Yep, flying fox is just another name for the fruit bat.  I love it's furry, foxy little face - I think it's one of my favourite animals.  🙂

I automatically said squirrel too but i think people are getting confused with flying squirrels, which DO exist, (they have flaps of skin connecting the front to the back leg on either side of their body which they use to 'glide' from tree to tree, so perhaps they should've called them 'gliding squirrels' )

visit http://www.flying-squirrels.com for more info on flying squirrels, or

              http://www.animalnetwork.com/critters/profiles/flyingsquirrel/default.asp

for a picture of a squirrel 'in flight'

I really am going a bit overboard with this but I like to inform my fellow forum members, hehe

ANYWAY, If you think about it, a bat being a 'flying fox' is quite logical because foxes eat rubbish and stuff and kind of have the same scavenger behaviour patterns as bats, its just that bats have wings and stuff, so i think 'flying fox' a logical description.

And yes, I am David Attenborough in disguise....

OK, OK, so i'm not REALLY David Attenbourogh, and I don't really like flying squirrels that much, but it was getting close to Lunchtime and I was getting hungry so I just went a little crazy in a David Attenbourogh/flying squirrel lover kind of way.

hehe, sorry for freakin you out Snowwie!

                      xx xx

I can say for sure that a Flying Fox is a Fruit Bat, so called because of its uncanny similarity with the former, and I should know because I am a Professor of Winged Foxes. Hey they could be used in the new series.
