Final team killed by blades?
-
i watched the last episode of series 4, and it seems that the last team had a let off in the corridor of blades... no?
they didnt move very quickly when one blade came towards them and we cut back to the guides briefly before return to see the blade just miss the dungeoneer?
was he saved so that they could fill the final 4 minutes?

I postulated much the same possibility on the thread I started earlier this afternoon. I think they were indeed let off somewhere.
-
Actually the blade i saw that I thought hit them came from the left side and that did touch them as far as im concerned.

I watched my tape of the Corridor of Blades scene in freeze-frame just now, and there's one point where a the edge of the blade clearly passes through Giles!

Then we cut away to the advisors.
I agree, they were probably let off because it was the end of the series, like that team which died on the serpent's tongue but were allowed to continue because the backup team hadn't arrived!
Edit: I wonder, if the dungeoneers actually stood up, would the high blades actually hit them? Judging by the height, I'd think not!

It could've been to the producer's advantage if they were killed off fairly then - then there would've been no complaints about not finishing the dungeon.

Which number blade is it? goes off to watch video in freeze-frame it's very difficult to tell because of the perspective, the camera view isn't right behind and on a vertical level with the dungeoneer so a blade will quite often obscure your view of him, but it hasn't actually hit him...

Sorry about the lines on the first one, it's because the original TV picture was interlaced and the capture card can only grab one frame. Looks to me like these two blades actually touched them - the second one for definite!
On the second pic you can also see the outline of the blue room which was used for the Corridor of Blades scenes!

Ooooh, well done indeed. It's the second one that I'm pretty sure hit him. Your screenshot is just as it passes him, I think. A few milliseconds earlier, I think he's even more in cutting range.

as I was watching it last night, I was fairly sure that he was given quite a leniance there - any lesser mortal woulda perished there and then.

And how he had the audacity to run right through the gap between me an' bobskull at the start of the hall of blades...PAH...he was lucky, is all I'll say about that.

the most tense corridor of blades i think in that series

I still think the perspective fools you (as in one, not you particularly!). All the other blade deaths I've seen have been much, much more clearcut (no pun intended) than this one, so there's no saying they wouldn't have 'let off' any team with so narrow an escape..
I think he's below it on the first one and further across than the angle indicates on the second. The tunnel's perspective is way off for the size of the corridor - the blades actually get further away from the dungeoneer as they come down the corridor.
