In the early series, there seems to have been a definitive, specific, laid out path. An item was used in a particular location and if you didn't have the item (for whatever reason) when it was needed then you died. The problem is that this lead to the situation where you can do badly in the clue room and still get through the dungeon by being lucky with your selection of items. On the other hand, if you did well, picked up exactly the right items, but missed a clue (or didn't understand the advice given) you were certainly dead. So bad teams could progress and good teams could fail, and it wasn't necessarily clear why. Later series seem to have eased up on this and there always seems to have been an alternative approach available for taking the wrong items (at least in level 1).

Could someone please help? I'd really like to see the extended version. You can now watch the original upload of the extended Geek Week episode here. There's also a later upload here. Let us know what you think of it. Something I've only just noticed: the first thing to happen in the episode is a facing-away-from-the-camera sidestep (by Veruca). Surely deliberate? Thank you! Great to see the extra stuff! Also nice to hear the opening theme tune fade out naturally without the door-creaking-open sound effect at the end.

I wonder if the Lords Of The Game pilot will forever remain a convention exclusive or if there might still be any future opportunity to see it. (And the pilot eps of Knightmare, for that matter. Would be cool if Tim could dig them out for the 40th anniversary next year!) I fear it’s unlikely. The pilot was filmed as “not for broadcast” so I imagine that legally it cannot be distributed. We did ask if we could include it on the DVD but although he gave it serious consideration, Tim said nay. I fear the pilots may have the same status

Does anybody know of any time where a dungeoneer seems to have missed getting an item/spell/password/clue from a character, but survived anyway? I was wondering whether, if any information was just say, which door to take or a causeway combination, the team would have been allowed to survive if they missed the information, but took what would have been the correct door/path by a fluke? Has this ever happened?

I always think a lot of Series 4 was desperate to show off the Eye Shield and the footage they had - one can often tell by the way the camera swings round from side to side unncessarily to capture more of the background. The problems seemed to occur when the Eye Shield became an escape from normal directions. In later series, whilst the eye shield was used sparingly, it was no longer used as a tool for teams to avoid guiding a dungeoneer out of an awkward spot. However, in S4, it was rather bemusing to see a dungeoneer scuttle off at some rather poor angle towards the door, and holding up the Eye Shield miraculously drew them into the right direction. Overrated and overused with its introduction, better in later years.

Hi, has anyone ever noticed that in series 3 (as well as other series) the characters present between each episode would rotate, and not as such change from quest to quest For example Mellisandre was present in the epsidode with both the end of Team 8 (died through a bomb) and the start of team 9 (she waved them on for some pointless reason), and yet was not present in the immediate episode after with the same team. Therefore i jusify that the actors worked on a pro-episode shift, hence going through the actors until it reached their turn again

I'm not actually sure that I found that many rooms actually 'tense'. For me it was more the frustration of the advisors not getting a move on and telling their dungeoneer what to do. Did anyone else not find it really frustrating that the first few words as the dungeoneer enterd every single room was... 'Where am I?' 'You're in a room...' I'm suprised one of the dungeoneers didn't go... 'REALLY?, what? A ROOM! Goodness, I was expecting to be outside in the middle of a storm wearing a lightning conductor on my head...'

I like the conversations and banter between TC and Dibble! A lot of them make me laugh. Does anyone still watch it? for those who don't know and used to watch it and some others you can watch it on Boomerang, which I think is owned by Cartoon Network!

Well I had a look, and there was no team that died in the Card Room with a Dungeoneer/Advisor called Ben. That'll be because his friends called Brian. Well, i'm an idiot  ;D

The face was best, imo. Incidentally, does anyone know how it was done? It's such a stunningly sophisticated animation - it still looks good today.

iAnd the more i think of it im sure we saw it in season 3.. didn't the team use a spell and turned into one? There was such a chap, and a team did use a spell to turn into an armoured figure in order to scare off Queen Grimwold and her pooch. However, Treguard definitely referred to the armoured chap in S3 as a Behemoth, even if it was exactly the same armoured chap as was called a Frightknight in S4.

I use Koepi's XVID build for the encodes. I've not really noticed much difference with this one and Nic's build to be honest!

Areadnie wasn't too intimidating, the dreadnought was a baby's thing.   Causeways were really intensifying, and who can forget the dreaded corridoor of blades? only some dungeoneers survived that.   From earlier series the bomb rooms were farily intense and, perhaps my favourite room, was the dread medusa, now that was intensity and a half as dungeoneers would freeze if they were not careful, and you never knew whether they were being careful or not.   Oh, and of course, the trolls - when you heard those footsteps get louder, it alll got so intensifying and thrilling.

a couple of things...first of all I'd like to thank redmage, gg for clarifying some of my points. secondly i'd like to offer a much more calm apolergy to dan as i do respect his opinion and value his opinion of me. if i hadn't been in the mood i said i was i would have thought for two seconds and just deleted what i said about waiting till i as calm...i can't claim i usually would as i've proved that i don't before but i will say i had somethings i wanted to say and it was my inability to get them across fully to dan that was annoying me most. about the AVI's vs VHS. their illegality wasn't in question and i didn't mean people could prove what was on your hard-drive. what i meant was if we had a guy looking for evidence of illegal episode trading he couldn't point from afar to your VHS' as he has no proof, but pointing to some webspace were anyone can download them is pretty easy by comparison. this is why, especially for an internet based community i feel it poses a stronger threat than VHS piracy, illegality regardless, to the cause erm..."woefully naive about the chances of success". What i'll say is that no matter what the chances are...uploading eps will only ever have one of two reactions with G.M dan's suggestion of "ow look, free advertising...goodie" redmage's suggestion of "passable material deminishes our sales...screw them" as, you said with our chances so small the second is by far the more likely so surely we shouldn't give them that foothold? leggy -  ;D as ever

im actually back up Knightmare is on in 20 mins - gunna watch it AGAIN A few of the "unforced" deaths could also simply have been a "losing" dungeoneer getting killed off It would have been a quick way to get the team out of the game once the next group arrived.   No, not by my definition.  Any team that is being killed off is a forced death.  Or are you meaning 'we were going to kill this team off, but they managed to do something stupid anyway'? My point here is that it might be hard to tell if the team are being killed off (forced death) or if they have actually made the mistake here via their directions (unforced death) Killing a team off by showing them to guide their dungeoneer off a ledge would be the quickest way to get them out of the game once they become a "losing" team. In the event that there wasnt enough time to let them continue to a point where their mistake would become apparent they could have used this - although yeah in some cases it probablly stupidity  ;D I'm not sure I believe it, though - it might well be true of later seasons where there was a definite storyline to complete, but the earlier series (1 through 4) were definitely not storyline-driven - there was no ongoing plot.  I'll have to wait until next week to see if I can determine Robin's team making a mistake or not... the last team in Series 3 though I don't think had gone wrong at any point, so it's hard to see how they could be in 'losing' status. There doesnt need to be a storyline or detailed plot (the main goal has always been the same - to get to the end of level  3 and get the quest object) all that is needed is a preselected series of obsticles which the dungeoneer will face and set objects and spells which the dungeoneer must collect in order to pass the obsticles. a "winning" team could (and have)become "losing" team after the first clue room just by taking the wrong object. In series 3 the last team could have lost this way but were kept on as the end of the season was so near and they couldn't risk the next team still being "winners" by the actual end. Theoretically they could have made the wrong choice in the level1 clue room and were allowed to continue with their quest edited to 'carry' them untill the dungeon began to break up. Perhaps we were MEANT to think that they were a winning team that was ripped from their quest. As a child watching this you would probably have thought they were rescued - just in time - from the disintegrating dungeon and that it was this which bad fortune ended their quest. Jeez another long post, Knightmare has already started!

How about a KM Game done in as point-and-click game for the most part. (Simualr to Monkey Island etc,) The game can be done in a simular propective to that of which the camaras show you in the TV show. The game will be played by clicking on the area you want to go, the things you want to say, the stuff in the clue room you want to select. The spells and items to be used can be selected from either the pause screen or from a small menu at the bottom. In that menu you can also see your life force, which you need to restore with food or spells. In certain places like the Corridor of Blades or Block and tackle etc, to goes to 3rd person mode and you need to use the arrow keys to aviod the gaps, blocks or blades etc. You can create yourself at the start of the quest, like what clothes you are wearing, gender,  what helmet of justice you are wearing ect  You can also pick what style your life force is, either the face, the walking man, the pie/cake/quiche or a heartbeat thingy. With Arcengel's Lord Fear modes idea maybe you can have mates play as the dungeonere in the dungeon that you made, with you trying to stop them. So in it as one player mode you got the dungeonere has A.I which can be only be so smart, but a human play would be more of a challange to stop as they can learn how you build your dungeons and think of other ways to get around the problems.
