Thanks. I don't recognise the kid, could this be a publicity shot?

    Hi.

Just a quick note, the Experiences section doesn't work. When I click on any of the links I am taken to a 404 Page Not Found error.

My God, I didn't think you were looking at those kinds of figures. £500 an episode, and what is it, 20 episodes a season? So that's £10,000 for a season!! Eight seasons... Works out at at about £75,000 (season 8 had a cut production run)... Now, let's say each season sold for £50 (which I feel is way too much but lets be optimistic) and we say everyone buys one copy of every season, that's £50 x 8 = £400. So do the maths and... You need 188 interested people, which is lower then I expected. Now we know not everyone is going to buy all eight seasons, and the boxsets probably won't be £50 each, but according to my maths, we have the numbers to cover the costs?!?! So...

I hear what you're saying, Drassel, but how long do I wait? The show has not been repeated on any of the television stations I have and I've held out a long time now for DVD's to appear. If it was available to buy I would invest and not go for a pirated copy, but if the pirated copy is the only way for me to see Knightmare again, then some lucky seller on Ebay can have my cash, I'll be happy to have it all on DVD R's.

Well, I'm always living in hope, but I'm not willing to wait till 2017 to see IF official DVD's of Knightmare will appear. I don't have Challenge TV so the last time I saw Knightmare was when it was first on telly. I've been greatly tempted to get a copy of the show off Ebay but I've been holding out for word of an official release. I'm willing to wait a bit longer but I really do want to see Knightmare again and I think if the DVD release doesn't get the go ahead, I'll buy from Ebay.

    Always living in hope!!

    Paul.

Bluray would not be a good option anyway. First, the footage would need to be scaled up as it would currently be at standard television resolution, so there would be cost involved there. Second, bluray is coming along, but it needs you have to Hi-Def tv to see it at its best and not everyone has one of them. DVD is fine, you can do a straight port of the footage and 99.9999999999999999% of the population can buy it and view it.

...we'll make a formal gauge of interest when the new site goes live.

Thanks. Ok, I've waited this long, I'll wait some more. Would really like to get official Knightmare DVD's.

I take it from reading the posts here that this idea is not going to come to pass? If not, then I'm giving in and I'm going to invest in a DVD set from Ebay. I don't have Challenge TV and the last time I saw Knightware was when it was on the telly and I visited the studios. I miss the show and really do want to see it again so if, from the looks of it, this project to get Knightmare to DVD has flopped, then finally I'm going to nab myself a DVD set from Ebay.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to put a downer on this, I want Knightmare on DVD, I really do, but you hit the nail on the head when you said "invite friends who might be interested". For me at least, that's the problem. In it's day, my friends and I loved Knightmare, we even played Knightmare games outside!! But today, yes, they remember it, but they have no interest in it enough to buy it on DVD. They are adding their voices to the votes, but of all the people I've asked, sadly, I can only guarantee you one sale... Mine.

As I said, I'm not trying to be the grim reaper here, but 6000 interested buyers... I'm sorry, I don't think we'll get that. We might get 6000 signatures (eventually) but not all will be buyers, some will, like my friends, have signed up because they were asked.

I really do hope these DVD's go ahead because if they don't I'll probably give in and buy a set off Ebay. But I've held out this long, I'm willing to continue to hold out in hope of official releases.

Which is why you all need to invite others. We won't get much further unless people do their bit, I expect.

But is that going to give an accurate figure of sales? I get my friends to sign online petitions for stuff I have an interest in, and vice-versa, but in my case, I want Knightmare on DVD, most of my friends who I'll ask to join will do so out of me asking them to, not because they want Knightmare on DVD. I've already directed this Facebook cause around so I'm doing my part, but I say it's a lot easier to get 6000 signatures from uninterested folks then to get 6000 signatures from those who want to buy the Knightmare DVD's.

I'm sorry to say, if the desired number is 6000 odd (see earlier posts in this topic), we are a long way off and could be years before we see that number .

Thanks for the reply, Alan. Just to clarify, I wasn't trying to be forceful on the matter, I understand exactly what you've said. All I was trying to highlight was that if it was possible to get a Knightmare boxset on the shop shelves that I'm sure the sales would come. It's a shame you're not getting the votes here to make the project viable. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it does happen.

    All the best,

    Paul.

However, right now, we need to raise more interest. There is currently not enough.

In an earlier post I saw you mention figures of 4000 to 6000 to make this project viable. I don't want to sound like a harbinger of doom but I have doubts we'll see that here. In that same thread you also said the Bring Back Knightmare campaign had 6000 signatures, so why not taken that as your numbers and run with it?

The problem I see is that, in it's day, Knightmare has two million viewers (which according to CITV wasn't enough and so they canned it!! Twits!!). So where are those views now? Well, we've all grown up. I was in my teens when Knightmare was on, I'm now 33. Those original views have families, have moved on, perhaps even moved to other countries. Say Knightmare to them and they'll probably look back fondly, but they've probably not given the show a thought in a decade or so...

Now, of course, Knightmare is on other channels, channels I don't have access to sadly, so the last time I saw Knightmare was back when it ended. Yes, there are new viewers who love it. These new members come online and look for Knightmare and find this site. And it is those views who are posting here. But how many of the original viewing audience Google Knightmare? Some of us are here, I'm one, Knightmare is one of my all time favourite television shows and I'd love to see it again!! And the memories I have of being there, visiting the studios, meeting the cast, meeting Tim Child and his sister, Susan, meeting some of the teams... Knightmare really does mean a lot to me.

Umm... Might be starting to ramble now! LOL!!! Here's my point... You are needing a vast acknowledgement of interest to make the project viable. What I am saying is, while we have votes here, sadly not many from what I can see, I would ask you to consider the market that are not here, those who loved Knightmare but are not on this website. You said in the same post above that about 10% of voted interest would be buyers. Well, 10% of 2,000,000 orignal audience viewers is 200,000!!!

Of course, as impressive as that is, if the folks aren't here, those sales won't happen. So what I would like to put to you is the possibility of getting Knightmare DVD's on shop shelves... A lot of old television shows are getting television releases and I've invested in them having not given them a second thought for decade+, but on seeing the DVD boxset on the shop shelf it caugt my eye, reignited my memories of those shows, and down went my money to pay for the boxset. I'm sure a Knightmare boxset would catch many peoples eye, and it would reach a lot of the original 2,000,000 audience base. Then the sales you need would be met and surpassed.

If you need more proof that there is a market for Knightmare DVD's, look at Ebay. I've been watching Knightmare DVD's on Ebay for years, been very tempted to invest, and they always seem to sell, bids always go in. So imagine seeing on a shop shelf, a large black boxset with a Fright Knight on it and the word, Knightmare, embossed in red lettering... It would catch your eye and it would sell.

    Just something for your consideration.

    Paul.

    Hi.

Just want to add my commitment to purchasing the official Knightmare DVD's on release. I've held off a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGG time on purchasing recorded-from-TV copies on Ebay in hope of official DVD's being released. Tim Child's post last year about something stiring gave me hope so I've continued to hold off. I read earlier in this topic that this is nothing to do with Tim's post which makes me wonder what Tim was referring to, we haven't heard from him in a long time!?!

Anyway, you've got a buyer here, but I have to say I'd be interested in buying DVD's, not downloads.

Also, what are the mysterious unlisted episodes refered to earlier in this topic???

    Paul Boland.

    Hi.

Is there any news on what this latest development is yet? This year is two months away from its end and we've had no follow up on this interesting bit of news since it was initially posted.
