5 characters you'd like to see return
-
Haha, if only they shortened that clip by about 2 seconds we would have been none the wiser
Lol indeedy! To be honest I hadn't known about it for years as a lot of my VHS copies had the intros and credits chopped off! I blame that Battersby fellow as most of the tapes were copies off his dodgy batch from the Trading Post!! Do you know, I am still waiting for a replacement for tape 2 of series 8?! Shocking!!
I never noticed it until someone pointed it out on the choob of ewe, so I had to watch it again

My top character (or rather threat) has returned- Arieadnie!!! I was very pleased to see her!!I think she would be a great threat to any new Knightmare!!
I would really like to see Morghana return! Scary woman!!!

In addition to Treguard, Lord Fear and Lissard, I’d bring the following five back:
-
Pickle – I know helpers are a bit controversial with some but I had no issue at all with Tregard having helpers. I quickly grew to like him and thought he did add nicely to the dynamic of the show.
-
Motley – I was a big fan of his and much preferred him over Folly who to be honest I found rather irritating.
-
Sylvester Hands – One ‘baddie’ who you could feel had a good side in him and one you could get around (if you had the right objects or ‘gift of the gab’) to continue. A really likeable character. Probably my second favourite ‘baddie’ to Lord Fear, actually.
-
Hordress - As a child I saw him as a large, bold and incredibly powerful character when he wanted to be.
-
Sidress – I always had a soft spot for her and probably one of the kindest and softest character that the game seen. I always got a sense of relative safety (ish!) when a dungeoneer come to a room with her in.
If I could bring back another it would have to be Lilith. She just misses out on my own ‘top five’. Indeed, very much a character who could be both reasonably kind to being downright devious and nasty to a dungeoneer. On a similar note, Queen Greystagg would be someone else who’d I’d be very happy to see return if we could have more than five. She’d be battling Lilith for a sixth spot in my list!
Good old Smirkenorff would be another one on the ‘close / also ran’ list if we could have more.

YES, the dungeons need Smirky...it simply wouldn't be the same without having his infamous dragons sense of humor and wit around, not at all!
-
-
Sylvester Hands - 2nd best character after Lord Fear
-
Motley - Best jester in Knightmare
-
Hordriss - Knightmare wouldn't be the same without him!
-
Sidress - Couldn't leave out Hordriss' daughter!
-
Mildread - Best witch in Knightmare
Id argue Folly and Grimwold were the best jester and witch. (although im not sure Grimwold was a witch was she? Motley didn't bother to paint his face and wasn't a real Jester, made worse that he was in the show for soooo long.

I just think that Motley was more entertaining and mote interactive with the dungeoneers. I think that reflects why he was in the show for the rest of the series. I did like Folly too but out of the jesters I'd pick Motley! I thought the same for Mildread too. Miss Grimworld wad good but I just think Mildread, especially when she impersonates the teams edges it for me.
-
Mildread was great and one evil witch.. nobody else tried to fool the teams like she did. Grimwold added more comic relief but wasn't much of a treat.
I don't have anything positive to say about Motley, thought he was really dull.
Nobody has mentioned Skarkill, he was a great Goblin master
-
Lissard was never seen in the dungeon was he?
He can be a bit irritating, but then Skarkill was a bit of a dunce at times.
I certainly didn't like his replacement Snapper Jack.
I can remember of Lord fear's Wall monster but after awhile he became irritating but it's hard to imaging Fear without his troops.
-
I liked Snapper Jack, I thought he was one of the highlights of series 8 and harked back to the earlier series with his riddles. Didn't like Raptor who took over from Skarkill, thought he was too wooden.
Snapper Jack and Skarkill just missed out on my top 5 characters that I would like to see return. 5 isn't enough!!
-
Would you say that Snapper Jack was a replacement for Skarkill? Jack seemed like a lone agent to me. I've always seen Raptor as Skarkill's replacement.
Might have been thinking of Raptor, but as neither Raptor or Skarkill were in series 8 I just assumed Jack replaced them.
-
Heh, sorry to keep correcting you, Wombstar, but Raptor was in series 8. He was the Goblin Master in season 7, then Master of the Miremen in season 8.

lol oh dear.
This it what happens when you watch someone once every ten years.
Challenger better show it all cause clearly mu memory is shot.
On a side note I hated that character.
Yes he wasn't the best character but Ridolfo who was played by the same actor Adrian Neil was good and deserved more than 1 series.
-
Oh there are many and I'm going to cheat a little including some actors who played more than one charater and counting both of those characters as one entry
-
Brother Mace: great at improvising and an all-round enjoyable character who could work in a lot of different situations. I think hs character was limited by always sitting behind a table. Would be fun to see him help a dungeoneer along a floor puzzle or face some other challenge together. Basically I think the actor was great and I would throw him into as many different situations as possible!
-
Pickle - but IN the dungeon. I think he'd work well as a character in the actual game play, plus he could wind Treguard up by cheating (much like he sometimes did in the antichamber by saying too much or sneaking food into the napsack).
-
Greystagg/Sidress - both great characters particularly the former. Characters who were "potential allies but ultimately unaligned" were almost a cliché in KM but this one pulled it off perfectly. You knew she'd help a dungeoneer but you also knew they'd have to tread VERY carefully with her. You could tell she really detested dungeoneers but only helped them because she detested Lord Fear that little bit more. As for Sidress, she wouldn't be my top choice for characters to bring back, but I did find her funny and since we're bringing the actress back we might as well have both characters.
-
Gundrada/Malice - in this instance I very much like both characters and would choose them both even if I was forced to put them in seperate entries. I think Samantha Perkins as Gundrada was one of the best in the series at improvising. She quickly built up a comfortable rapport with the dungeoneers and provided humour and a great deal of help to the team, while ultimately keeping her selfishness in the end ("I'm a bit bored of this now, I'm off!")
As for Malice, despite having a kick-ass name for a villain, she was deliciously malevolent. I loved that in some quests she was the Big Bad of level 3, and in others she could be found in level 1 handing out the eye shield. You never quite knew just what her motive was, but you were always sure she couldn't be trusted one bit. She was scary when she appeared all giant-faced and lightning-eyes, but she was even more unsettling when she was suspiciously trying to befriend them.
- I would say Ariadne, but I guess she's more of a monster than a character, so my 5th choice would have to be Skarkill. I think he's an underrated character. I love lissard and also Sylvester 'Ands (who doesn't?) but they both had comedy elements to their characters and while Skarkill did as well, he was much more serious. He really wanted to kill those dungeoneers. And since my other entries inluded a lot of comedy characters I had throw in someone who was a genuine threat and there are few scenes in Knightmare more menacing than the Dwarf Tunnel scene where you can hear Skarkill's voice hunting and taunting the dungeoneer... chilling!!
There are other characters who I LOVED in the original series but plumped not to include - for example Hordriss. Everyone loves Hordriss, he's awesome. But I think by the time we reached Series 8, he'd done all he could do. He'd been in every situation, and he'd gone from untrustworthy mage to pompus but kindly old grandfatherly type figure. He was great but I'm not sure what he'd contribute to new episodes that were original. I'd rather see someone new offer something... new! And I say that with no disrespect to Hordirss as a character or Clifford Norgate who played him.
