According to new research, anxiety creates brain activity that causes us to veer left. Further research may be needed to establish whether it causes us to advise others to veer left into gaping holes and such.

Thanks to Knightmare Live, there's more than one Lord Fear around these days. An article from The Times suggests they will benefit from Brexit in their continental misdeeds:

Brexit: European criminals will escape trial, lords fear

The MP Fiona Onasanya has been in the news this week, along with her younger brother Festus.

According to The Times today, Jess Phillips - who has been known to refer to Knightmare in tweets - 'will at least shake up the [Labour leadership] campaign by asking tough questions and injecting much needed vim.'

Not unlike Merlin in Series 3 then.

A mysterious headline from Australia's Newcastle Herald today:

Hard Yards, Chapter 30: Knightmare season ends Tinkler's reign of error

Knightmare's 30th team (Team 11, Series 3) did rather well, so it can't be about them. Maybe it's dissing an advisor from another team. If so, tinkler would be less "you're in a room", more "urine a room".

Less a reference, more a reminder:

There's been news today of police breaking up a rave in the Forest of Dean. The image of ravers fleeing in the forest made me think of Giles dashing from goblins in the Forest of Dunn in Series 4.

              *In the Forest of Dean

              The dancers convene

              And though they may rave

              They seldom behave*

Predating that was the following Times article from 2014:

Lords fear cheap fizz in Commons

It conjures an image of Mark Knight and Tom Bell mingling with MPs as they break out the bubbly.

                      From today's Evening Standard:

Don’t be an amber gambler with holidays, pleads Robert Jenrick

Desperate appeal amid chaos and new doubt over June 21 reopening

Although the phrase "amber gambler" has its origins in a c1977 public information film about traffic light safety, many of us first encountered it via a clue scroll in Series 6 Quest 2. It sounds like Robert Jenrick wouldn't want us to travel to Witch Haven then.

Article in The Times on 8 January:

Vikings were ‘too trendy’ for helmets with horns

Too trendy or not trendy enough?

The front page of The Times today (15/1/22) has a photograph of a face on a door. The door of 10 Downing Street is ajar and is reflecting a portrait of the Queen, to whom Number 10 recently apologised.

This reminded me of the Weeping Doors in Knightmare Series 4. Among their recurring phrases were "The bitter pill of self-delusion" and "Truth will out and so will you".

I'd never even heard of this before reading the article, but the Oxford word of the year is "goblin mode"!

(Series 5's Christopher: "Don't talk to me about goblin mode...")

Meanwhile, the Cambridge Dictionary Word of the Year is homer: seemingly because a large number of the UK's Wordle players don't remember Barry and his team's potion choices on Level 3 (or the first Lurleen Lumpkin episode of The Simpsons).

A weather forecast including the phrase "bringing wintriness to the lower levels" immediately brought to mind Aesandre in Series 5!

I opened an old Italian newspaper article with the headline "TRE GUARDIE PER LA DIETA DI PAVAROTTI?", and with another browser window in front of it, all I could see was "TRE GUARD PAVAROTTI?" which momentarily confused and then amused me!

This one is more "Reminds me of Temporal Discussion" than "Reminds me of Knightmare", but my brain immediately inserted "which is a silly name" in Martin H's voice while I was reading the second line of this article. (It wasn't quite sharp enough to go with "a silly sub name"!)

There's now an AI app called Pickle which simulates a person's appearance on video calls. FAQs on the website include 'Is Pickle free?', 'Which languages does Pickle support?' and 'How do I change my Pickle's outfit or background?'
