I'm 22 by now. Born in Nov 1980, and I remember very well watching the very first series of Knightmare when I was only 7-8 years old!
Oddly, I was never scared of the life force face/skull thing! I was scared of much less 'scary' things, like the noise when a dungeoneer moved between rooms (in the first series) and wall monsters like Golgarach (sp?). But now, being 22, nothing about Knightmare scares me any more!
Got our very first VCR in December 1988, and did tape Knightmare regularly - but due to lack of tapes (they were expensive back then!) we taped over each previous series when the tape became full

I know it seems like I probably have no idea about Knightmare, but I vaguely remember watching episodes my parents had taped.
A couple of months a go my friends and I began buying the book versions and working our way through them as a group.
Then one night I was searching on the net for Knightmare and I found out it was on Challenge!
There was then a long high happy squeal from myself until 6:00pm when I watched it for the first time in ages!!
I've started watching it from series 3, so I need to find series 1 and 2.

I started watching KM at the end of series 2 - I would only have been 4, and it must have had a real effect on me - I can't see many four year olds either being interested in something for longer than 5 mins, and definitely not discovering a regular schedule.
From then, missed one episode of S3 and one of S8 Â -not one other. I recorded little, and until recently have had to go off distant memories of what exactly went on - surprisingly - I have vivid memories of S3, but little of S4, when I was actually older.
I applied for the series 9 that never happened.. I would have been 11 then.

Not neccessarily Pickle! There is another way for even older forum members to go on the new series of KM!

By sweet talking bva into giving some of us charcter roles! How cool would it be to tell people that your a goblin off KM! You would make every one shake in their boots! (Ok so it may be the laughing type of shaking, but at least they are still shaking!)

Awww, I'd always quietly hoped I might get "Wootle". I think I'd just make my calling name obscenely long, difficult to say and remember, so I'd never get disturbed and by the time the kidsies had said it correctly three times their life force would have all gone. Muhahaha.

Thats wrong - it can't do that, thats changing what people are saying, like mis-quoting them or something. If someone says "ni99er" they should be reported and banned - but not have it replaced, what good does that do?

It makes it automatic. It thus saves Admins and Moderators a lot of work. Since it's done automatically, it also means there doesn't have to be a big debate and lynch mob arguing for people's exclusion or for posts to be altered every time it happens. On this forum with a majority of sensible people it seems a little draconian, I agree, but on many there is a definite need for such measures.
Oh, and it has given us something to talk about every time we find a new word it doesn't like, but can't tell the difference between that word and various legal similar words.
