WWWWWWOOOWW. Didn't know that. Thought it was young kid dancers that played them.

Can you tell male and female goblins apart by looking at them? If there is a difference i mean.

The goblins in the youtube special of Knightmare seem different to the original ones. Think they are either different species or one of the types of goblins is the baby/young version of the other fully grown adult version. Think original goblin is the young not quite full grown version as the youtube one looks more adult to me with what i think are red marks on its face near its eyes. Looks like an adult to me.

I haven't seen enough of beyond Series 3 or 4 for a (very) long time so can't recall if the Goblins featured so regularly as they did in the formative years of the series. As for being played by us 'girls', who would have thought it ?

I think what we have here is a rare case of where the sounds of character are more intimidating than the appearance. Whenever I hear the goblin horn you get a sense of uneasiness and danger is never far away, but once they appear on screen they all look a bit silly and don't really present any real threat ?

From what I can recall they are (or were) invariably accompanied by some blundering incompetent character or adversary, which I think didn't present them as malicious as (which) was intended.

"Hey McGrew, they stand three foot four and their primary method of attack is to run at you with sticks. I'M PRETTY SURE YOU CAN TAKE THEM!!!"

The goblins in the youtube special of Knightmare seem different to the original ones ... the youtube one looks more adult to me with what i think are red marks on its face near its eyes. Looks like an adult to me.

Judging by the conversation between Lord Fear and Lissard, just before the goblin appears, I assume that this is an appearance of Garstang, who's actually an orc. He appeared as the 'host' for KMVR, voiced by Tim Child, and then appeared in KMGW, played by Ben Child (I believe...) as a pursuing adversary á la the original goblins.

It's a different character of a different race played by a different actor, that's probably why he looked different!

Yes, I was confused as to why McGrew was so afraid of them, when he managed to battle a floating spectral sword in the minecart room without so much as batting an eyelid!

I wouldn't say they weren't really a threat, though - they did kill one dungeoneer; that's more than characters like Hordriss, Raptor, Snapper-Jack or McGrew himself managed to do! A genuine and credible threat in Series 3, at least!

In Baldur's Gate terms the goblins should be been pretty darn easy for McGrew to deal with. And although Julie was kind of handed to them on a silver plate, a kill is a kill I suppose

AAAAHHHHHHH!...... so that's an orc....... So not a goblin as i thought it was after all.

I think the creator of Knightmare needs to write a book [like a fact book] about all the different creatures in Knightmare ....e.g. behaviour, culture,what they eat, e.t.c. .

Then we can go creature spotting. lol.

I thought they were about five foot. but most kids are taller then me. lol.

Better not show McGrew my halloween costume or this will happen. lol.

Dresses up as Goblin and shows McGrew.

McGrew screams like a small girl and runs away head first into a real Goblin. [not part of the plan]

McGrew screams again and runs the other way bumping into a sticky web.

McGrew cuts his way out of the web just as Skarkill turns up with his Goblins.

McGrew faints at the sight of the Goblins as i change back into my normal clothes. I plan to show Skarkill later.

Skarkill and the Goblins take McGrew prisoner. I facepalm my hand on my face as that was really not part of the plan and decide to get help to rescue McGrew.

I rescue McGrew in my Goblin costume as it was the best way to enter Lord Fear's lair without being caught.

McGrew freaks out at the sight of the Goblin and ends up running away and falls down an hole and has a chat with Simon.

Turns out McGrew has Goblin Phobia.

As far as I’m concerned, the goblins will always remain one of the most iconic aspects of Knightmare. I know in practice they were largely a hurry-up mechanism but their scuttling little runs implied a real threat back when I was a child (and I think speak to our deep animalistic fears about being hunted; ever had a dream in which you’re being chased? That was the goblins a nutshell).

However, it’s the chilling blast of the goblin horn that’s the masterstroke. Sound design is so important and the producers just got this one spot on. It just says ‘Knightmare’ to me in the same way as the electronic pulse of the TARDIS says ‘Dr Who’ or the thrum of a lightsaber says ‘Star Wars’. I suppose this is the reason why people complained about the new horn sound in KMGW.

So many heart-stopping moments associated with something that at first appears to be only a minor detail…

I agree. They should bring Knightmare back and put it back on tv right now. I get chills of joy when i hear the original horn. I never saw it first time round but i know that horn means goblins.

Itv have almost more repeats then the bbc at the moment, they might as well put old episodes of Knightmare on at the moment or a new series with adults, everything else is being repeated on itv. i have counted at least 18 repeats this week not counting plus an hour. Some of them are on at nine and are on again at eleven. Same channel as well.

Put something on worthwhile watching that isn't a repeat.

Knightmare has not been on itv for over twenty years. Its about time we bring it back. All we need is a tv studio, some cast, some advisers, some dungeoneers, some canvas, some paint, Treguard and Lord Fear.

Oh no wait i forget. Treguard needs a helper.

As Pickle comes over to me wondering why a red haired dungeoneer with no helmet and no napsack is calling out for him in Treguard's name. I unlease my battle cry.

I have good news and great news for you.

Good news.... My uncle is getting there and he has one of his dogs back for the moment as he can cope with one of the dogs but not quite both of them yet.

Great news..... My Goblin costume is now done. I was thinking of trying it all on today but poor Missy the gentle one doesn't like the Goblin mask. She runs off when you put it on. I think its because its greenish. Dogs don't like high contrast and they see the colour yellow very well. This could be a problem if she's still here at Halloween. We'll have to keep her in the living room in case people come to the door.

Hey Pickles that's awesome on the costume front but dogs are colourblind. They don't register colours at all.

Looking forward to Halloween...... I am going to be so busy that week scaring the neighbours.... on the Thursday before I will be showing the local pub my Halloween goblin costume.... on the Saturday before I will be at a Halloween party..... on the Monday it will be Halloween.

Will need to get lots of photos to show you lot........ Or maybe put it on the knightmare facebook wall.. If I can't get a photo of my costume on the website.

I made a wee happy Halloween picture which I put on the facebook wall. Wonder if any of you have seen it yet?

There's pictures of me dressed up as a goblin on facebook. I have shared one or two onto the Knightmare facebook page. We had seven very brave children come to our door...... not everyone would open the door to a goblin.

Still have bags of sweets left but I don't think they will last to the next convention somehow.... LOL. Talking of which.... anyone know when it is yet? Just asking.
