This is certainly very curious and I am intrigued to find out more.

I would be surprised if this meant a new series of Knightmare. If it were to start filming in 5 days, surely we would have heard something about it? Applications for contestants etc.? A week doesn't sound very long to shoot a whole series either (on second thoughts - Lord Fear probably wasn't needed for very long because all he had to do really was film spyglass scenes). There would have probably been a pilot episode too if a new series was commissioned.

It can't have anything to do with Knightmare Live, because another actor is playing Lord Fear at that.

I admit I would be very excited by a new series, but I'd be very anxious as to how it would turn out. They'd have to not stray too far from the original formula and not let technology overwhelm the heart of the show, as happened in Knightmare VR.

    How very curious...

A pilot? Guess they'd need to do one before a revival...

A nice rumour to be pondering though!

I cannot imagine there's any new series planned, and as Ross says, it seems unlikely to be related to Knightmare Live either. Plus it can't be for Challenge because they don't have the rights to Lord Fear-era KM at the moment. I have no idea what this could be for, but I really hope we get to see it!

Quite a few theories as to what Mark Knight will be doing! I can't see a series 9 happening. But who know's?! I think there could be a special episode or maybe a tribute to the program itself. Can't think what else that could happen! We will find out soon I believe!

although how knows what they've been doing/planning behind closed doors.

I could be a pilot I guess, or filming a introduction for something.

More then likely it's that sketch show I keep reading about KM LIVE.

            Confuzzled.

I hunted Mark down on Facebook and asked him what he meant and he replied:

I'll be in the UK the week of Monday (July 22nd) filming new episodes for a new web-streaming version of Knightmare.

I then asked if it was an official thing led by Tim Child and his answer was:

              Yes.

I wonder if this is being treated as Knightmare Series 9 and if it's being produced on the same scale as the original series.

If it's a web based project, they might not have the funds to produce it on the same scale (ie chromakey room and hiring lots of actors) and therefore they might rely on technology to make up for it, resulting in something possibly Knightmare VR-ish. I hope they stick to the original premise of the show, but it's certainly an exciting prospect!

Amazing news! I can't wait to see this! I wonder what made Tim do this, considering he said in the documentary that he didn't want to do it again.

But this is fantastic news and I can't wait to see how this turns out.

Would it be terribly cynical to suggest the answer might be "potential revenue in light of an increased interest in Knightmare thanks to Challenge's repeats"?

Whatever the reasoning, this is potentially fantastic news!

                          wow... interesting.

Something like Knightmare is so cheap the make theses days.. everyone has access to blue screen and fancy computer software so do a decent job.

Any new KM related stuff is a thrill, but to be getting something with Tim and Mark involved is definitely a bit special

I wonder why BBC News are looking for clips of Knightmare, and if it's related to this project??

                                  http://twitter.com/tomjbeal/status/357830278967853057

Out of interest I noticed Challenge say they have the licence for a few years. So I'm hoping this is an indication that they will show more series of Knightmare. Fingers crossed!

I think they mean the licence for Series 1 & 2... they have said they're not looking into buying any more series at the moment, though I'm sure they'll give it some thought once they've shown the first two a few times.

Anyway, let's not let this thread go off-topic...

I'm relatively optimistic about something like this, although I do have to wonder how far it will go. I think we should sit back and see what happens, taking things with an open mind.

This is indeed rather exciting. Has Tim Child been cleverly rebuilding the KM brand via a licences to Challange and KM Live?

Noticed this on Tim's wikipedia entry - does anyone know if this is new info?:

"He is currently Managing Director of DungeonMaster Ltd, and is active in producing for the Internet and the advancement of linguistic artificial intellience in drama applications."
