Oh hang on, there's that guard who was quite amusing as well, even if he only ever made two appearances:

    GIBBETT!!!!

Just thinking on it, it would have been cool to have seen Mogdred just once, as a taste of things to come. I'd guess since he got mentions from Merlin that he would have appeared if teams had got far enough. Perhaps he could have been involved in finishing off the final team. The plain Jericho 6 ending always struck me as a little bland.

I feel that if the final team had taken the horn, they would have blown down the wall, gone on to encounter Mogdred, cast the SHIELD spell against him and then go on to win their quest  🙂

Yep. Just not enough time They'd've probably needed about a good 5 or 6 minutes more.

So somewhat a bit like Series 4 Team 8  😉

Do you think that series 1 and series 2 started off as quite hard and ruthless and then got easier (presumably so they'd get a winning team after a while)? It went from "what precisely is her cat?" to "a friend in need". Series 3 is the first instance of a consistently hard series (although the infamous beetle question might have been an attempt to get a winning team).

I think Series 2 got easy for a bit, no disrespect to Team 4 but I think they breezed through Level 3 without the need of clue objects!

Yesterday I saw series 1 for the first time since it originally aired and I watched the whole thing back to back. I've had it taped whilst at Uni, I went home for the weekend I didn't watch any series 2 cos that'd spoil it and I get home on Friday.

Anyway seeing the original series really made me think. I don't think that Lillith is particularly evil anymore though I still haven't ruled out the idea of her being the Lillith of legend.

The wall monsters were a little dissapointing because they looked so alike. They had good riddles though.

I liked Merlin's chamber espedially with the listening key.

I also thought that the crumbling corridor of the catacomb was good.

The old corridor of spears is alright as well.

All in all series 1 is quite good and creepier than series 3 by far. I do think though that much of it moved a bit too slowley and its also interesting that sidestepping was never used.

I find S3 far creepier, especially when you can see characters in the far distance in the Vale of Vanburn....Never did like that, and sometimes you never found out what the creates and characters were.

Was the vale of vanburn that long, open valley with the yellow path that team 1 died on when they fell into the green swamp.

I loved that chamber/area. (* i suppose it's not classed as a chamber because it was an open area*)

                        What's a 'vale'?

                        what/who is vanburn?

Yes that is the Vale of Vanburn. Later in S3 you see odd creaures far in the distance...Not nice.

The Vale is the actual place itself, bit like a chasm..I'll attempt to find the definition. Vanburn, to the best of my knowledge, is simply a made up name, I cannot say I have come across it anywhere else than on KM, and they don't explain what the significance of the word is there, either.

Treguard said that the dungeon was allied with strange lands, so maybe it was part of the Elf realm. Is this called Elvandis?

It was never refered to as 'Elvandis' in Knightmare, if that is what you mean.

It does appear to be an elvern place, considering Velda was often found in the area. There again, it seemed many things lived there looking at some of the creatures and characters in the distance, am fairly sure Mellisandre was one of them.

Does that explain the quicksand caverns in series three?

I find series 3 creepier. I can't watch series 2 so I can't have an opinion of it, but in reference to what Kieran said about The Vale of Vanburn and distant characters, goblins approaching used to scare me more. In respect to series 1 being scary, I didn't really find it scary. But then again I didn't watch it the first time around so I wouldn't know.

I did find the catacomebite in S1 to be rather scary, that was back in 1987, and still believe it was quite nasty creature!

Yes well KM used to scare me quite a lot back in the old days of CITV, but I can remember being far more sacared of Olgarth and Granitas (Grannet arse) than Golgarach and Brangwen.

I just thought it was kind of darker and although as a KM fan I knew more or less what would happen and what rooms would come up there was still some tension for example when some dungeoneres came so close to dying of starvation before they got the food.

Also the haunting music on the death sequence and in the first room of level 3 was quite creepy, I never said scary. Thinking back to the old days I can't remember just how scared I was of series 1, but seem to think that 2 and 3 scared me a bit.

I'll find out when I get back home and start watching series 2 how it compares to 1 and 3.

Dragging this back to life (sorry but it's been a while since I've watched any seasons enough to comment!) to admit that I spent most of Series 1 wondering just how the hell Lilith got a pillow to her chamber?

And what the heck did Treguard do to annoy her so badly?

Anyone got any hints for me or know of anything blatent I missed?

There is a fanfic in which Lillith is the Gruagach's consort, a suggestion I like very much, since the gamebooks do suggest she is the Lillith of mythology who ran off with a demon after leaving Adam.

In which case, Treguard killing the Gruagach and taking over his dungeon probably wouldn't go down too well with his missus.
