Pickle
-
Treguard spotted Pickle entertaining passers-by in the nearby Forest, and, sensing that with the new outdoor paths Series 4 would soon bring was too much for him to handle alone, enlisted his help with the dungeon.
Actually, I don't know, that's only a theory Unless it was recorded in one of the books (I only own a few) then I don't believe Pickle's origin story was ever recorded. Still, it remains an interesting topic to fanficcers!

Pickle seemed merely arrive in Knightmare castle at the beginning of Season 4, or to put more correctly, was very much at home at the beginnng of Season 4.
I have never read any text explianing exactly why, yet as mentioned, it is fanfictional as to what actually happens.

In one episode of series 4, he actually appears in the forest and helps the dungeoneer out.

There's Velda... she's a warrior elf and never says which realm she's from, so from her appearances and nature, and turf, I'd have guessed she's a cavern elf.
Treguard, however, claims she is a wood elf, so how she got to be the Dungeon is anyone's guess.
She stops Dungeoneers from entering the Elven realms, so maybe the exit they never took is a way out of the Dungeon...

well i wish pickle had neveer appeared majida was much more bubblier but her knowledge was limited

I think Treguard's comment in the first episode of Series 4 is that Pickle was there 'on sufferance'. Though this may say more about Treguard's attitude to the situation than Pickle's.
-
"And I think I can see who's going to do the suffering!"
Majida turns up very suddenly, but you certainly know why she's there; with Pickle they never do explain. I reckon that the win-free series 3 got those in charge worried that they'd made Knightmare too difficult, and so an extra helper was brought in. There should have been a better explanation for the sake of the story though.
Actually, in the end having Pickle there didn't make it any easier for the teams (apart from series 1 and 3, KM had an average of one winner per series, sometimes with an extra win right at the end), so it goes to show that the game never got too simple.

Pickle did help a lot. Even with the Corridor Of Blades, where success hinges on teamwork. And his knowledge of the expanded Series 4 Dungeon (e.g. Dunkley Wood) made the eyeshield footage (one of the most striking innovations of Series 4) seem more authentic.
