Knightmare VR (which can be found on YouTube if you haven't seen it) includes an "avatar", a giant blue humanoid and a mix of live action and CGI, but not much of a plot. You're welcome, James Cameron.

Topless Robot recently did an article on "The 7 Nerdiest Game Shows of all time", featuring the likes of The Crystal Maze, Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego, and The Adventure Game. Guess what comes top of the list? Damn straight. I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty sure my childhood self would have stabbed someone to get on this show. Four awe-struck kids meet up with bug-eyed dungeon master Treguard in a castle-esque TV set. One dons a vision-obscuring helmet and enters a green-screen enhanced dungeon, while the other three watch on magical CCTV and give their friend commands to guide them. The rest is too amazing to describe in words, so I'll let the clip do the talking; no wonder it ran from 1987-1994. Just keep in mind: as far as I know, there was no real prize for completing the quest, which few ever accomplished. For the true nerdling, Knightmare must be its own reward. Read the original article on ToplessRobot.com.

I'm a bit confused. All CITV programmes were cancelled in about 2006 (including the long-running How 2 and Art Attack) and CITV was removed from ITV1 in 2007, since then it's just been Midsomer Murders and Inspector Morse repeats. So I thought this had happened years ago - there's no programmes to move to the CITV Channel, they haven't made any in four years and haven't shown any in three. And Matthew Corbett hasn't hosted The Sooty Show in over a decade

Dodgy RP accents ahoy! I don't really like TGWTG.com, but I quite liked Spoony even before he reviewed Knightmare, so you can imagine my surprise when he posted the vid. Oh yes, and this in particular seems incredibly familiar...

Banzai? Is that technically a game show? Very good point! A lot of the answers on that list really weren't gameshows by any stretch of the imagination if you ask me - the contestants' final winning answer was Strictly Come Dancing!

Hi All, first post back in quite a while... Interesting pictures, esp Majida I didn't really think much of the txt. To be honest, I find Digital Spy a bit up itself anyway. Interesting little read all the same though...

As we step boldly forward into the fourth decade of the Knightmare fan, it's good to know that there is supportive enthusiasm like this out there for KM. My favourite part was the analysis of the Silver Spurs of Squiredom. One disappointment I found was that, for all the ground covered over nearly an hour's discussion, the name of Knightmare's creator wasn't mentioned once. Incidentally, someone should probably let Richard Cobbett know that he contains the full name of a Knightmare contestant within his own...

Tim Child did announce this earlier in the year, yes. The facilities have been bought out by Intermedialab, of which Tim has become a Director. http://www.knightmare.com/forum/http://www.knightmare.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=2;action=display;threadid=2353 Ah now you mention it I recall seeing the link to... http://www.intermedialab.eu/iml/featurespeak/demo/knightmare.php?userid=Knightmare I only viewed Televirtual site after spotting updates to the wikipedia article. It must be have been longer than I thought since I visited the site.

I doubt that, actually. It's remarkably hard to fail in the 2:30 slot it's being moved to, since the expectations for that slot are so low. There was a considerable dip in viewers when Richard died (apart from the tribute special & anniversary). Now, that Carol is going more viewers will turn off. I'm not saying they won't move Deal or No Deal, of course, simply asking why they would. In an ideal world, Noel would quit and would bring back Noel's House Party!!!!!!

Great article! I enjoyed reading that. I don't really recall The Games Machine. At the time I was into Your Sinclair, Sinclair User, C+VG, then a bit later I was in Sega Power and Mean Machines. Now I'm regular reader of Retro Gamer. This was a great read though. I always loved the knightmare games that came out on the Speccy and the Amiga. I still play the Speccy version on my emulator a lot...

I was shown this by someone else. It's a fairly revealing interview, in all, and gives us some insight in his current feelings toward KMVR. A mix of blue screen and VR? Interesting compromise. The interview is well worth a read. Raven doesn't seem to go down that well with him, either! Well, from a personal standpoint, while I enjoy Raven, it doesn't appeal to the same aspect of me that Knightmare appeals to. Knightmare was essentially a strange mix of [western] cRPG and roleplay. Raven... Is Mario Party Medieval Edition: The Gameshow. (Of course, since I read the interview months ago I could be completely misremembering the content, but Tim Child's point about the Crystal Maze and artificial build-up to a climax is an interesting one, although I don't agree that the more open ended nature of Knightmare is 'better', simply less traditionally gamey.

Thanks for posting it, James - I got to this thread a little too late to catch it on Kerrang!'s site. I'm sure Illusion should put the clip up on KM.com!
