This person contacted me a few days ago saying that he had purchased this trophy from a car boot sale in Northern Ireland from someone who originally bought it from a sale in England.

I assumed that the person had bought a FrightKnight as used in Series 5/6 series and I have him information on the use of FrightKnights on the show.

Looking at the picture on the auction it does appear to be different to the ones awarded to the dungeoneers, but it could have been a prototype or had some other use.

I have ask him to remove my e-mail and have clarified that I do not represent an official source of info and cannot guarantee its authenticity. But it looks quite genuine to me....

I emailed Tim Child regarding this and this was his reply...

Its not genuine unless its been repaired?

The sword is a form of scimitar and all of ours were made with broadswords.

So sorry erol but I fear you may have just wasted £300.

It seems Tim Child pretty much explains it is a fake in his reply to Brollachan.

E-Bay is not a safe place to buy Knightmare items be it DVDs or things like this.

Tim Child posts here with user name beveryafraid, send a personal message to him. Now he knows what is going on I expect that he ismonitoring this thread.

Have you paid for this and recieved it yet? I hope you haven't wasted a lot of money on a fake - or at least something not in it's truely original form.

There can't be many of these Frightnights about - weren't they only given one per team to the Series 5 and 6 winners?

I wonder if Tim knows how many were made in total?

no i can get the money back, thats not the problem, its whether its real or fake? Ill ask him, many thanks. Its very strange because the sword seems to be the only problem with it?

                      regards,

It is very strange, maybe the sword was repaired; i hope its a rare prototype; im excited yet disappointed aswell. I need a 3rd opinoin from a professional. Fingers crossed, otherwise i can get my money back. Thanks everybody, if anyone knows more, keep me posted,

                        regards,

This is the information just passed to me by the seller:

                          Hi Erol....

Ok...I am just off the phone with Ron Lyon the creator of the Frightknight. (Tel:01962 882348)...he has confirmed that this is one of his Frightknights...he says he took a number of them up to Norwich with him where the show was produced - these had different weapons, broadswords, axes and scimitars - some were left handed and some right handed....

He did make one specific model that moved and could be made to look as though it could fly -but this was for use in the production of the actual programme (this one had a broadsword).....and is maybe what Tim Child is referring to..

Anyway, I can find no better or other expert...and I now, more than ever, fully stand by my description of the sculpture...I feel I gave all the information I had and was very open with the concerns some people had....This is a Frightknight...

                          PS

Have you had a look at this link from the Knightmare site?

                          http://www.knightmare.com/club/1-2/p6.htm

                          I hope this helps...

So, i believe that this is now a frightknight? Everyone agreed on that?

                          regards,

                          erol muhammed

                            Erol,

                            Firstly welcome to the forum.

From the info from Ron Lyon above it looks like you have bought a prototype Frightknight. It certainly isn't the same as the model that was actually used on Knightmare, but that isn't to say it's not genuine. I would be very suprised if it was a fake, and there has never been any known cases of this.

The only person who will be able to confirm its authenticity is Ron Lyon himself. Perhaps you could contact Ron and e-mail/send him the picture.

The sword doesn't look right either! Who'd be that so twisted!

Hi there, i acquired a few months back a frightknight from an ebay seller who assures me the item is genuine and has given me Ron Lyon's telephone number as proof of his word. However i have hit hard times with the cash and need to sell the item. It is based on the frightknights seen on Knightmare, but with a subtle difference and that is the positioning of the head, the sword is a scimitar sword and is in the left hand of the frightknight. It has Ron Lyons name on the bottom and is a wonderful item to behold. If anybody is interested please reply to me on here. I have a pic of the item and if you need to consult Ron Lyon then I can provide the number to you also. If you live in London, then i can allow you to inspect the item before purchase. Please reply; the more offers the merrier,

                                regards,

                                Erol

Hello there, I am currently selling a Knightmare related frightknight on ebay. However i need some help contacting Ron Lyon for confirmation of its authenticity; although it has a label with his name and address on the bottom i need to know more about it. If someone knows some way of contacting Ron Lyon please let me know. Failing this if anyone knows somewhere where I can get this frightknight checked out in London, id fully appreciate it,

Please have a look at the item, which is meant to have been made by Ron Lyon; and if you are interested in the item please bid on it, my ebay id is bahistoryerol. It is an item i acquired off ebay a number of years back, which is of a frightknight but with a few differences to the KNIGHTMARE version. It has scimitar sword which is in the left hand rather than the right. It is excellently crafted and has Ron Lyon's name and address on the bottom. I spoke to the man himself (I DID, HONESTLY I SWEAR ON MY LIFE!) He said to me the item is genuine, no one can sculpt such a figure as good! It is made of steel and is superb. Im not looking for thousands of pounds, three hundred pounds or just short of that would suffice. If you would like to see some pictures or learn a bit more or would like to make me an offer please contact me on muzwiz@ntlworld.com.

                                        regards,
