My Up Comeing Fan Fiction.

I meant that allusions to that type of thing are sometimes cool, since they give you more scope to explore other things. Of course I wouldn't suggest anyone writing a Reference Manual. As I clearly said in the original post, it's something dry enough that people wouldn't want to make it a main focus of their fanfic.
-
Actually some kind of reference manual, for instance a full Knightmare dictionary or A-Z, wouldn't be a bad idea at all.
It wouldn't be something you could sit down and read all the way through, but could be helpful if people are trying to remember something from the series. They could look it up instead of posting questions on here and then waiting ages for someone to come up with the answer.
I'll suggest it on the feedback board...
As for a fanfic that offers (possible) explanations, yes, that's fine, several of my own do that. What I'm saying is, it shouldn't be the whole point of the story. There should be an overriding storyline that is driven by itself, not by decoding technical jiggerypokery.

Yes, Velda actually started something like an A-Z, at least of characters, but last time I checked I couldn't get the link to work. It was good stuff, and really could have been extended to cover other stuff alphabetically. Plus, of course, there's soom for general FAQ answers to KM questions.

I wasn't suggesting anything different, as is clear in the last sentence. Just nice texture occasionally if you can think up something original like that, to go alongside genuinely engaging and entertaining stuff.

Yeah, a proper, fuller, much more comprehensive FAQ is what we need.
In fact, why don't I do that? To the Feedback board we goooooooo...

Update: Right I have done away with the basic getting the quest season on and introducing the dungeoneer, now I am ready to add in the part that will make this story unique! However I have tons of work to be doing this weekend and so progress may be sloooow

As promised here is a preview of my wonderful new fan fiction;
Treguard sat in his antechamber and gave a sigh. It had been ten years since the last quest had been brought to a swift end thanks to phase shift. The dungeon often took a long time to shift back into phase but this was the longest wait by far. After the 8th phase then much changed in the dungeon, Majida had longed to see the world, which was wider than the dusty old antechamber.
Treguard had granted her this wish and now he was alone. Treguard wouldn’t mind this too much, he had been alone for 3 phases and he’d got along fine, besides he loved the peace and quiet. However he missed the great battle with the opposition and the constant struggle between good and evil, seeing if the brave dungeoneer had what it took to pass the trials and tribulations of the dungeon. Yet now he had little to do but polish the helmet of justice, clean various relics and items and reminisce about old times.
It was on one of these long days when he was halfway through re reading “Potions and Spells for all Occasions” when the communications pool began to splash and activates. Treguard took a brisk walk towards it hoping for some news, anything to add a bit of the old spice back into his life. A face appeared in the pool; it was the face of Hordriss the Confuser, and Hordriss looked delighted with himself, which Treguard assumed to mean he had something to brag about. Treguard prepared to humour Hordriss.
“One hopes one finds you well Dungeon Master” Hordriss said without giving Treguard time to answer, “One is most pleased to inform you that the dungeon is shifting back into phase. One supposes you had better prepare yourself and your dungeoneers for this phase shall be the toughest ever!”
Had Hordriss not been watching then Treguard would’ve jumped for joy. Treguard said a hasty goodbye to Hordriss and then sent out scrolls to those who had volunteered to take up the challenge. Time was turning, Treguard himself could feel the dungeon moving and twisting itself into shape. His day had just got a lot better.

This is certainly not just a criticism of this fic, Bob. It's a problem with a number of fanfics I've read that try to put forward the story of the dungeon's rebirth... there's not much explanation for why it went away in the first place, or for why it came back. It feels a teeny bit lazy when the overall gist seems to be, "Well it just was, live with it."
I hope you'll try to offer some explanations for it at some point in the story.
-
I can see HStorm's point, I have to say. I do like the fic so far, on the whole. I'm not 100% sure about the characterisation of Treguard, but I guess we just see him a bit differently, or would focus on exploring his character in different ways. It'll be good to read more, anyway.
-
Yeah, I don't want you to think I'm knocking what you HAVE written, Bob, it's bubbling along okay for the moment, I'm just saying that there's a pretty serious ommission.
It's a bit like if you've been living with someone for years and they suddenly walk out on you without the slightest explanation (which is essentially what happened to all of us when KM was axed). Ten years later they suddenly show up on the doorstep demanding you let them move back in with you...
"But... why did you leave?"
"I just did."
"What happened to you?"
"This and that."
"Where have you been all this time?"
"Here and there."
"What have you been doing?"
"Oh y'know."
On that kind of basis, you wouldn't let them move back in with you, would you?

On the same basis, if I was Treguard (or speaking just as a reader) I'd like some explanation for why the dungeon just vanished into limbo for ten years before I can accept a story that brings it back. I feel cheated otherwise.

I hope no-one minds if I blow my own trumpet on someone else's bandstand...
There is a new KM fanfic. I have just posted the complete version of my latest story, 'I, Julius', at http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=1709231. Hopefully, it adds to KM in a way that anyone who chooses to read it will enjoy.

(Atmosfear... the game you accused me of plagiarising on your site? ;D Sounds like fun.)
There's no rush to give feedback at all.
The story is set in Series 5 of KM, and features many characters who have been seen before; and many who have merely been talked about...

I'm throwing an Atmosfear party tonight (yes, that damned board game again!) for my brother's birthday, so I won't be able to read it till tomorrow. I'll give you some feedback tomorrow afternoon though, word of honour!
