Have you heard of Ico on the PS2?

Two years ago, a game called Ico was released for the PlayStation 2. Despite being under-publicised and poor sales, the game was critically acclaimed and is now seen by many as the greatest PlayStation 2 game ever.
What's particularly interesting is that the game seems to have been inspired by Knightmare. You guide a small boy around castle, solving puzzles — the boy is even wearing a helmet that looks exactly like the Helmet of Justice!
There's also rumoured to be a "Knightmare mode" that you get when you've completed the game, although I can't confirm this.
If you happen to own a PS2, and you like Knightmare, then you HAVE to own this game!

Having both played and completed 'Ico' (now VERY hard to find), I'm sorry to dissapoint you but there is not a 'KM' mode to the game at all.
The only hidden extras that I could find are: a sub-quest which rewards you with a 'mace' weapon, Various video filters which make the game look like an old Sepia film reel and a 2 player mode which has Pl1 play as Ico himself and Pl2 playing as Yorda. Info on how to get these features are easily available at gamefaqs.com
NO Knightmare mini-games of any kind, I'm afraid...

I do see yer point about the stylistic similarities between ICO and KM though. The later levels in particular when your running around in the machinery areas under the castle reminded me a lot of the 'Mills of Doom'.
The fact that you play as a 12 year old with horns growing out of his head is simply the icing on the cake...

Have played it. Enjoyed playing it and now trying to get my own copy of it.
The style does fit in nicely with KM but I found the lack of other characters a bit of a down point, I like to interact.
Was playing the dire Dragon's Lair 3D on the Gamecube today. There is a room early on which has sections of the floor fall away, struck me as very Knightmareish.

Mmm... This game is superb. Apparantly originally it was going to have more plotty bits in but they used a subtractive developement method and removed anything that didn't enhance the emotiveness on the game.
Anyway, the thing that really strikes me about the game is that the graphics are the best anyone's ever seen on the ps2, and is clearly competing with x-box titles in terms of graphical quality. However... It's a 2002 ps2 game, the ps2 being a weakling in terms of hardware if you compare it to either the x-box or the gamecube.
There is no knightmare mode, to my knowledge, however, completing the game once unwields a co-op mode, where player two controls Yorda. Which leads to entertaining, if stupid, results when saving if your friends are anything like mine (you go to sit down, she stands up. You stand up, she sits down. Repeat until you both get tired of it). Also, replaying the game allows you to obtain the lightsaber instead of the mace in the mini-quest bit (which isn't so much a quest, it's more 'basketball')
And GrandDizzy, sadly it's not a helmet. The boy's head's bandaged and the horns are his own. Which is the reason he's in the situation he's in, actually.

I've never played Ico, but the videos of it online are evocative. If the game is a must for KMers with PS2s, it would be good to think that Ico devotees are KM fans waiting to happen.
Not long after this topic expired, hopes were raised elsewhere of Knightmare/Ico crossover fanart. I wonder if it was completed and is out there somewhere.
