In the early series, there seems to have been a definitive, specific, laid out path. An item was used in a particular location and if you didn't have the item (for whatever reason) when it was needed then you died. The problem is that this lead to the situation where you can do badly in the clue room and still get through the dungeon by being lucky with your selection of items. On the other hand, if you did well, picked up exactly the right items, but missed a clue (or didn't understand the advice given) you were certainly dead. So bad teams could progress and good teams could fail, and it wasn't necessarily clear why. Later series seem to have eased up on this and there always seems to have been an alternative approach available for taking the wrong items (at least in level 1).

Could someone please help? I'd really like to see the extended version. You can now watch the original upload of the extended Geek Week episode here. There's also a later upload here. Let us know what you think of it. Something I've only just noticed: the first thing to happen in the episode is a facing-away-from-the-camera sidestep (by Veruca). Surely deliberate? Thank you! Great to see the extra stuff! Also nice to hear the opening theme tune fade out naturally without the door-creaking-open sound effect at the end.

Hugo has been known to make a few cameo appearances at Knightmare Live performances - both he and Mark Knight featured at the Leicester Square Theatre performance in November last year.

I wonder if the Lords Of The Game pilot will forever remain a convention exclusive or if there might still be any future opportunity to see it. (And the pilot eps of Knightmare, for that matter. Would be cool if Tim could dig them out for the 40th anniversary next year!) I fear it’s unlikely. The pilot was filmed as “not for broadcast” so I imagine that legally it cannot be distributed. We did ask if we could include it on the DVD but although he gave it serious consideration, Tim said nay. I fear the pilots may have the same status

There's a new coach company that's called Talisman Coaches, or something to that effect. I know it's Talisman something though!

This might cause uproar, but personally, i didnt like early Knightmare as much as the latter series - 6 is my absolute fave, followed by 4 and 2. (apart from Good King Barry!). The main problem with 5 is that the eye shield scenes are way too long. and slow-ass teams! The settings are great, characters need time to adapt to - esp the amazing Lord F and Sly - both of which got better as time went on! 4 & 5 were the intermittent series - characters changing from the "eras" 1-4 5-8. Still bloody good, and love them though! With 4 especially i feel the same way as in 1992!

Yep, I still do some of this too- especially with some of the later series where I get a bit caught up in the atmosphere. When I know what's about to happen tho., I do now sometimes amuse myself by shouting at them to do the wrong thing. "Go on, take the dagger, not the horn. Don't listen to Brangwen, she knows nothing." Oh, and of course, "Go on, take the empty jar of humbugs- Lillith will just love that".

Blimey! Not sure how healthy all this repressed regression is, chaps!   Surely FLIGHT would be an interesting one? Or that wicked combination of TRANSFORMATION and BUT would be worth a giggle or two.

I'm shocked and saddened, dearies, that more of you haven't chosen this room! Oh, the adventures that took place here. The excitement! The comedy! The tragedy! Well, it was kinda tragic, dearie, when Grimmy as bit Festus' third 'ead off. Except as since we built the conservatory it doesn't look quite the same. Oh, and we have a purple carpet now which I got on special offer from the Level 1 furnishings superstore. It's a bit chewed now, though, dearie. And Mildread and Smelly Sandra and all keep coming in to steal bits of it, the little *****es.   But that's another story, dearie. Care to buy a map of the dungeon? Oh, go on, you know you want to. It is true that the last team of series 1 had a less difficult time because they didn't have Cedric's riddles to contend with. Perhaps they were helped into Level Three a bit in order to show the audience what it actually looked like. This happened, in fact, in the final programme so the series finished on a high. My thoughts exactly. I suspect that at the time the entire series was very much a case of CITV dipping it's toe in the water (if you can imagine such a thing..) and a tantalizing glimpse of what level 3 may hold wouldn't have done any harm in terms of helping the decision makers to commission another series.

Hello! This isn't my first post (lost old password) so not a total newbie...but... I have managed to lay my hands on the original boxed version of the Knightmare game for the Atari ST. I'm aware that the game is probably downloadable from the net, but this is fully packaged with an immaculate manual. The manual contains pictures of Treguard and Pickle, instructions of the game and a 3 page Knightmare story. I was going to put this up on E-Bay, then remembered you guys and figured that it might mean a great deal to someone. I'm taking offers on this game, and if there is any interest i will post pictures up of all the contents, just to prove its validity. If interested, please leave a reply. Many thanks! X5

Well, I'd just have to say a good Knightmare for me would be characters with a genuine wit, like Lord Fear in Series 7, and a real threat hanging over the dungeon - because that's what made classic Knightmare.

Yeah, but it's just the name of the item.  That's a pretty trivial thing to substitute in, and it's there in the room - not much difficult to say "ah, you have found my key" or "ah, you have found my gem" or "ah, you have found my bracelet". Agreed, except in the case of Dickon's quest, where he had to convince Brother Mace to drink a bottle of brandy, which happened in level 2. This would be more difficult to resolve if these levels were 'moved about'.

The best quest in my opinion would have to be Barry's (Series 7, Team 7). The team came very close to death a couple of times in level 3, but survived several tricky puzzles (corridor of blades, the cards, moving block, spike path among others). They planned shuffle steps especially for causeways which I thought was good planning   Barry never stopped jabbering too - very entertaining stuff.

Where do you watch it? At home in my TV How do you watch it i.e. What are you doing at the time? When Knightmare was shown on sci-fi it came around 7 in finnish time...not sure tough Do you watch it on your own or with one or more people (if so who)? With my stuffed wolf Hukka Sukka Tukka Kukka Nukkavieru (used to watch with stuffed tiger Radza) What are your surroundings like? A computer close by if I think of something, a couch and a blanky so I can hide   plus I'm propably sitting on a stuffed tiger or golden retriever  ::) and the paint is peeling of the white walls.... and Nikki trying to eat my toe nails  ::)
