when a skull-haunting hit the player and they lost life force, did this have any real impact in future rooms and the life force? or was it just to make the game seem more exciting.

one thing that annoys me with knightmare when watching it now is the amount of times the camera cuts to the advisors at pivotal moments so we have no idea what the dungeoneer is doing. That I reckon might have been due to some moments of editing and/or retakes as a lot of time it happens near death scenes.

Personally I think enforcing copyright when there is no commercial legal version been sold anymore is petty, people here argue piracy will only lower the chance of proper dvd's been released but its a catch 22. Piracy of knightmare is thriving on the lack of a legal version.

If I see someone selling it on ebay I will turn a blind eye its as simple as that reporting it is very petty. If people are willing to pay £50 for one season then its the copyright holders fault for not taking advantage of that.

various occasions I agree with the team who were told time up in transportation room, the filming wasnt time limited only airtime so they could have edited afterwards to fit in air time.

The one I clearly remember is s6 team who didnt get the clue for causeway. Stupid. The price for not getting clue should have been simply having to guess the path but instead they were given a shorter lifeforce time to get the food and a quicker frightnight a deliberate death.

cant comment on dunstan yet havent watched it recently. when I say unfair I mean the manner in how she was killed.

If they deliberatly gave her a hard room and she failed it I would see that as fairer then ignoring food she picked up because thats what they did, she picked up the food and it was ignored.

I totally agree with you about Sofia, JamesA - it was the fact that she didn't have the scroll clue that set up her whole losing situation on the Great Causeway. If she had won her diploma, everything would have been different; more like Ben's situation, where he did have the scroll clue.

So in your view if a mistake is made earlier they should change the design of a room to force a death?

Because no matter how you look at it the facts remain, she picked up the food and it didnt recharge her energy and bens team the timer didnt start until he picked up the food whilst with sophia it started right away.

You ignored these 2 points, having a scroll should not have changed this.

You also forget bens team were given the scroll free.

I have seen a lot of punishment after watching nightmare recently for getting 1 riddle wrong or taking one wrong item and I think that is too harsh.

I think nightmare should have worked like this.

Level 1/2 Allow one wrong item on each level and one wrong riddle, dont leave unpunished but just make it harder, eg. a item is needed to use the main entrance to level2 the team dont have it so instead of killing them off they have to go through 2 or 3 more rooms to get to an alternative entrance to level 2. Killing teams off for one wrong riddle is very harsh, on S3 I see some teams get the same info for 2 right answers as those with 3, likewise sometimes 1 right answer is treated the same as 2, whats harsh is sometimes for 2 right answers you only get very basic info. With merlin he asks 2 questions, if only 1 right I think a spell should be given but as punishment when meeting him again on L3 he should make it harder to get his help.

On S8 Team 1s death was very harsh as they had motley who just seemed to be completely useless, one wrong item on L1=death not fair at all.

they drank the sight potion on PYCR but what difference did it make? they still had to guide him and tell where everything is but tregaurd insisted on it so one wonders what would have happened if they didnt have it.

2 thoughts form me on this.

1 - I initially thought they were dumb to not take the dagger, but it is possible in a guide they had beforehand it advises against weapons which would indeed make you think twice.

2 - What was motleys use since when dungeoneers are accompanied they dont go through levels with them so even if the woman had cracked the code for them motley would have made no difference, so after this consideration I think the death was harsh considering level1, instead they should have beem made to go through extra rooms as punishment and given a chance.

just watched this episode, the team seemed dim, not taking the obvious door in the dice room and after they seemed to be given a hard quest probably as punishment. The advisor nearest to tregaurd recovered and was good but ultimately they made too many mistakes.

my sky+ is recording daily 3am shows currently season 6, I hope its not true that s3 rights have ended as thats the one I want to watch the most. Why did s3 rights end so early did they show it more often or have less rights to it?

I got no doubt the mods and senior members will have their own copies but I can understand why they have to tread safely else this site itself could end up in legal trouble.

I just hope one day dvds become available until then I will have to make do with challenge.

1 - ben team guessed 4 and 5 correctly but then had no clue what was next and if you watch it they did indeed just walk fast forward bypassing the 5th step, they were not penalised for it. Either because they dashed voer the right block or simply because it was allowed.

2 - sofia team shouldnt have ran out of energy she got the food but was killed off when the energy didnt recharge, she did have it much harder as the time limit kicked in right away unlike with ben they were allowed to get the food first.

Watching nightmare as a kid these things never enter the mind at all.

Certianly season 6 is more drama play then game playing and you right about the backfire event really the team should have died there.

The 3rd causeway they had it easy in (a) time limit not starting till after they picked up food, (team after didnt have this luxury) and (b) on the path part of the causeway the blocks dropping were slower then usual although I checked and if they fell at normal speed the team were still fast enough.

The first lifeforce with the head was defenitly the best, interesting that they slowed it down in the latter part of its use. When watching nightmare as a kid I never noticed that the lifeforce was actually way too fast to be real time, but now watching the repeats it was noticeble quickly but I am watching season 6 which has a faster draining lifeforce animation.

My question is this tho, if the lifeforce wasnt relevant in scenes where there was no food and the team wasnt been rushed, does it have an affect if the teams lifeforce is damaged (not destroyed) by a monster or something?

I just rewatched both and my opinion is Bens team of course only knew the first 2 digits, they got the 3rd and 4th right but had no clue what the 5th one was so just skipped it and walked straight forward withought waiting to find out, this was allowed by the production team.

Sofia probably also got the first 2 right anyway as the food was placed on the correct block but they would have had to guess the other 3 numbers. They froze up at that point tho, but I think they could have frozen because they were sitting waiting for the lifeforce to recharge after they picked up the food, I think this should have happened and they at least should have been allowed to guess the path.

When you watch KM closely you'll notice without doubt that some teams had much harder quests than other teams. I think that at least half of the 8 winning teams would not have won if they had of been given harder quests. For example :

Team 1 - Never had to face a level 3 clueroom or Medusa when they triumphed in series 2.

Ben's team- They never had to answer any riddles like the subsequent team did in L3. Also they never faced a clueroom in L3 when they won (series 6).

Barry's team- Were killed twice. In a fireball room and in the COB but they were let off the hook (series 7).

Dunstans team- This one is rather obvious (series .

Mind you I supposed that the producers had to slightly manipulate quests to make sure that there was NICELY-ROUNDED average of 1 winning team per season.

I agree about bens team.

1 - On the l3 causeway the dropping sword didnt start until after they picked up the food, it then also dropped less platform then usual, this was the main reason they seemed to be so far ahead of the falling blocks. After spelling out find, the sword again on path was slow at dropping the blocks and allowed an extra drop. This team was fast but they did seem to be helped.

2 - taking the crown back to the team with critical lifeforce, the team werent guiding him in the tunnel its as if he knew where to go and the lifeforce should have ran out.

The team after bens team died on the l3 causeway.

1 - The sword started dropping immediatly.

2 - they got the food but the energy never recharged although they died anyway from the falling blocks.
