For some reason I've never ever sucked my thumb but I used to bite my nails, which I stopped doing years ago. I keep biting the skin around my nails though. I am trying to remember how I stopped biting by nails so that I could stop biting the skin around them. Oh well at least when I am typing I am not biting that skin though .

about a month after I started uni I started sucking my thumb again. Bizarre. :-[
At the risk of getting all Freudian on you, it was probably just subconcious longing for the happy secure home-life of childhood. I'm sure a lot more people do it than are prepared to admit it.

I kept sucking my thumb for so long that I needed braces ::)

My sister ended up needing braces because she'd made herself bucktoothed by excessive thumb-sucking; but when I had braces it wasn't for that reason.
There is a member of my family who doesn't suck her thumb, but chews it, to the point of squeaking; I can't attempt to justify it...

Some kind of auto-cannibalism fetish?
I have a cousin who had the most horizontal teeth imaginable because of thumb-sucking, and she had the most elaborate mixture of braces for day to night use, but these days you'd never believe it. Pristine teeth from cheek to cheek. How does she do it?

My new years resalution........
To better myself.
By locking more people in the stocks I was down on the 2002 total.
