I'm sure there are better forums out there, but not all will work on the server we're using. But I think it works okay so we will only consider changing forum software again if we're kicked out of this one It is a bit slow yes but I think that's down to the server more than the software in this case.
Regarding the colour suggestion - will look into this when I've got some time.

Other than its speed, there's nothing wrong with this forum at all.

it would only be an experiment
besides ppl get set in their ways if no upheavel is brought
My old forum was basicly black as well and then they had a HUGE change and made it white (:o) with bluey posts. at first there were the whole "Ow my eyes complaints" but its turned out fine. i just thought that black and then a lighter shade for every other posts would break up the monotoney (god i need spelling lessons) of black

erm....goes to find dictionary
i couldn't find a dictionary but i found a thesaurus (yes i looked on the front cover for the spelling of that) and here is the word i meant plus it's entry just to prove how fitting the word was..
Monotony
boredom, colourlessness, dullness, flatness, humdrumness, monotonousness, prosaicness, repetitiousness, repetitiveness, routine, routineness, sameness, tediousness, tedium, tiresomeness, uneventfulness, uniformity, wearisomeness.

I think perhaps that's what I should've done to start with, but anyway I've just grabbed one of mine. It just says:
"Monotony n 1 The state of being monotonous 2 Dull or tedious routine."
Now I do understand that dictionary better than your theasaurus

I think that I walked right into that hole didn't I. I will try and put my brain in gear before my typing from now in. Another problem that I have is that I keep hitting the wrong keys (must trim my finger nails short) and I keep hitting the buttons that clear typing i.e. the Alt and Insert buttons. Oh and I should also have said that my punctuation is really bad!

i aint here to assess post brilliance just thought it might be mildly ammusing to add "faulty R" to your list of attributes
and i've had another thought forum groans as one
maybe custom ranks could be allowed to those with a 700+ or 1000+ post count? they needn't be self done either. they could be requested from Illusion and so therefore any unsuitable ranks simply wouldn#'t get through and since there aren't many with such a post count it wouldn't be excessive work? could be a sorta reward for loyal posters
good idea? yay nay?

You get a new rank for every 500 posts you make at this forum:
-
Knight is the highest rank for 500+ posts. There is no higher rank.
The forum does not allow any extra ranks, although it is possible to add another custom title in addition to the rank title.
I have thought about letting people who reach over 1000 posts to specify a custom title alongside their rank. The only problem I see is probably a few years down the line when loads of people reach 1000 posts leading to an admin knightmare

Yeah, good idea I think. Perhaps the first 15 people to reach 1000 posts will get a custom title but I hope that won't encourage people posting unnecessarily just to boost their post count.
