Well, that would be a temptation for them.
I think I'd have it stop giving useful information after a while. They'd probably get the clue to move on when it tells them what Hordriss uses to create those fabulous red streaks in his hair.
And Treguard would give a few hints about the threat to life force. But there'd still be a danger of being greedy and listening too long.

i remember everyone breaking the news to me that there was no such things as dragons a couple of years ago and seeing the skin and skeleton that was smirky.

In Leo's quest in series 3, Mogdred was saying to take off the helmet. What do you think it would have actually looked like if he had done that? Incidentally, in the Knightmare gamebook, "The Labyrinths of Fear", at one point, you can get asked a riddle by Mordred (pretty much identical to Mogdred), and if you choose one of the wrong answers, Mordred lifts the Helmet of Justice, and the text says "and it is best not to relate what happens next". That is the sort of text that might be used to avoid giving gruesome detail, the reader being supposed to know what actually happens. i can't get it though. (Incidentally, I hate books that leave everything unexplained, assuming that the reader will figure it out. I remember reading a book once - a horror story - where it mentioned that the main character worked out all the mysteries, but the reader was not told. This is sometimes used if it is obvious, but I didn't get it. I found this unsatisfying, particularly because I wasn't sure whether the main character even survived in the end - or whether she died. I guess that she died from the way the book ended).

I mean, there were some hideously ugly people and hairstyles under that helmet, and it's expensive to replace camera's, ya know. ;D
Seriously, though - I just guess you'd see 'em lift up the helmet, a quick flash of lightening, and then the usual 'Bong, Bong - you dead' sequence.
That's what I think, anyway.

Treguard has always stated that the Helmet is "to protect you from being destroyed by illusion". Seeing is believing, after all.
Regarding books and such being vague, I think that if done correctly it can be very thought-provoking; it leaves a lot to the readers' imagination. Sometimes, what you don't know/see is far more effective than what you do - take Festus, for example. I'll bet there's not a single one of us who didn't try to imagine what he looked like.

Since I've written quite a few stories I know 'something' about writing..... Like Mally said its thought-provoking
and besides the whole lot of my stories would have been rewritten and censored if I wrote what happened in those trust-me-you-dont-want-to-know-whats-going-to-happen-next.... Some things are best left unkown. Sice Knightmare was a 'kids show' the parts would have been censored anyways. That lightning bit is interesting though

I think my stories would have been censored anyways... theyre too weird for anyone else....The main villain is about to destroy the heroess and her friend when the friend starts babblinga bout movies and the main villain happily chats about those movies and forgets destroying them.... (one of the weird parts on mi storie) -
The heroine thought so too, plus theres my guardian wolf Hukka Sukka Tukke Kukka Nukkavieru who sometimes pops up in my stories...
Anyways back to the topic..... I cant think of anythign to say right now

I usually have dinosaurs, dragons, and fluffies (dogs, cats any furry creature) in my stories (actually there werent fluffies until my newest story The Secret Of Shadow-Forest).

Just come accros this thread again and I happen to have my copy of 'The Labyrinths of Fear' to hand - and the paragraph I was referring to was section 28. Could somebody give me an idea of what might have actually happened there? That kind of writing (in general) is often used when it is obvious what has happened/is happening, but it is not obvious here.

If he had removed his helmet I am 100% sure he would have died Floating Skull's idea of lightening sounds correct. With regards to stories I have one written as a short story for some coursework which has spanned 6pages and I still wasnt happy with the ending. I was going to make 3 short stories as a brief trilogy but we may not cover that writing style again

In Series 3, various Dungeoneers are actually told to remove the helmet - or rather, lift it above their heads - so that they can hear the potentially helpful babblings of the otherwise-silent Oracle. A device whereby they found out one of the 'steps' for Merlin's room.
There is also an interesting helmet-removing scene in the 3rd Knightmare gamebook, The Fortress Of Assassins. If you are naive enough to follow the instructions on a chest and make a wish before removing your helmet and opening the lid, a bogart springs out, throws sleep dust in your exposed face, and steals everything you have. Treguard gets pretty annoyed!
The issue of removing the helmet is certainly an intriguing one.

It is true however that before lifting up the helmet to listen to the oracle, Treguard says to keep thier eyes closed! So Mally's theory is still appropriate, and probalbly the best theory for actually having a helmet!
As for Labyrinths of Fear, Im usually dead way before meeting Mogdread! I remember one time I ate the silver grapes......I advise everyone, DONT EAT SILVER GRAPES!
