Re:Knightmare VR music
-
It sounds more like a rather bad pop song or something people would dance to. It doesn't sound very dungeon like in my opinion.
-
Those who frequent LiveJournal and KM Chat will be aware of my opinions of the theme tune.
It honestly does sound like someone's having a joke at our expense. It's something that sounds like it's from an episode of Top of the Pops, circa 1969. The original themes told viewers to expect something scary and mystical...this gives the impression of a comedy.
As for "Knightmare, it's a Knightmare", no comment. A show such as Knightmare should NOT, I repeat, NOT have lyrics!
-
I think you could possibly get away with using that tune if it was lowered an octave or two and slowed down. Atleast I think it would sound better.
edit as just relistened to it
Prehaps not but I still think if lowered an octave or two it would sound more 'darker' and 'dungeon' like. It's those high whistling sounds that really don't sound right.

THWACK!
Did you hear that? That was the sound of a nail being hit firmly on the head by a huge hammer wielded by BillyH.
I cannot believe I have just allowed my ears to be raped by that spineless tripe.
Seriously, if they want a proper "new" theme tune, there's a handful of bands in Finland that will do the job properly.
In fact, I'm going to nominate Ensiferum who have already done it! It's called "Warrior's Quest", from the Dragonheads EP, and every time I hear it it makes me think how well the opening credits for Knightmare would work as its official video...
All they'd need to do is make an instrumental version about 40-odd seconds, and... bingo!
-
I'm guessing this doesn't exist anymore? I'd like to hear it
-
That was great! If this was set up with a good intro (i.e. clips of some of the quests if the show ever did go to plan) then this would be perfect. For some reason, I can imagine Lord Fear just throwing a fireball at us if an intro like that existed

Why thank you, you're too kind

Aaaaaaaaaaarghh!! takes deep breath Aaaaaaaaaaarghh!! MY EARS. PLEASE RELEASE ME FROM THIS ABOMINATION!! Honestly the whole VR segment took all the best elements of knightmare out of the game. Even the kids involved hardly did anything of interest and since WHEN did we get music in tunnels???? No. Just. No. OK rant over. Have a good Friday peeps!!

The dwarf tunnels from series 6 and 7 often had the classic incidental music accompanying them (as a S6 fan, you should know that!) - just not the irritating comedy organ MIDI that KMVR appears to use!

Yeah the music in the dwarf tunnels in KMVR was naff!! KMVR in all was naff!!
The music overall in KMVR just sounded tacky and cheap.

Ah yes sorry Pooka of course I remember I was thinking more it was atmosphere noise in 6 n 7 not music as such, certainly not the same as the theme tune anyways but thanks for straightening that one.

I'm not sure that's entirely fair to Claire. When incidental music does its job, we don't notice it's there (or we do notice but we welcome it). Much of Knightmare's incidental music was subtle enough that a watcher might only register it as ambient sound (atmosphere noise as Claire says), e.g. in the dwarf tunnels in Series 3.
Claire, you don't owe Pooka an apology.

Thanks Drassil. I didn't take offence at what Pooka said I guess "music" meant something different to me. I was a little over the top in my original post but had just watched the VR clip recently and I felt it was such a let down compared to the show we all know and love. I think the music struck me as wrong because it was the theme tune, just repeated in every tunnel and perhaps I went a bit overboard on that one. Many thanks for your reply.
