    wow 😮

someone knows LOTR well I mean, i know the particular verse and i might be able to get the whole passage (all the stuff about "7 for the dwarves in their halls of stone") after a little thought but knowing the language. DAMN thats a lot of learning. how you do it?

My knowledge of this poem in Black Speech is deceptive. I'm not really very good on LotR - in fact, I've only read The Fellowship of the Ring (though I've also heard the old Radio 4 dramatisation, with Ian Holm [Bilbo in the films] as Frodo and Michael Horden as Gandalf). I just happen to know that particular one. I know few other poems, and I'm far from one of these fanatics who speak half-fluent Elvish (not that there's anything wrong with that). I've met one or two, though - I've even met someone who knows the titles of each individual Nazgûl, as well as just about every poem and song.

In my defence, however, I have read the Silmarillion.

Actually, I told a little fib (but it's a useful tip): I didn't actually read it, I heard it on tape (but it was unabridged, so it doesn't count as cheating). It's easier to get through. In any case, although it's pretty heavy going at the start (well, all the way through, really), it does get better (it kicks off properly some way into the extremely long chapter on Beren and Luthien).

Methinks that frightening feat automatically qualifies you for therapy.

Well, over 250,000 hits now. What a wonderful, wonderful achievement. I think that everyone owes a great debt to this site - it might be the main tribute sight..  and hold monopolies on Knightmare traffic- but by hell does it deserve it. Not all sites of this nature, I'd imagine, are quite as detailed, effective and popular as this. I just forever hope it continues in the same expanding trends.

                  Regards, KaM

                    Well said!

A quarter of a million hits. Don't that sound nice?

Perhaps the best thing about this web site is that it serves as a base camp for all us fans enabling us to join forces - resulting in Challenge acquiring two series. Now we have the DVD petition as well as the BBK petition. Who knows what the future might bring?

Illusion, congratulations on this latest and even more marvellous numerical achievement. It's a resounding testament to... actually, I'm not going to wax lyrical, because I think knightmare.com, its counter and its greatness speak for themselves.

Had this been written now, you just know a Deal or No Deal joke would be involved somewhere!

Congratulations on the 500k, Illusion. Here's to the next 500,000...who knows how long that'll take, but I suppose it'll be due to how many times Channel 4 repeat the 100 Greatest Kids TV Shows!

Excellent thanks very much. That's a lot of hits.

I wonder what happens to the hit counter after 999,999 hits 😮
