New Knightmare: confirmation and reactions
-
I was expecting a much longer wait to find out what this was - really looking forward to seeing it!
That photo seems to show a CGI version of the room of many doors. Hopefully other classic rooms will make an appearance (along with some new ones of course). However, that spider screams uncanny valley to me!
Let's hope it's good, has loads of views and perhaps it won't actually be a one-off...
-
Yeah I'm pretty amazed by the photo. As soon as I heard this was a one-off I kind of said "boo" in my head, but something is better than nothing! And yeah, maybe there could be more, but we shall have to wait and see
-

The picture of Treguard, is that circa Series 8?
I can't see KM returning to TV but surely if this one-off revival is a success, in this online format, then maybe, just maybe, the powers that be could justify running with it, hopefully in the not too distant future, whilst stock is high at least. I suppose it comes down to the profitability of this concept though also.

I've been posting on this forum (and previous incarnations) on and off since the year 2000.
This is the best year in Knightmare's history since the show finished in 1994. No question. 2004 was perhaps the previous holder with the last Challenge repeats, KMVR pilot, Dick & Dom etc, but if 2013 hadn't trounced it already then it truly did so today. Absolutely unbelievable, absolutely brilliant.
Can't wait

Absolutely. The fact that we will actually see the original Treguard and the original Lord Fear do battle again in 2013 is immense. Whether it’s on TV or on YouTube makes no odds in the grand scheme of things. I will certainly be watching it through HDMI on my telly anyway!
I am curious to see what/who will return and what new technology will be showcased.
I am also wondering if the production budget for this will match that of previous episodes, I hope so.

I was sure I had missed the fandom's heyday when I discovered the community 3 years ago. How wrong was I!
Surely I'm going to wake up at any moment - this is the kind of thing that only ever happens in my dreams before cruel reality dawns. I believed Tim and Hugo when they said they would never do Knightmare again... I thought Mark would never come back from the US to play Lord Fear in person... I assumed from KMVR that Cliff Barry was done playing Lissard... how can we possibly be this lucky?!

The Knightmare Facebook page has confirmed that Hugo Myatt will return.
...Must...go....to Norwich studio...I always wanted to see this as a kid but or go on it but I lived in Essex at the time and only moved up here 11 years ago & a few years after that I went past Anglia studios and they closed down, I also want to show Hugo that picture I did (long as he doesn't mind & Knight when I get that picture done) like with rd this feels like a once in a lifetime chance, but I bet and understand the whole filming's behind closed doors, outside or rd.
I haven't been this excited for a long time,as it is when I get a lot better at animation I always wanted to show My work to anglia studio or the others near it (don't have the qualifications which doesn't help, but have the passion for it and currently working on another animation project (unpaid) for a record label in Cromer).
Edit: Sorry guys just realised when I looked at the top of the page reg Hugos return, I didn't look up at the tie, viewed recent posts and the only saw the latest one, sorry about that.

I still can't believe this is happening and I'm only around the corner.
-
Guys I told spoonyone about this as he's a pretty big fan of km as well, hope I get an answer, if spoonyone sees this he has a massive fanbase & that could help get even more viewers & give this revival an even bigger chance to become a full fledged series, it's a shame that I'm not sure if Doug Walker ( nostalgia critic ) is a fan too as that would help even more.
Here's hoping yahoo mentions this soon, it's been mentioned on escapist site.
-
HOLY COW IF WE GET DOUG WALKER WATCHING KNIGHTMARE...on second thoughts, I haven't seen a positive review from him for a while now so...

How about phelous?.
-
Haven't watched that one yet XD
But come to think of it, Doug normally seems to love really old game shows, so maybe if he (hopefully) sees KM one day, he'll give it a good review
-
I just pm'd Doug Walker (Nostalgia critic and owner of thatguywiththeglasses site) on the km revival and asked if he might do a review of this if he's seen it before or gets interested after I sent him those clips of it and said what the show was about, if he knows about it then km has a much bigger chance of getting even more views through him alone, nothing from spoonyone yet but I hope I get a reply soon from either of them, worth a try.

squeal Let's hope he's interested!

To quote a certain Barry Thorne: blimey.
First, well done to all the Knightmare fans who have kept the faith and trusted that this time would come. Although my conviction has wavered over the years, I'm pleased I have this post to look back on. In my own little ways, I have tried to keep the fire burning, as have others here. If it's helped, so much the better.
By the way, the Knightmare.com article and tweet referred to Knighmare. Leaving out the t is a dangerous precedent: if you're not careful, you'll have Dungeon advenurers wandering around in search of a shor cu o Level Hree.
"I know but I can't say anything" - what a cruel thing to post!
It is actually!
It depends on how it's said. It terms of tone, there's a fine line between "More will be revealed, but not yet" (which is how I read Alan's posts) and "I know something you don't knooow". The latter can come across as less than community spirited.

The picture of Treguard, is that circa Series 8?
The press release photo, or at least the Hugo Myatt part of it: I wonder if it was taken around the same time as Hugo reprised Treguard for Dick & Dom in Da Bungalow in 2004? The hairstyle and costume are consistent.
I'm impressed by the logistics that have gone into Series 9 Episode 1(dare I call it that?). Simply to find mutually convenient dates, they would have had consider each of the actors' availabilities (Mark Knight living abroad, Cliff Barry with an imminent Edinburgh show), the Knightmare Live Helmet of Justice's availability, studio hire and goodness knows what other factors. That is an achievement, whatever the end result.
And just for the record, however YouTube chooses to bracket Knightmare, I don't see it as only for geeks. It was widely watched mainstream kids' TV with adult appeal, and if its audience seems more specialised these days, arguably it's only because the average adult's life is more complicated than that of a child at Friday teatime. I suppose I am uncertain of the term geek and whether or not it's pejorative. I'm not the only person with concerns along these lines.
I am loving that Mark Knight is loving this!
It brings to mind the memorable phrase he used in an old interview with regard to playing Lord Fear again.
Mark Knight's now been credited (on digitalspy and elsewhere) with leaking a photo from the set, even though he was only passing one on that had already been tweeted. Quite ironic because, as I understood it from Pickle, the Opposition isn't exactly famous for retweeting.
The pessimist in me is thinking: it could all be over by late September. Knightmare Live finished, Knightmare repeats off Challenge, Knightmare Series 9 Episode 1 buried among the social media ephemera. The optimist in me hopes that if we've come this far, enough momentum can be built up for great Knightmare things to continue happening. There's still one big piece of the quest object to be redeemed, and it's the piece with the letters 'DVD' carved on it. Let's see what happens.
-
I really am excited about this! I really hope that the picture might suggest a return of ARIE aDNIE as she was one of my favourite rooms ever!
very excited! good summer is on a roll

By my calculations the Challenge repeats should last until mid-October, and I expect they'll show the whole lot again soon afterwards, perhaps in a different timeslot where other viewers might discover it. And hopefully Knightmare Live will tour the country!

I, too, have been thinking that if a DVD release is ever going to happen, now would be a good time...
