Series 3 - Episode 13
-
That was a classic demise. Miles better than the boring falling into a pit routine that claims so many dungeoneers.
On another point Merlin must have been conning them when he said it was possible to succeed without his spell. They had no chance.
Oh well off to watch KM now

Absolutely. Perhaps the production team just didn't want to downhearten them too much.
-
14 years on that death is still hillarious ;D!
-
I thought was bloody stupid and not very funny at all.
Well she had no chance in hell of getting out, the pice u pay for giveing wrong answers.
Also it had to be the worse death scean ever, the goblins didnt even do anything.. it was just stupid at least in later seasons they did something to kill the team than just stand there flapping their clubs around.
'Say hello the the goblins' that was the best bit.
-
'Say hello the the goblins' that was the best bit.
No,No,No,No,No. that was not the best bit, the best bit is clearly the whole line." Say Hello to the Goblins Julie, and Ask them if they would like a Present"
Now thats what you call a great line, HILARIOUS STUFF ;D
-
I've seen that - it's one of the clips on the site! I think the whole things funny too, from when Julie has to shout out "Who is it" to the goblins coming out of both doors and finally "Ooooooh...nasty!". It makes me laugh every time I see it - and I'll be able to see the whole thing on TV soon (yep - I've ordered that series on video)

Why didnt you record it off Challenge TV ::) or if you dont have Sky, why didnt you get someone to record it for you, luckly I have SKY,, and that episode was shown at the weekend, so now I can sit back and watch that hilarious moment and laugh my head off
-
The poor lasses never had a chance, goblins where comming from both doors. Which is a real shame because I really liked this team, they seemed to be on the ball with there directional skills. I would have thought Velda would have helped them more since julie saved her from them!
Donna
Run the goblins are comming!

-
Yes I was expecting a new thread on this topic.
I think that Merlin only said that 'teams have survived without my help' so that Julie's team didn't give up instantly. In actual fact, their's (and every other) quest really ended when they got one of Merlin's question wrong and they might as well have jumped down the huge pit in Merlin's room rather than continue.

Incidently, was that question that they got wrong 'fair'? I've certainly never heard of a bat being called a 'flying fox'.
-
Flying Foxes generally dive from tree to tree with the aid of their wings.
Erm anyway back to topic...Julies team always had me laughing, even when I first watched it in 1989, one of the girls tops, the red star one, always stuck in my mind.
I loved the death, it WAS actually quite scarey, with the music, the slow moving goblin etc....Nasty.
-
Yes, the music was a little bit of a hint. But the real problem was this:
Julie walks down the corridor.
"Um, you're in a corridor, there's doors on either side, people in the distance, symbols above the doors, I had cornflakes for breakfast, and I bought this top in the high street where I live. It was only £2.99, great deal, wouldn't you say, Julie? Julie? Whoops..."
If the advisor in question hadn't spent so much time describing the location, they might've gotten Julie out in time. However, there is the factor of the goblins bursting out of the right-hand door, and of course we know that the teams are told to choose the right-hand path unless otherwise advised. If they went against the guidelines and chose the left door, they probably wouldn't have died.
Then again, the crew would then be out for Julie's blood and would insert some sort of deadly unescapable trap into the next room, like a bomb room that ignites immediately.
-
Julie failed to obtain magic from Merlin, but gained a stone from Velda aftter untying her. They died because they didn't have the magic, but what was the stone for?
When I first saw the quest I thought that having the Elven stone would've given them a second chance, but no series 3 had no second chances.
The question then is what was the stone for?
