How about just having a rule that you can't reply to yourself?

(If, though, the contributions dry up there may be no alternative. I noticed during the last story that as it got longer and longer, the number of contributions lessened - I would attribute this to the fact that the amount of text that needed to be read before posting was increasing!)

The worry with the rule only stopping you from making consecutive posts is that it still leaves room for the story to be dominated by two or three people.

Who was imposing rules? I asked for suggestions on how to keep it going, personally. Basically, keep to about 150 words per post and try not to consecutively post.
