Having noted the many similarities between Lord Fear and Sauron, it occurred to me recently that his Series 8 incantations might be intended to resemble Black Speech, which has the same kind of harsh sounds (and includes "ash" among the few words Tolkien invented).

Interestingly we see this again in Lords Of The Game where Lord Fear's name is Veerash - very Orkish-sounding! (His middle name less so, haha.)

Is anyone getting spammed with messages about this?

The last one came from a user called 'Marythisk'. This person only joined Monday 17th August 2026 so I can only assume this isn't any approved message from any forum admin. How do I report / block this person? I cannot see any option on their profile to do any such thing. Apparently I can add them as a foe, but I'm not sure what this will block them.

Yeah, I've had four such messages today from that account! You can create a message rule that will automatically delete their messages, but annoyingly you still get a notification about them. I don't think adding them as a foe will block private messages from them either.

It seems they've now divided the top floor of Hedingham Castle into two rooms, so if I ever get to visit, I sadly won't be able to take a photo that shows the whole view of Lord Fear's chamber in Series 5!

The book I've been reading cited the work of a cognitive psychologist called Chaz Firestone. I wonder if Tim Child knew anyone with that surname!

I transcribed Lord Fear's other spells as "Zalash caralam" (turns Maldame to stone), "Zash caram" (displays Bhal-Shebah on his screen) and "Caram gar" (speeds up the Corridor of Blades). They seem to have some common elements, and feel more made-up than the Latin-esque ones. But who knows.

I did wonder why there was no mention of Carrie among the fleet on Square Sail's website in later years, but guessed she had probably been sold at some point - I wasn't expecting this. Makes me glad the Phoenix is still around, even if it no longer resembles the Knightmare ship!

After reading a comment on one of the photos, I was sad to discover the fate of the other ship Carrie, formerly known as the Dawn Treader as noted above - she was chartered for the Irish reality TV show 'Cabin Fever' (a cross between 'Big Brother' and 'Survivor' set on a ship circumnavigating Ireland) in June 2003, but ran aground off the coast of County Donegal and sank!

Has anyone ever reached out to the actress and psychotherapist Eleanor Tremain who was an advisor in the Knightmare pilot? I wonder if she has any memories of it.

It's had many other filming credits over the years, including the 1989 BBC series Voyage Of The Dawn Treader (pre-dating its caravel transformation)

...Or not? Thanks to Jake for bringing it to my attention that the Dawn Treader is credited as Sailing Vessel 'Carrie', which is another of Square Sail's ships that appeared as the Pinta in '1492: Conquest Of Paradise' alongside Phoenix as the Santa Maria. I think there has probably been a mixup at some point with Phoenix being mistakenly credited for this role!

I wonder if the Lords Of The Game pilot will forever remain a convention exclusive or if there might still be any future opportunity to see it. (And the pilot eps of Knightmare, for that matter. Would be cool if Tim could dig them out for the 40th anniversary next year!)
