Or at least as close to perfection as you can get without involving Atomic Kitten or Christina Aguilera in some way....

Hmmm...Warrior Maiden....Series 4....big chopper....toffe accent...surely you mean Gundrada? She was played by Samantha Perkins.

At least now I can WATCH Knightmare again....they didn't show it in France  😠 I've had two weeks worrying, panicking about missing series 5, and I get back and they're on series 4 again....oh well, those Challenge people know I'll watch it anyway

Certainly, I agree that gratuitous spam should be discouraged. Indeed, I have seen many forums where large amounts of space are used up by postings that amount to nothing more than bump followed by long and excessively detailed signatures. However, I do believe that single line postings making a trenchant observation, possibly inserting some comment on the text, or a witty remark, can be used as banter to lighten up the mood of the forum, and allow for welcome breaks between long postings. While it may be frustrating for a person, such as RedMage, who obviously  watches these forums like a hawk, to see many single line posts on his favourite topic, this should not be used as an excuse to discourage people from making any form of contribution to a discussion. It just wouldn't be fun visiting here otherwise (and it IS fun  ;))

Moving on, I usually find that it can sometimes be amusing to see variations in the style of the team's descriptions, notably in the dice room of series 3. I think one team even started to describe the shape of the table before Treguard interrupted? It does get frustrating after a while, however, and its nice to see the emphasis on speed and narrative in the later stages rather than the slow, plodding, descriptive learning curve employed in the first few rooms. Although, I agree with Mephisto, the dungeoneer should be given a chance to take part in the fantasy as much as possible. Otherwise they'd probably just lose the will to continue.

I think the riddle was something like:

"There is a circle of stones at Stonehenge, but where else in England is such a ring to be found?"

    The answer was Avonbury. Apparently.

Yes, but thats all part of the Knightmare charm...

    "You're in a room"

    long pause

    "its green"

    pause

    "walk forward"

I can imagine the team's surprise when, in series four, they got to say

    "You're in a forest!!"

Must've been a big culture shock.

We should feel sorry for them; maybe they hadn't done angles at school, so they couldn't say "Turn 45 degrees to your right...no, thats 44, keep going..."

Then again, maybe they were just a bit....dim  ::) I'll take advantage of the fast forward option when I watch the episode again on video.

Quite frankly, ANY team thinking that a saucer was deeper than an ocean deserved to die in some nasty way...maybe drowning in the pool room would have been nicely ironic. I don't think their death was very well done though. They should have been able to read the scroll, realise they needed the crayon (cue: worried faces all round, fumbling around with their useless gold etc) THEN gotten crushed by the ogre.

At least then Treguard would have been able to get rid of them more quickly.  ::)

Oh, and wasn't Kelly's T shirt a bit short? Or was that a fashion at the time? In 1989, I thought jogging bottoms were the pinnacle of fashion...

I think the reason he hunched over was so that he could talk into the microphone in his shirt. Maybe he didn't want to speak loudly or something....

I think the production crew or whoever were in two minds about letting him off dying as well - note that he only drops into the pit on his second step. I personally think he should have been let off, seeing as he was only fractionally off the ledge (others have been let off for worse). Although they did deserve to get hacked by the axe for taking too damn long to decide to head for the door...it would have been interesting to hear what the advisors were saying...

"Shall we head for the door?"

    "No"

    "What shall we do?"

"Lets sit here and look at the pretty graphics"

    "But what about the axe?"

    "Good point"

    "Lets go then"

    "Righto"

    "You guide him"

    "No, you do it"

    etc etc  ::)

That riddle was just too damn hard. Even my mum and dad couldn't answer it (Yes, a week ago they denounced me as sad, now they're avid fanatics of Knightmare themselves  ;D)

I think the Glory spell might have helped...well, if nothing else, they would have gone out with a 'BANG', rather than a 'Splat!'

I thought it was quite amusing actually...

And Grumphicks is right - the Knightmare format would just not work without Mr Hugo 'Ooh Nasty' Myatt. I think they should get him back, or change the format so that a new style of presenting is needed.

  • Is it me or is Mellisandre Cute?

    General Discussion

Ooh, I've been waiting for someone to bring something like this up.

Sidetracking slightly, does anyone know why, in Series 4, Mellisandre said (twice) "In fact, I never seem to get any older"? I never understood the point of her saying it...I always assumed she must have been immortal for some reason, although it was never used as a plot device.

And yes, she was cute. Completetly useless, but cute  ::)

How can u say that?! Are you BLIND?!!!

No, and I'm not deaf either. The singing of the estimable Ms Spears makes me want to pluck out my eardrums with white-hot steel tongs, then pour in hydrochloric acid just to cleanse all remnants of her sound waves from my system. Oh, and Christy did the "Dirrty" video which always raises the temperature in the room when it comes on...can't imagine why  😮

  • Past, present and future...(A bit long)

    General Discussion

Having watched the repeats of series 3 (I started watching KM regularly with series 4) I have to say that  it is fast becoming my favourite series. The lack of a coherent storyline is a bit detrimental, but the difficulty of the questions and the greater interactivity of the dungeon more than made up for it (The second team of S3 had to climb into a pool, crawl out, and sing 'Happy Birthday'...that just cracked me up  ;D)

And yes, series 9 would be interesting, but it would have to remain true to the original Knightmare in almost every way (i.e. a helmet, advisors, dungeoneer actually moving around as opposed to lazily using VR technology). Oh, and it shouldn't be bogged down in political correctness, as in "We can't have a WHITE FLOATING SKULL OF DOOM, that would scare the little kiddies. Lets have an enlarged, slightly threatening bunny rabbit instead".

Damn, I'm thirsty after typing that.

    Spellcasting:

    V-I-M-T-O

    Ahhh....sorry about that  ::)

Argh, I need coffee. 4 hours sleep is not good for...not good...not...zzzzz...
