  • KNIGHTMARE RETURNS TO CITV

    News Discussion

    Hi

Just got in from work. Sat down and watched citv's 20th birthday celebrations. I thought it was really good. If it had one fault (other than not showing full episodes of faves such as knightmare) it was that they spent a bit too long on the links. not the bits where they were talking to old presenters - that was interesting (It was nice to see jeannes down, scally etc - but bits like the 2002 trivia quiz and reminding people to phone in with their top 2002 shows. It seemed a bit too focused on the modern presenters and not enough on the retro. Also I didn't like the way they just grabbed hold of anyone for the birthday messages - most of the celebs I thought were really unsuitable and therefore it was a bit patronizing for citv i.e. s club juniors are too young to have 'grown up' with citv, blazin' squad I would imagine wouldn't watch citv (think of street cred and all that).

Incidentally. I also picked up on how they said there was 'something for everyone in the 90's'. I would have thought that phrase would have gone better with the 80's shows which even adults admitted to watching for their own enjoyment. (Do you know any adults who enjoy coming home from work and settling into the latest 'repeat' of pokemon or hey arnold?).

And yes, Grotbags was really good.  The best bit though was probably Roland Rat confessing his embarresing moment to be saving 'TV-AM'.

Anyway, overall the show was really good.

    A few more things

    1. any more news on this itv2 theme night?

2.I know it's on the wrong thread but how did knightmare do in the cult pole on challenge (I don't have sky) and I'm too lazy to look!

    1. And something I've jut thought of. I'm really suprised there was no mention of Rainbow

    Knightmare VR

I was just about to post more or less what malefact just said, but he did it for me!

If this 'new' Knightmare had simply appeared as series 9 a year after series 8, we wouldn't have questioned it. Yes, some might have been disappointed, or excited or unsure or whatever but it would simply have been seen as the next progression.

All the new series needs is a few familiar faces (albeit in the new animated form). I wonder what actors / actresses would still be up for it? Once these have been secured AND the series has been comissioned it is as if it has never been away!

I went out and got my xmas tv guide today (out a day early too!) and there's a bit of news, if you can call it that.

On January 3rd there is definately CITV Birthday Bash, but it is at 9:25am and is on until 10:45am. So, not in the afternoon, but in the holiday morning slot.

So far I have "TV Times" and "What's on TV", "Radio Times" not out yet. Both of these magazines are produced by the same company hence the pretty similar listings description which says something like "Special birthday show featuring Matthew Kelly, grotbags, roland rat"

There are no links to special feature in either magazine and No mention of Knightmare.  This does not mean Knightmare won't be shown, but at least we now know the time slot for the show is 80 minutes. This is (obviously) definately long enough to show an ep of Knightmare, but is it likely that they would want to dedicate such a sized proportion of the show to a single program when they have 20 years to celebrate?

I shall keep an eye out for the RT et the others

  • Challenge TV to show Knightmare this Christmas

    Knightmare on Challenge?

"What's on TV" and "TV Times" Christmas Issues have not listed Knightmare specifically in the Challenge? listings. Instead it gives the times for the 'cult christmas section'. Not particularly interesting news, but I thought I'd give it a mention. I was rather looking forward to seeing Knightmare in print in listings guides again!

More 'listings' news in the knightmare on citv part of the forum.

And a point about the Knightmare repeat itself.... I know it's pretty obvious, but I hope they choose to put on a first in the series, and therefore introduce new viewers at a point where there have been many changes (from previous season) anyway, just as much of that stuff was new to us the first time we saw it.

I don't think series one, though. I think viewers should see it when it is a bit more developed.

Series 5 I would say, or series 3 if you think it's better in the earlier days.

One thing to bear in mind is that fri 3rd Jan falls out at the end of the 2 week xmas/new year schedule. Citv doesn't usually start broadcasting again (in its afternoon time slot) until the week after. Therefore anything they do on Jan 3rd would be put in specially and this could mean a longer/shorter slot for the special. Alternatively, they could dedicate an entire week to the celebrations (the following week) as they did with the 40 years of Childrens TV back in the mid nineties. - Maybe this is too much to hope for.

Also, thought of some more programs

    Funhouse

    Just Us

Wilderness Edge (Not a particular fave)

3,7,11 (not a particular fave either)

Press gang (first episode I saw turned out to be the last one they made)

    Allsorts

    Bad Influence

    Dreamstone.

The list could (and probably will) go on....

    Newbie Welcome

    Hi!

When 'KM' was produced I didn't have a PC so my friend is responsible for all computer technological things including the scans i should imagine.

And as for the magazine itself.... maybe a bit basic on the knightmare stuff, but as i think i put in the introduction (haven't checked the site in about 18 months), not many of my friends were really that interested in Knightmare (for some strange reason) and so I was imposing it upon them.

    Ah well!

Sorry to go off on this tangent and please tell me to get specifically back to knightmare if it is a problem (I think this was an issue before about 18 months ago), but whilst we're on the subject of 20 years of CITV, surely there are a couple of other classic gems which haven't yet been mentioned.

    Dogtanian

    Eye of the Storm

    Spatz

    Mike and Angelo (original series)

    Legend of Treasure Island

    Rainbow (of course)

Chish & Fips (or something like that)

T-bag (already mentioned but not really been discussed)

Virtually Impossible (made by the same ppl as Knightmare)

and probably loads others which my mind typically won't think of.

Also, does anyone remember the 40 years of Childrens TV they celebrated in 1995 (approx). Knightmare, T-bag, grotbags etc weren't featured in that upsettingly. But it did have a really annoying presenter - Malcom somebody and a family. mum, gossipy daughter, gran, son, and dad with his tele almanac thing. I've gone on long enough so I'll shut up and post now. Please post back.

    Newbie Welcome

    Hi Nic!

    Congrats on the new-look site.

I know u did it ages ago, but as I'm sure you're aware, I've not been on for over a year.

Anyway, it's looking good, although I haven't quite got the hang of this new forum yet.

Things are looking good in the Knightmare world at the moment.... repeats on digital (challenge), possibly on terestrial and DVD and even the possibility of a recommision (probably spelt wrong), albeit in a new format.

Anyway, I'm off to check out the rest of the site and refresh my memory!
