I do have House of Hell and I should have added it to my interesting books list, as its the only one set in the "Real" world as such.

I thought it was a very good book, although I agree that you can get stuck in the dead ends and I have to admit I never really worked out how to finish it before I read the solution..  It all makes sense again when you read the solution through and there are clues on the way but many parts of it are hard.

I think that the only one next to that in diffculty is Crimson Tide which has a clever puzzle on it if you don't miss the words you are given.

I have to say, whoever came up with the idea of that must have been a genius of sadism or just a genius, as it needed both dungeoneers wits and skill and of their team members to dodge the baldes on either side - although why didn't they just lie flat during most of the encounters? the blades would have just gone over their heads.

Do you think it was just a natural development from the room of blades from the earier seires or it just jumped into someones head? The technology looks pretty advanced there anyway, with the moving corrdior, timed blade events i.e. when they came down etc.

Would be interesting to see the behind the scenes mechanics for that

And then of course you have things like near deaths and deaths in the Corridor of blades.. especially those who if they had only moved a cm to the left or right wouldn't have been removed from the game

But I agree with you completely Elita I though that Creature of Havoc was uniquely written but almost impossible to solve  unless you are a brainbox the only way I saw how to do it was to read the solution, and thats complex enough

Great, another Fighting Fantasy fan - I used to get the books when I was younger too, I still do, originals off ebay A good source if you want to collect certain books

Favourite Books and ones I reccommend:

1. Deathtrap Dungeon (My 1st book and the best)

2. Keep of the Lich Lord (multiple success endings, multiple paths, interesting and involving plot)

3. Warlock of Firetop Mountain

Books that are interesting:

1. The Zagor series books (Mountain,  Return and Legend Zagor)

2. The Vampire series (Vault and Revenge)

3. Appointment with F.E.A.R (superheroes!)

Books that you should steer clear of:

1. Scorpion Swamp (not bad concept but too short)

2. Star strider (not bad but again weak)

3. Space assassin (another space series one)

Maybe we should start our own fan board or all join one in use

I don't know what you think, but from what I remember and double checked from some of the video footage of the series I think that the majority of deaths were caused mainly by the teams themselves.

The only real "near miss" case in my opinion was in one of the early series when a team jumped over a missing square of merlin block puzzle and fell off, but the recoil could have sent him over the edge.

The block and tackle room in series 4 has to have one of the best deaths - where a dungeoneer was told to go left instead of right, and fell right into the hole. whoops

Moggie (its the find nicknames for Mogdred contest) was the best villain in my opinion - but them I always prefer classic unknown-motive villans

Fear is a good villan as villans go though - but he was too humourous in my opinion (not that I'm saying I dislike humour but its more effective if you have no humour if your evil)

How about we call a truce on the pie/cake thing and call it a piecake or a tart?

I always thought when I was younger that Morgdred was a cross between the Emperor out of Starwars and a monk

Although I hated some of the later series characters I did like the new lord fear backgrounds and his meddling with technology / alien artifacts background. It kind of made it more interesting (and similar to Saruman in the Lord of the Rings with his "March of Technology" ethic

In many ways I preferred these earlier series to the later "outdoors" series - they were dark, brooding, deadly (with creatures like the cavern weights and goblins roaming about) and had an enemy that could appear out of nowhere.

I do have to agree with Casper the key though he wasn't half as annoying as some of the later characters like Snapper Jack (about as threatening as a puppet) and I personally didn't like Lizzard (although the makeup was good)

Brining back a Dual Lord Fear / Morgdred character is a good idea, as you could even write in situations where one evil scheme would foil another evil scheme if the dugeoneer did things right

Lord Fear spends all his time trying to beat the PC Game Dungeon Keeper Dunegons and not going after the Dungeoneer

Lord Fears Realm has been redecorated in pink pastel shades

Treguard retires and the Dungeon Master from Dungeons and Dragons takes over

This new format worries in a way. Its a really good concept but it seems it could take the Dungeoneers Destiny(TM) out of their own hands - what happens if you get a particularly malicious audience and it decides to put as many traps in the dungeoneers path as possible?

However, the main important thing is that knightmare will be back
