Yes, the red eyes/fireball combination was always terrifying. I always felt very sorry for the Brollochan though. I may have this wrong, but there was only one thing about him/it that made me shiver, and that was the sharp teeth...or am i going barmy?

I always got the impression Lord Fear wouldn't be so bad if you put him through a few counselling sessions where he could cry about being bullied at the Technomage school and having useless minions...

I suppose mainly I preferred Lord Fear because he had more of a personality, a meglomaniacal, twisted and perverse personality. He also got irritated and depressed - like any other normal person. Mogdred was more scary and did more evil things but he mainly went "Mwahahaa!" a lot and "Swear to serve me!" I can't think of much else he said that wasn't along those lines except "You think you can defeat ME????!!!" Bit monotonous.

But then I really am a child of the later series and I don't remember Mogdred much. My taste of him was mainly from watching Kierans KM vids.

It's supposed to be a mischievous spirit. Shakespeare's "Puck" is derived from the word Pooka. On Knightmare it's a big green scary googly thing.

Tim Child invented the Knightmare spirit, so I'm sure he wouldn't lose it. Although it's quite possible this won't happen and it won't work out and we'll all be disappointed - imagine if it does!

I wonder if I could get my kid sister on?

I don't think we have any right or reason to tell Tim Child how to run his creation though.

Puddle Lane was a programme and series of books. It featured a family of cats - Timothy Catchamouse and his sister Tessa - and his mother Pegs. They lived in a nest and used to climb the magicians tower looking for milk and end up falling through the window onto the magician and waking him up, and ending up flying or something. It was cool.

On perhaps a more serious note I don't think accusations of lying should be thrown about so quickly, Pooka. Do you object to seeing clips or an episode of Knightmare?

Um...I actually preferred the white skull helmet. It made me scared! Reminds me of Voldemort (Harry Potter books).

Me and Kieran are fiercely debating now - is it REALLY a cherry on top, or is it a pork pie dimple????

Anyway if it is a pork pie dimple I think that's really insulting to all vegetarian dungeoneers. Have dungeoneers gotten food which was meat before?

I certainly never liked the cake/pie/thing. All the beautiful eerie life force sequences we'd had before - and then the damn cake. And Level on on series 8 was very samey. {sigh}

On the subject of dragons.....................

I HATED it when Smirkenorff was sedentary and didn't fly. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! That was the whole point of him, to fly on him!

THE SNAPDRAGON in Series 8. It didn't DO anything. It was only there to show off the snazzy graphics which was NOT what I wanted! It never got close to killing a dungeoneer, even the slowest and dumbest, and I got to expect it, which meant it didn't even surprise me in the slightest.

And don't worry I wasn't really offended. Controversy and difference are spices of life. It's just I hate forums on fan sites which are all down on the thing the fans are meant to love.

I think I always loved the dragon flights. I hated it when Smirkenorff got sedentary and stay in his pit. There is no point to a dragon that doesn't fly, or at least sit on a measurable amount of stealable treasure.

I LIKED the later seasons. I didn't like the Reach wand, because it was too physical, and dungeoneers weren't meant to be physical. Soon you'd have a reach sword to attack people and then where would you be? Knightmare was meant to be mental.

But I LIKED Smirkenorff's flight's. Where's your sense of childish fantasy? What child wouldn't give up everything they owned to fly on a dragon? and Knightmare could make that happen for you.

I LIKED eyeshields. The more realistic the scenery, the better. It gave you a sense of being submerged in the world, so realistically you would never come out again. The point was to put yourself in the mind of a dungeoneer. How many of us watched it thinking "The fool, he/she should be doing THIS"? If you have an eyeshield the identification of yourself with the dungeoneer became more personal.

I liked dwarf tunnels too, but the "real", later ones were better. The skeletons in the corners really were scary.

THE GOBLIN HORN! OMigod he's being chased and he's got to run through the room NOW NOW NOW and look his advisors panicked and made a mistake....

I liked the 'real' dwarf tunnels. They looked so much more realistic, plus I was old enough to really appreciate Knightmare by then.

The Automatum (is that how you spell it?) was also scary. And eeky fireballs. That's why advisors are heard to scream "PUT IT DOWN! PUT IT DOWN NOOOOOOOOW!" whenever the poor dungeoneer had held the spyglass up for too long...
