Will it have a Level Two?
Seriously, no one could accuse you of not giving plenty back to the world of Knightmare. I look forward to learning more about KMV, and hope that we will all be in on the secret before long. Keep up the good work, as they say.

Blimey, that's not looking bad at all, very nice work indeed!
My only worry is that this would seem that the original RPG is now officially abandoned, which would be an extreme shame given five whole years of work amounting to absolutely nothing. But this looks pretty good indeed!
-
That does look very pleasant to the eyes.
In terms of the actual RPG itself, there is nothing 'official' about it's current status beyond that no work is currently being done for it (to the best of my knowledge, anyhow, unless someone is secretly working away at the footage). However, there is a little hope if a few things can be sorted out.
Anyhow, good luck with the project, Mystara.

Perhaps I'm jumping the gun here but Mystara DID say that 'content' was needed...
We DO have at least 2 (Possibly 3) years of blue Screen RPG footage without a home right now. Maybe 1+1 = ?
Even though I haven't seen them move, the screenshots look extremely impressive. Please for more!
-
A level two could be added...for those not good enough to skip it out and jump directly to level 3!
Unfortunaely, the old RPG footage isn't going to be particularly usable in this instance., sorry
As for making it move...soooon
EDIT: Weird, I've just noticed that the sad smiley is a skull. That makes me look so much more evil than infact I am.

I think I'll allow you all to speculate amongst yourselves as to its nature...for now. I'll hopefully give more of an update in due course. I don't want to disappoint by showing anything that I'm not satisfied with!
HStorm - it's actually not a portal, so no worries
Incidentally, these screenshots are in compressed JPEG format. They look better here. Next screenshots will have a high and low res version

(Brief foray off topic coming up...)
My only worry is that this would seem that the original RPG is now officially abandoned, which would be an extreme shame given five whole years of work amounting to absolutely nothing.
Billy, I understand your disappointment, but if I may say so, it wasn't 'absolutely nothing' for those of us involved! Unfortunately, as I see it, the fruits of our labour can't really be shared with the wider Knightmare fan community without a very considerable amount of post-production work being done willingly by a sizeable team of volunteers. (And that's assuming that a decent portion of the community would then be interested.) It simply doesn't seem possible at the moment. I have my reasons for currently being unable to help, and others have their reasons. Nevertheless, I do feel apologetic about the matter.
I've been working on a new project (named KMV) as a potential replacement for the now rather defunct Knightmare RPG.
If the outward lack of progress on the Knightmare RPG is part of what inspired KMV, fair enough. But other than that, I'm not sure that the status of one should be linked to the other. I concur with Kieran's opinion that the RPG is not officially defunct: to quote the creator of Knightmare - our ultimate inspiration - 'maybe it's just sleeping?'
-
I probably didn't phrase it so well
I rather meant that from the view of an outsider, it seems to be "missing presumed dead". That's not to say it's officially gone - just that it's hard to see it coming back.
I also probably shouldn't have implied there was any link between KMV and the lack of progress on the RPG. Rather that those interested in the RPG would be likely to find an interest in this and see it as some kind of potential "fix" for missing their beloved RPGness!
-
Damn right it does
I'll try and provide some kind of an update this weekend. If we get an area finished off then I'll demo that. If not, I'll give a nice demo of the openGL lighting system which is rather sexy.
In other news...our website is up, and content has slowly started being added. Should be available for public viewing soooon.

As promised, another image for you...

A higher quality version of the same image can be found here:

This shows off some nice openGL lighting effects that we have. It's still a part of our test area (new area is still being worked on sadly)

G'day,
Just to let you know that the website for KMV has now been launched and may be found here:
It's slowly being updated, but currently contains details of the project and what it's all about
Cheers!

I've just checked out the website. The piccytures are indeed pleasant on the eye and the whole prospect of it does interest me a lot. I never got involved in the original RPG but I'd definitely be interested in checking this out, though since the progress of the teams will be recorded for online playback I sure hope I don't suck

It's there to encourage you to do your best

There's been a site update to http://kmv.partreal.net/
Including, thanks to Forester, a screenshot of our new area under construction.
Enjoy!

Greetings,
I'm about to start producing a simple playable prototype for KMV of about three rooms. To accomplish this, I need a concept for three different rooms - of different difficulty, to test the expressiveness of the engine as well as discover any bugs in the room building/playing process.
I thought I would offer this opportunity to anyone who might like to see a puzzle of their creation rather than outright create them myself
What I need:
A simple text description of the room and how the puzzle/challenge works. Feel free to include diagrams where appropriate.
Some key points:
- Please don't submit excessively complex rooms. The rooms are all 3D and much as we'd love to, we simply don't have the time to create (eg.) a colossal 3D gargoyle (or even a small one). By all means, if you can provide a model and texture for anything complex, feel free to include it!
2a) Don't make puzzles too hard.
It's boring to watch people lose all the time
2b) Puzzles may have a random element - but if they do, they must not be lethal.
It's reasonable to give the players a basic combination lock without a combination and give them a time limit. But only if entering the wrong combination repeatedly doesn't kill them.
- We don't (yet) have any NPCs
So no wall monsters, goblins, walking skeletons, etc.
Unless you want to provide the models/textures of course!
- No sounds
The client doesn't support sound.
- Please indicate if the group is assumed to have found some piece of knowledge before entering a room. For example, a causeway assumes that the group has found a combination (causeways are lethal if you get them wrong, so cannot have any random element to them).
So, if after all that you still have an idea - I'd love to hear it. Feel free to contact me privately. Either via the forum or via the KMV contact page

Finally, if anyone is interested in providing a link to the KMV website. A selection of banners and corresponding HTML code for them can be found here:

Cheeeeerssss!
