Knightmare Possibly coming back to Challenge
-
have we all voted then? that will at least help there's only 76 votes so far so i suspect not

The thing is, Challenge is now showing Fort Boyard again, so does that mean Knightmare is also likely to get a repeat soon?
-
Hmm...could be
-
Did they start showing Fort Boyard after that poll, or was it on already? (The poll says "original Fort Boyard" so perhaps they're showing the UK version and thinking of getting the French one?)
In any case, it doesn't tell us anything about the rights negotiations for Knightmare. But they were already trying to get it before they posted the poll, and they tweeted a week ago that they're still looking into it, so fingers crossed!
Someone should tell them to ask about TimeBusters and/or Cyberzone while they're at it.

Another frustratingly vague yet nonetheless encouraging update:
-
It's looking increasingly likely that KM will make a triumphant return, but like Dark Comet said negotiations are difficult. To acquire rights you need to please a whole load of people, in KM's case ITV, David Rowe, English Heritage plus a few others. I doubt it'll make it to screens in time for the anniversary but better late than never.

We get Challenge TV, but they change the programmes so often it's sometimes hard to watch anything. They used to have Strike It Lucky on a few weeks ago, then took it off. One of my favourite retro shows. Never watched Fort Boyard when it was on, and don't want it featured now, when better shows could be in it's place, I always thought it was 'The Crystal Maze at Sea'.
Haven't seen Knightmare on any TV for years now, they just won't bring it back, I don't even remember it on Challenge, must of been before we got the channel. I would really like to see re runs of this show again, I don't care if it is Challenge, although it sounds best suited for it.
Really missed the show when it ended in the early 1990s but you knew it couldn't go on forever. I do hope we can get this back on satellite channels sometime soon.

I'd be sceptical of what the Mirror article said. See our discussion of the article here.
Meanwhile, this latest tweet from Challenge suggests that we might not have to wait much longer to learn Knightmare's fate.
-
Yeah, I saw that.
I don't doubt that they are trying to get Knightmare - it's been so highly requested. However, what I do question is whether they have the means to purchase it again.

If Tim Child doesn't want it to be shown anymore it would be nice for him to come out and say it.
Ah, but nobody's suggesting that he doesn't want it to be shown. The article linked to was saying that he was dropping hints about something new he was working on, when in fact, he dropped those hints years earlier, and retired in between times when Intermedialab went out of business.
That doesn't reflect in any way on whether he wants Knightmare to be shown. And indeed he has no control over that as he doesn't own the rights to the eight series that were made; those apparently belong to ITN these days, for some reason.
As for the Daily Mirror, in my experience it's like most other British tabloids; long on opinion, longer still on sensation-seeking, and short on fact-checking. If you have happier experiences with it, I'm pleased for you.
