Hey TimeMaster welcome to the forum!

Tony from series 2 when he walked into a room and he was trapped. Mogdread then appeared. Along with the background music as Tony perished was scary!

Also from Series 7 when Nicola walks in a pitch black room, you heard loud footsteps. Then you hear Lord Fear laughing as Nicola perishes. That was a bit freaky!

The sound of the horn signalling the collapse of the dungeon in Series 3 still gives me the willies. It's probably the moment I remembered the most vividly ever since it terrified me as a 6-year-old!

The excellent tension music - though mostly because of the tension rather than anything actually frightening.

              Don't laugh!

The dreadnort (series 6). Sumayya's death (which I know is coming) still makes me twitch and look away from the second you hear the footsteps and know she hasn't got the word.

I'm with you! Along with the music and the dreadnort's voice it was scary stuff!

Team 6's death in season 3 on the very narrow cavern bridge. They didn't deserve to reach level 3, but it's scary while the axe-haunting is closing in on them, and then agonising watching them get so close to the exit from the chamber, and then fall off the side.

The first time you see the second life force! There's no announcement to show that it's been changed and the first time I saw that I had no idea what it was... and a skeleton in the corner of the screen was scary as hell!

Was that the one where he couldn't get past the catacomb bite and walked through the wrong door, only to be greeted by Moghdred saying "You've walked into one of my play pens, play a while, play FORVER!!!!!" (Maniacal laugh) The acting from the guy who played Moghdred was 10 out of 10!

The one for me was when the Oracle of Confusion first appeared. Watching that at 10:45pm the other week was pretty creepy even now

Indeed it is! Also completely agree with the acting from John Woodnutt (who played Mogdread as well as Merlin). Made the death so convincing and scary!

The "play forever" scene haunted my nightmares occasionally during the interim years, between seeing it on TV and seeing it on the internet. As did the "dark room" scenes.

But the simplest scares are often the best, and, as I've said before, my main memory was of the various "chasers" or "stalkers" - i.e the goblins, the trolls, the Automatum (sounding bigger than he looked was a neat idea) ... and Behemoth/Frightknight (whose name[s] I could never remember). His scene in 3x06 is in a way the "scariest" of all the stalker scenes, because of the way he suddenly looms up against the camera (sword held high, with a yell of triumph). Even Treguard seems spooked ("Flee, team...!")

The goblin and mire-men death scenes are pretty good too.

I thought that one of the scariest Goblin moments was Julie's death in Series 3. Just as you think that she is about to be guided to safety, a goblin steps out of the very door that she is about to go through!

Unfortunately the scariness of this is immediately undermined by the advisor's comments about offering the goblin a present !

An assasin does this in Giles' quest in series 4 too, it's pretty scary. Unfortunately you only see it for a split second as the camera cuts to the advisor's (pretty amusing) reaction.

Apologies for being late to this thread but I've only just spotted it!

For me, the biggest fear Knightmare kept on giving me was the Spyglass scenes. As a child, I was absolutely terrified of Lord Fear spotting you spying on him. Not just for him staring into the camera - but that 'red eye' thing he used to do. As a child, I used to watch Knightmare in our living room. Whenever a spyglass scene was played, I'd be around the back of the sofa ready for him to do his stare...

I swear on my life I'm not lying about this (I have a very good friend who will back me up on this claim) but I had a genuine fear of looking into a blank television set at night for years. I feared I'd look at the screen and I'd see Lord Fear's face with those red eyes scaring straight back at me, ready to 'get' me. I genuinely couldn't face a television set at night in fear of this. I had to look away or be under the covers.

If Mark Knight ever found out about this he'd probably laugh his head off...! (To a degree I'd like him to know, actually!) That's the big impression he left on me not only during the course of the show, but for several years after it! I'm 29 years old this week - and still to this day I think about this fear I had every once in a while! A fragment of it still survives...

I can't think of any other show which has left such a large impression on me and certainly not the best part of two decades after it finished. Full credit to Mr Knight! I offer my hand to him on that one...!

Also from Series 7 when Nicola walks in a pitch black room, you heard loud footsteps. Then you hear Lord Fear laughing as Nicola perishes. That was a bit freaky!

Oh yes...! I remember that vividly <shudder!>. That was a pretty 'dark' moment in more ways than one! The Goblin Horn was sounding all the time as well as the footsteps. From memory all the hairs on the back of my neck stood up at that moment...

For me, I always used to be quite unnerved at seeing Ariadne creep into the fore (particularly during series 4). Still sends shivers down my spine every time...

Yesss, I found that very scary too! Not to the extent of it developing into a fear of blank screens, but I love that it had that effect on you.

I'm not sure exactly where this is, but I think it's in Series 6 about halfway through.

There's a scene with the Dungeoneer in a dwarf tunnel which they're making their way through; as they do, you start to hear footsteps and the soft voice of Skarkill encouraging his goblins to root out the Dungeoneer - you can even hear it getting nearer.

It's not a genuine threat, but it is incredibly creepy... and it certainly ramps up the tension, as every time they turn a corner you're expecting there to be a goblin ready!

In series 6, when the Storm Geist crept up behind Sophia (team 6) in the level 2 dwarf tunnel. I know the advisors seemed startled by it too!

Also when the hobgoblin appeared in level 3 during Martin's quest in Series 3. You never expected it to come originally eh?
