I also like the fact that each room was different to the last one - you never knew what was coming next. Looking at it psychologically, I'd imagine the inside dungeon would be better at creating suspense because the Dungeoneer is trapped. In a wood, there is somewhere to run to. It is, after all, a far friendlier environment (in terms of human instinct). Also, the action and pace tends to get a bit diluted when there are Eye Shield sequences every few minutes. I'm not sure what a mixture of outdoors and indoors would be like. Mind you, if the outdoor scenery looks as nice as the series 1-3 style dungeon (not to mention the indoor scenery!) and if the pace is maintained (which I'm sure would be the case now that the need for guiding has been dispensed with) I think it could work. Then again, I've never really been a fan of the more Tolkein/Pratchett-esque side of the show. I've always loved the sci-fi flavour that the show has always seemed to have ("manifestation," the Life Force clock and the clever play-on-words in spellcasting, to name a few examples) but particularly so in the early series. I quite liked the Technomancy theme in later series but I think that was mentioned and discussed too explicitly. In the early series the underlying sci-fi theme was only ever implied, nothing more. I think that's flasher and, ultimately, more menacing.
