Series 4 Episode 10

This was a bit unfair! I was confused by this, but then again Backgammon confuses me.
I didn't understand this at all. If I was the dungeoneer, I would've booked my place on the next bus before the quest had ended. Okay that's not true. I would've got somebody else to do it.
The Block And Tackle, huh! I love this room soooooo much. It has been more fatal than Motley's jokes, well almost!
This room always seemed to get panic going which I just loved. They were the best bits, where you're in your chair moving from side to side, shouting at the TV hoping the dugeoneer would do the smart thing! lol

well i think this team deserved to die they were rather were disorganised. their death was rather nasty "BLOCKED" but well magic would have saved them according to treguard but i think LUCK would have beeen a better word

I thought the sequence of animations including the giant lizard and through the first few locations in Level 2 was one of the better ones of this series. Some of the guiding on Level 2 was quite erratic, not least on the Block and Tackle. Not that I can talk! We weren't even told the name of the room until we watched the rest of the series when it was broadcast. I think the Merlin questions were too hard but I've said elsewhere that with hindsight the puzzles were uneven and sometimes plain unfair.

The Series 4 Team 5 advisors deserve credit for co-ordinating with the antechamber lighting.S4T5.jpg

Team 5 resumed by giving the ogre a necklace to distract him. (The stealth potion may have be usable here as well.) Then they easily evaded a giant reptile.
Crazy moment by the well, which was guarded by Fatilla. Firstly advisor Susanna turned Vicki around 360 degrees (?) then walked her away from the well. Scathing interruption from Treguard: "There's a wellway here team, and you need it!" Possibly the sternest tone of voice he has used to a team.
Good thinking to tell Fatilla (who clearly can't read) that Vicki's name was on his permit list.
Arrived in level 2 by the edge of a pit and nearly walked Vicki straight into it. They got panicked when Gundrada became threatening, but eventually talked her round. Notable that it was Gundrada who actually guided her out, not the advisors....
They encountered Mellisandre in the next room. Much insulting of Melly by Gundrada: "Some silly little dungeon-maid, all curls and no muscles." The team eventually decided to release Melly, so Gundrada left in a sulk. Melly then sloped off without really helping them (this seems to be her party-trick this series) altho presumably they would have been penalised if they had not shown compassion and released her.
Next-up was Merlin's room and he was talking in opposites. The questions were admittedly confusingly worded and they scored 0/3. Some people have said that the scene was unfair, but i disagree. The reality is that they clearly didn't know the answer to questions 1 & 3 anyway (even without the confusing opposites) so they would have only scored 1/3 at best, which surely wouldn't have earned them any magic.
Merlin told them (in opposites) they had earned a "SPRINT" spell and the team believed they had. The status bar on our screen showed otherwise. As they dithered over directing Vicki out of the room, they received another dry remark from Treguard: "Well aim for the exit team, it's at the back there!"
Into the block&tackle room and their directional instructions to Vicki descended into total chaos before she was finally obliterated by a huge stone block.
Whether Merlin's magic would have saved them is debatable.
Team 6 chose the quest for the crown and passed Dooris easily (3/3) before time-out arrived.

The Series IV Adventurer's Code referred to neutral characters, which it seems would include Melly and Gundrada (probably Mistress Goody, too) - noting that, at first, you wouldn't know who fitted into which category (the implication being, perhaps, that you might like quickly to find out or decide). Series V onwards looked like more of a clear-cut distinction between good and evil characters.

Much insulting of Melly by Gundrada: "Some silly little dungeon-maid, all curls and no muscles."
That may explain Mellisandre's apparent curiosity about Gundrada's muscles in this publicity photo:

In the days of the caption competition this one would have me submitting:
"I'm confused Gundrada, you said you were going to show me your slash and all I get to see is some lousy swordplay!"
